Mikado Architecture designed and built our 4,400 sq. ft. custom home in Oro Valley, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every way.
From the very beginning, their team handled the entire process seamlessly — architectural design, interior design, furnishing selections, and full construction management. Having one cohesive vision from concept through completion made all the difference. Every detail was intentional, thoughtful, and beautifully executed.
What truly sets Mikado apart is their integrity and efficiency. They not only delivered an exceptional home, but they came in under budget and finished the project four months ahead of schedule — completing everything in less than a year from the start date. That level of performance in a fully custom build is almost unheard of.

I worked with Stefan of Mikado Architecture to design a custom 5,000 sf home to be built on undeveloped land. Stefan created plans placing the house, pool, brick wall fencing, driveway and other exterior elements on a 3.5 acre parcel. The placement of the house was critical for leveling the foundation on a hillside and connecting to utility lines including sewer. Stefan is very knowledgeable with construction zoning and permitting. The most important thing was Stefan listened to my ideas on the design elements I wanted for the house and incorporated them on the plans.

We were initially looking for a draftsperson to help our architect with project drawings. After speaking with Mikado, we realized they were over qualified for that, but also flexible in their approach and willing to be a thought partner/consultative resource for items beyond just drawings. It turned out to be a great decision, as we leaned on Mikado heavily throughout the design process - asking for design and creative thought was met with thoughtful, robust solutions. I'm happy to provide a complimentary interview over the phone to discuss your project goals and answer questions about working with me.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start with a phone conversation, FaceTime, or Zoom call to discuss your project and what kind of architectural and construction services you're looking for. After that we will meet on-site and in person to review design and next steps.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University. For ten years I worked for established architecture firms prior to starting MIKADO.
