I live in Colorado and I am selling a house in Gilbert. I needed the house staged to go on the market in November. Ivoree Interiors quickly contacted me and offered several options and ideas for the staging. I selected the staging package that was perfect for the property and it was completed on time. I received some quick pics of the house and was truly delighted with the furniture selection and tasteful design. Communications were great and the payment was easily completed with PayPal. I highly recommend Whitley with Ivoree Interiors to anyone in the valley who needs their house staged. 5 Stars !!!!!

Ethan did a beautiful job rendering an interior design and built in cabinetry precisely to my specifications. He provided 3D renderings and flat layouts with specifications and measurements. Had a very professional contract, worked quite fast, made revisions as requested. Would and will definitely hire again for future work.

Gentle 1 provided recommendations on interior design factors, like color schemes, layout and utilization of furnishings, space planning, and color coordination. Using my style, preferences and budget, she helped me select end tables, pictures, lamps, accent pieces, furniture, bedding and window treatments. I stayed within my budget and visitors continue to give compliments on the 3 rooms she decorated (bedroom, living room and dining room). My home is cozy and inviting, a reflection of my authentic expression.

Christine has been really great to work with! I’ve never hired an interior designer before, so I didn’t know what to expect. Christine helped us totally update our living room area including the paint, flooring, lighting, and furniture. She worked without our budget, worked with the contractors who did the remodel work, and selected some really great items for the space! I’m so happy to come home from work and enjoy our new living room with my three little kids, we all have been enjoying it so much! I would recommend Christine to anyone!

The exceptional service that my husband an I have received from Ana, with Desiging Elements is beyond compare. Ana is energetic, knowledgeable, pleasant, professional, and very helpful. Ana and her team at Designing Elements have a superior product knowledge that I hadn't seen before. Their attention to detail is an asset to any homeowner or company who is looking for a rewarding transformation to their existing property interior. I am absolutely delighted with the work Ana has done for us. My husband and I were not available for the duration of the transformation of our home. During that time Ana fully managed, directed, implemented all of the remodeling / design ideas, space management, furniture placement, accessorizing, that we had agreed on, for this entire project. Through emailed, Fedex, texts and phone calls, Ana made it possible for us to view, choose, and approve styles, themes, materials, textures, colors, etc., that was best suitable for our taste while maintaining the integrity of the architecture of our home, making this process a very pleasant one. My husband and I truly felt as one of those couples from HGTV when we first walked into our fabulously designed dream home. When asked how we like our newly re-designed home, these are the words that flow; "absolutely fabulous" "remarkable" "inviting" "calming" ...Ana is not only amazingly talented but also a kind and wonderful person who truly cares for the quality of service she offers her clients. We greatly recommend Ana, with Designing Elements for any interior design/decorating, home organizing needs you may have. Give her a call; she has a remarkable way of making things happen ...she surely did it for us!

Our house was an auction home in need of serious upgrading. We have had Steve and Diane do so many tasks for us, it's hard to know where to start. They painted the interior of our house, power washed the pool, installed tile back splash in kitchen, and a new range hood, tiled two showers, repaired the pool motor, helped pick out a large package of landscaping and got it planted, repaired lawn irrigation system. This is an amazing, hard working, conscientious couple that we would highly recommend. No job seems too large or too small.

We needed to blend 3 adjoining rooms, keeping each room with a separate look, but keeping the flow of style through the large space. Connie has a keen sense in blending modern design with traditional style. She is able to read her clients quickly, and willing to listen to our input and give an honest, professional opinion. Her style has been consistent and she has been very helpful in accenting our current style. Thank you.

Laura came to my home and spent 2 hours reviewing and evaluating our updating plans. She offered suggestions for design, lighting, flooring and wall color. She gave me valuable insight in color combinations and style. She was personable and knowledgeable. I look forward to working with her in the future. I have already recommended her to a friend. What a find!

Mary provided the space planning and design for the complete remodel of my kitchen. She also assisted me in selection and purchase of flooring and accesories for my bathroom. The work was done quickly and she followed through with necessary followup in the delivery of materials that had been sent incorrectly by the supplier. I saw no need for improvement in the services that she provided. I have received many complements regarding the work done in my home.

I can offer my highest recommendation for Ashli of Design Outside the Lines. Ashli did an outstanding job of staging my bridal shower in 2015. She has posted pictures on her website of my event, and as you will see, everything was beyond beautiful, every detail perfect. I received so many comments from people that it was the most awesome shower they had ever attended, and I was beyond pleased with the results. Then in 2016, it was baby-time. I panicked when thinking about accomplishing the nursery, and called Ashli who came to the rescue big-time! She asked many questions regarding our preferences, and designed and completely transformed the room into a truly outstanding nursery for our little girl. As you look at the before and after pictures, you may think that she must be a miracle-worker….and I’d say she definitely is! She exceeded our expectations and we could not be happier with Ashli’s services.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does it mean to stage a home?

Home staging is the real estate strategy of decorating your home to be as marketable as possible to your target demographic. Home staging is done by interior decorators and other design pros hired by the homeowner or realtor, prior to putting a house on the market. Think of it as setting the stage for potential buyers to fall more easily in love with their future homes — and to spend top dollar to get them. It’s likely to be worth the investment: The Real Estate Staging Association reports that staged homes spend 90 percent less time on the market than those that are not staged. Home stagers can also be hired even if you’re not going anywhere. Stagers can consult on new layouts for your current home, much like an interior decorator.

Home staging can take place while you still occupy the house you plan to sell, or when the home is vacant. For an occupied home, the home stager will clear out clutter, rearrange furniture, and bring in decor and furniture as needed to create the perfect environment. Usually an occupied home has far too much of the current owner’s personality stamped on it, which makes it hard for prospective buyers to envision themselves living there. A home stager should neutralize and beautify the space. In vacant homes, a home stager will bring in furniture and decor so that potential buyers don’t walk into an empty house, which can be equally hard to imagine living in as a cluttered, occupied home.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How much does it cost to stage a home for sale?

Nationally, the price for home staging ranges between $750 and $1,500. The price varies based on how many rooms in the house need staging, whether furniture and decor are needed or the stager can work with the client’s belongings, whether the home is occupied or vacant, and the sale price of the home. Occupied homes typically cost less to stage as they are already furnished, and can require less time and resources than staging an empty house. The main tasks when staging an occupied home are rearranging and decluttering. Staging an empty house can be more expensive as furniture and decor need to be trucked in, requiring transportation, physical labor and potential rental fees. Here are some examples of average home staging costs:

    • 2-hour consultation: $200, includes DIY tips and guidance.
    • 1- to 2-hour consultation and design session: $250, including written report.
      • Additional design consulting: $65 per hour.
    • 8 hours of staging an occupied home: $800.
      • Hands-on staging involving moving furniture, hanging and moving art, and decluttering.
    • Starting price for staging a vacant home could be $2,200.
    • A home stager may charge 1 percent of the home’s selling price.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

    • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
    • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
    • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
    • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
