Raul helped me with design ideas. They were able to complete all the work in less time and at a better price than other contractors we considered. We would use them again in the future.

Ethan did a fabulous job and I would definitely use him for future work and recommend his services. He helped me put together a full set of plans for permitting purposes for a full house remodel in California. He was quick and very knowledgeable. He even did his own research into city code to ensure he was doing thing correctly (we live in San Francisco, a very complex city for permits). He worked very well with our designer, was meticulous and detail oriented. A+ job!

We are a newer company and needed to update our logo to something a little more edgy, eye catching and clean. After researching and meeting with multiple designers, we were most impressed with Mr Boyer for a number of reasons. Mr Boyer was very friendly and easy to communicate with. He was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had upon initial contact and throughout the entire process. Mr Boyer has done amazing work and when we met in person, his portfolio spoke for itself. Even though the logo we were redesigning was different from his portfolio, he had an amazing eye for detail and gave us several options to choose from. In addition to his communication and expertise, the pricing offered by Mr Boyer was amazing. In the end, we had our logo redesigned, business cards, brochures and postcards completed, along with letterhead and envelopes. Everything was completed to our satisfaction. We will definitely do business with Mr Boyer again and would highly recommend him to anyone in search of a professional, high quality, reasonably priced designer!!

If you are serious about hiring an interior designer....yet skeptical...then you are like me. I had never taken the leap to hire someone to help me with room design and decorating thinking that was way beyond something I could even afford. After relocating to Arizona and purchasing my home I began to search for help after realizing that I didn't know where to start. Every time I went to shop I was overwhelmed as I really didn't have any idea what I wanted to do .....I loved so many things but knew I had to have a plan and a budget. I met Lora in the Drs office and we started up a conversation while waiting our turn. The rest is history. She listens, asks what you like, tells you what she would suggest, honest, doesn't beat around the bush, stays within your budget and makes it very affordable. She also,is fun, funny, and will tell you exactly what she thinks. Those are all the qualities that I have loved while working with her. After all, that's why I hired her.....not to insist I do it my way, but to be open minded to fresh, new ideas like wall paper and drapes. I never dreamed I would love those two things as much as I do. Give her the opportunity to help you create rooms you will love. She will definitely not disappoint you!! Thank you Lora!!!!!

Recently my husband and I renovated our home in Talon, Grayhawk. It was a large job including basically our whole house with the exception of our bedrooms. We reached out to Lauren with Living with Lolo, a designer here in the Phoenix area. She and her contractor were amazing . The demo actually was finished in one day by a crew of 8. Every sub that showed at our house over the next 6 weeks was punctual, neat and an expert in their field. Lauren’s vision was carried out in a seamless fashion. We loved her ideas and suggestions. She was very creative and listened to our initial ideas. We took up our ceramic floor tiles, tore down walls, painted walls, shutters and cabinets, changed our large fireplace, repositioned a new island with quartz countertops, plus much more. I highly recommend Lauren!

********* I love Christine! Finding her was such a blessing. She is fair in price compared to other designers and has shopped and done a great job for me on a tight budget. She makes herself available anytime for answering questions, responds quickly to emails, is a pleasure to work with, is budget conscious, and very talented esp. on tight budget. Resourceful, knows where to find great finds, stages home beautifully, trustworthy, doesnt gouge you on hourly rates. Cant say enough good things about this gem of a find on thumbtack

Steven from BluCitrus demonstrated amazing customer service with his enthusiasm, professionalism, and timeliness. I was hoping for someone who would create art for me and he and his crew did that and more. The thought and consideration they put into my logo design helped me to feel that they really understood what I was going for (probably even better than I knew myself!). I had what felt like a really disparate set of design needs (active and passive, masculine and feminine, etc) and they exceeded my expectations. I am thrilled. I couldn't recommend them more. Thank you Steven!

Ana has been amazing to work with. I was originally not able to articulate my style preference but she really spent time getting to know me to understand what I would be happy with. Also I’m very picky and want to be hands on with style decision ls and where I can see this could be frustrating to designers, she has welcomed my involvement. Ana did an amazing job working with my budget. I didn’t necessarily have a total budget in mind because I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to buy and there’s somethings I’m willing to pay a premium for and some things perfectly happy buying from Target; she supported me through all this and helped me stick to a budget that was comfortable for me while choosing items I loved. I would highly recommend Ana.

We needed to blend 3 adjoining rooms, keeping each room with a separate look, but keeping the flow of style through the large space. Connie has a keen sense in blending modern design with traditional style. She is able to read her clients quickly, and willing to listen to our input and give an honest, professional opinion. Her style has been consistent and she has been very helpful in accenting our current style. Thank you.

My company needed a fresh new website presence. Our old one was stale and tired. Dot Com designed us a brand new site with an amazing design, made it responsive, and included new features and tools for our users to use. Our managers love it, our users are complimenting us on it, and we are seeing a spike in business because of it. We are very pleased and have already recommended Dot Com to our clients.

11/20/2014 Amazing money saver, astonishing work! Getting a 3D plan with images prior to building our custom home with a few areas before blueprints started was smart. This is proof that it saved us thousands of dollars in the long run. This was our 3rd home in 22 years and we only wish we had found Third Dimension Design years ago. If you need to design an elegant and want to avoid the headaches of design errors and contractor miscommunications, hiring David is the only way to go. THANK YOU DAVID The Bradleys

I have never worked with an architect before and Ryan is exactly the type of architect I needed to help me with the redesign of my condo. He took the time during our initial meeting to go through the entire process step by step, answered all my questions, and asked all the right questions. He made sure he had a thorough understanding of what I was looking to do, why I wanted to do it, and what I hoped it would look like once completed. As a result, the first draft Ryan produced was spot on. There was one revision to accommodate a few last minute changes I wanted to make and Ryan turned that around very quickly. He was always on time with everything and he doesn't waste time. Rather than ask me to do it, he took the initiative to contact my property manager to obtain copies of the original building plans. With my work schedule I really appreciated not having to deal with that. I would recommend Ryan to anyone. He's been great to work with and I'm going to begin the construction phase with a little more confidence knowing I've got a professional like Ryan to help me out.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

  • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
  • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
  • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

  • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
  • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
  • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour
