For over 40 years, I refused to sing despite a deep and abiding love of music. I believed the cruel person who told me I could not carry a tune. I was so convinced of it that I would never sing aloud, not even when I was alone. But always, I wondered if singing lessons could prove differently. By the end of my first lesson with Anna, she had reassured me that this was something I could do. She has been warm, kind, and supportive, not to mention truly professional as a teacher. Never once has she criticized. Rather, she gently corrects and patiently guides me to help me improve.
Three years later, I have conquered that long-held fear with her help and managed to sing in two recitals. With Annas encouragement, I sang a single song in a coffee house filled with more strangers than not. A year after that, I sang seven songs in a private recital for friends and family at my home. I have no expectations of ever being a great singer or even always singing on pitch, but Anna made it possible for me to finally know I can sing. For that, I will be always grateful.
