Awesome! Crew arrived same day. Gave me a 10-minute window and were on time. They exceeded my expectations for yard cleanup, removal of old storage bin, small cactus removal, etc. Job was done well and to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend and will use them again.

After remodeling our two bathrooms, which Geoff did a fantastic job by paying attention to "all" the details, we have had him back several times for a variety other jobs. Each time he does a job for us we are confident he will treat us fairly and will do excellent work. He has become our go-to guy when we need home repairs or upgrading. We couldn't be happier with his work. Give him a call, you won't regret it.

He was very professional and polite. He arrived on time and worked until the issues were resolved. I had a ceiling fan replaced, another needed a new frequency so it wouldn't interfere with yet another ceiling fan and an outlet replaced. He ran into a problem with what I thought would be the "easy" job, the outlet replacement. He fixed the unforeseen problem without additional charge. His fee was very reasonable and fair. I would definitely call Ismael again for any electrical problems and solutions.

We have just listed our house, and I'm due to have my new baby at any time now. Mabeth fitted us in her schedule immediately. She and her husband arrived 10 minutes early and went straight to work. They worked long and hard and exceeded our expectations, even cleaning our windows, inside and out! When done, our house was spotless and smelled wonderful. They were very pleasant and quite proficient. We are continuing to use them. We researched many cleaning services, and her price was very reasonable.

My home needed Stucco repairs and a paint job. I got estimates from contractors on Thumbtack and Oscar's estimate was the best. i notified Oscar that their company was the one we were going to go with and the next day they were at my home working. They showed up early every day and took just three days to complete the Stucco repairs and paint my home and block walls. They do quality work.

Nick was great and very responsive. He was very busy but was able to fit me in. He replaced two interior doors for me and did an outstanding job. The price was fantastic, I had gotten quote from other contractors for much higher prices. Also I paid a big box store to replace a door a few years back they charged me triple and the work was poor quality. I have already hire Nick on the spot for another job.

Michael, was very helpful with three homes he has worked on for me. He remodeled bathroom with tile shower & floor. New vanity with vessel sink. I took his suggestion to insulate brick home (only 1 room was missing insulation); now my room is comfortable with temperature. He smoothed out my sheet rock walls and painted the whole house. He was able to get a carpeting company to come and install carpet in one day notice. My front porch; completed wood treatment and staining; for outdoor durability. My other home in Gilbert; he improved the value of the home; was able to sell the home for more than we had expected. (The first weekend, home was on market; we had five offers) He placed new kitchen counter, sink, faucet and painted all the cabinets with a two tone color. He updated the three baths with tile floors and new hardware throughout. He replaced three big windows in the home. Stair case painting was nice. The stucco painting was very nice. My mother's home; he replaced the back yard wood fence with wood treatment color. Refinished the whole roof, after a leak into one of the bedroom ceiling. That bedroom with water damage; he placed floor tile; painted walls and new fascia. The driveway is awesome with brick paver's throughout. Thank you for all the work you have done for us.

Our shower removal and replacement project, done by Bellino Contracting, was a big success and pressure free experience. Tim, Donnie and MaryAnn done a quality job removing the old shower and tiling the new one. Pleasing us was very important to them. The price of the project was fair and reasonable. They protected the carpet and cleaned up after themselves each day. I will use them again, and recommend their services to anyone doing a home project.

Jimmy’s first response and initial inspection were so professional and confidence inspiring it left no doubt that he was the man for my needs. He did not disappoint me, kept in contact, performed an excellent concrete replacement and left the site better than he found it. He will get my call for any future project in my home needs.

Formerly GA Wood Concepts, this Master Woodman was seriously missed upon his relocation to AZ. His tasks requested (Antique Bed Repair & Refinishing, Entertainment Case Reconstructed, and Office Bookshelf & Drawers Renovation) were beginning to grow to even more personalized projects that made our house more of a home. He was truly missed. A good wood-craftperson is very hard to find.

Promt, efficient, and friendly. Nathan was the first responder from Thumbtack. We immediately set up an appointment to assess my door repair and window replacement. They are both completed already! 100% professional. We've already made plans to repair my guest house kitchen.... Problem solved! Thanks Nathan, thanks Thumbtack! Highly recommendable.

Mike was great... He did exactly what he explained he would do... and did it perfectly! I can not encourage you enough to use him on your next job. He not only knew his stuff (which was easy to tell after talking to most of the other less knowledgeable people who gave us bids), but he was also prompt, courteous, friendly and a pleasure to have working in our home. He was actually low bid, but I can honestly say we would have hired him even if he wasn't. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would. Great guy and an incredibly competent and knowledgeable professional.

Tom has done a kitchen counter replacement which involved removing the old counter, cutting down the bar-height portion and preparing the space for the installers of the new countertop. He moved electric outlets, repaired walls, is building a shelf in one of the walls and will install the new sink, faucet and garbage disposal. So far we are very happy with the work Tom has completed. He has kept the area as clean as possible while doing very dusty demolition work. He has been timely, helpful and trustworthy with everything so far. And his work is excellent.

Once I submitted my request on thumbtacks website, I received several offers from local contractors to complete the job. After reviewing the submissions, I hired Benjamin Thurston to complete the project. He replaced four wooden patio posts at my home. The project was completed while I was at work and he kept me informed on the progress via text, sending me a photo once the repairs were completed. His response to my initial request and subsequent questions were expedient and efficient. His demeanor was polite and professional. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

    • Trim repair:
      • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
      • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
    • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
    • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
      • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
      • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
        • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
