Robert and Gene were wonderful to work with! Robert is very knowledgeable and responds quickly to any inquiries or issues. I had a follow up issue and he came out the very next morning! Their prices are incredible compared to what the other repair companies charge... $39 for a service fee, I couldn't believe it. I don't trust very many repairmen based on past experiences but Robert won me over! They initially told Robert they didn't have a new part for my VERY old freezer but Robert found a new part within days and it is working like new. Thanks Robert and Gene!!

Very professional and was on time. Fixed my dishwater and was very honest about fixing my washing machine versus buying a new one since it was old and would be a waste of money. Much appreciated!! They are my new small appliance repair men!

Very expensice Kitchenaid microwave/oven combo broken. The Microwave stopped heating anything. We had 2 other maintenance companies come out and could not solve the issue. Byron from Localserviz Appliance Service and Repair came out and looked at it. He asked a lot of questions and spent a lot of time diagnosing the issue. I was very impressed with his thoroughness. He insisted on looking at the owner's manual and checked all wiring. Found out the previous crew messed up the wiring and was blowing the fuses. Byron was professional, genuine, and truly was interested in solving the issue. I will use him again in the future if I need any additional maintenance assistance.

I was having a cooling issue with my A/C. AAA came out and quickly diagnosed the problem. I was informed that my current A/C unit was deteriorated and was in need of substantial repairs or a new A/C unit. My A/C unit is on the roof so I had no access to it. The tech actually took photos of the problem area and gave me the option of repairing it or replacing the unit. The tech was absolutely honest with me in that the "fix" may not "cure" the problem. He said the option was purely mine to decide what I wanted to do (in other words, he didn't try to sell me what he wanted to sell me rather he let me make the decision after having all the facts). I decided to replace the unit with a new one. The tech's experience helped me make an informed decision on which unit to choose. After deciding which unit to go with, they scheduled me in. When they arrived, all the tech's were clean and neatly dressed in matching shirts and pants. They were very friendly and had the old unit out and the new unit in, in about 4 hours. The tech installed a new thermostat that they recommended (I recommend it too, the NEST is awesome!!) and set it all up for me and took the time to show me how it operates. All in all, I am 100% pleased with the service I received. Their customer service is excellent and their pricing is very reasonable. I would highly recommend AAA.

Was the first to respond. Was able to fix Monday before noon. Felt kind of on the expensive side for a 30-45 minute duration that it took to replace the lid switch on the washing machine, but the work was good and guaranteed.

Marcella and her crew were perfect. They disconnected a washing machine for us and hauled it away, together with numerous other items we were disposing of prior to a move. Hers is the only company I will ever use for trash removal.

Had an issue with my washing machine, a representative showed up, diagnosed it in about five minutes, ordered the part, came back two days later once the part arrived and knocked out the issue first thing in the morning. Appliances break, and they can fix them! Give them a shot.

I needed to have my Samsung dryer repaired. From the bids I received, Michael gave a reliable and reasonable quote. I found him to be honest and transparent, rare with some repair people. He explained the work needed, did not try to upsell me, he performed with precision and neatness. It was a great experience and I would not hesitate to refer Michael to my friends and family.

We intended to have David replace a shower faucet for us. However, once he had it taken apart, he felt he could clean/repair it and it should last for some time. We could then return the shower faucet we had purchased, thus saving us $90+. The best thing is, the shower faucet works great now! He was efficient, reasonably priced and an obvious problem-solver. We would use his services again.

I needed a frig to move into a new place, but the cost was going to be problem with all the other moving costs. I found Louie's through a 'No Credit Check' financing service online. I had gone to another used appliance store connected to that financing service, and that store was horrendous -- filthy appliances, incompetent uninformed staff, a total turn-off to a prospective buyer. Calling the financing service, I heard about Louie's. I called Louie's and the salesman who answered was intelligent, understanding, professional and helpful. I went there, and I was able to find a suitable frig, and finance it through the financing company. I was very impressed with Louie's salespeople, their financing VP and assistant, their products on display, and their deliveryman. Highly recommended!

My GE Washing machine stopped 'spinning' during the last cycle of the wash. So I called a repairman out to fix it. After a few hours of hacking away on my machine, he said he couldn't fix the issue, and left my washer in an unusable state. Photos added. In a last ditch effort to avoid a larger expenditure for a new washing machine, I called another well reviewed company. Boy, I'm sure glad I called Early Bird. I explained what was happening over the phone with he Office Manager(Brenda), and Chip showed up to my house and said can-do! After a few hours of working on machine, Chip was able to get what seemed to be an impossible fix completed. He showed up with the right parts and my Washer is now working like it did when it was brand new(it's a 5 years old washer).

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
