They did a great job of cutting-up and removing a large branch from our Eucalyptus tree that had broken off and fallen into our yard. They were on time and worked quickly and efficiently. I would definitely recommend them, however, they could do a better job cleaning up when they're finished. Other than that, they were excellent.

We recently hired ERAPA Landscaping LLC for some general landscaping work, however, given their professionalism and outstanding customer service and quality of work; we have expanded our projects to include: monthly yard maintenance, irrigation system repair, trimming/pruning of trees, bushes, and hedges. The company’s attention to detail and outstanding customer service quickly caught the eye of my neighbors who have also sought his company’s services for their homes. We found the prices very competitive and the work top-notch! Sincerely, The Walker Family

We are very pleased with the work that Jose and his helper Carlos did. They were very professional. Showed up on time and stayed for the agreed amount of time. And the work they accomplished during that timeframe was exceptional. They cut a lot of our big tree down and even worked in the rain! Great clean up too.Very pleased with their work and pleasant attitudes. Clay and Anne Adams

I hired Larry's Landscaping to do a complete makeover on my back yard and front side yard. He also included a complete clean up with new rock in the front of the house. I'm not sure if I can put into words what a fantastic job he and his partner did. Larry shared my vision for what I wanted done but did a much better job than ever expected!! They started March 15th and finished March 25th. My yard was an utter mess of overgrown weeds and unknown plants. They worked so hard clearing that all out and got to building the new landscaping. He knew the problems I had with flooding during monsoon season and fixed it. Jobs included a brick patio, artificial grass area, a waterfall, fire pit, a huge planter area for gardening and plants, taking down a tree and making a parking area and planting an orange tree with some plants, all new gravel rock and clean up of plants in the front. He even found me organic dirt for the garden. The transformation is beyond fantastic!!! They work so hard not wasting any time. Larry involves you in all decisions and they are so kind and professional. I have no doubt I chose the right company!! I will surely call him for all future projects. The pictures will speak for themselves.

Ociel cleared out an overgrown border where a fence will be installed. He removed two small trees and transplanted another tree to a different location. He cleared out some dense greasewood and carefully cut back other bushes. Ociel is very professional. He arrived ready to go to work and completed the job in a timely manner. Everything was cleaned up and raked. Ociel did a fine job and I would recommend him without any reservations.

Forrest and crew removed a 30 ft. canopy/15 in. dia. trunk mesquite tree from my front yard and ground the stump down. They took care in protecting my block wall/wrought iron and cacti. Punctual, meticulous, friendly, hard working. Very satisfied. Will definitely hire them again for my landscape needs.

Jesus did a great job. Cleaned up completely after finishing the job. He even trimmed the remaining tree to my, and his, satisfaction. Very knowledgeable about what he does. I had 4 other quotes, and his was in the middle price range.

Fernando was great and very easy to work with! He responded quickly and did a great job trimming our huge trees in the backyard and picking up all of our tree branches (it was definitely a tough and time consuming job). I would highly recommend him for yard work. His price is also incredibly reasonable and he was willing to work in the very early morning to accommodate our work schedules, which I truly appreciated. Overall, excellent job!

I requested Khris's assistance trimming numerous trees on the property as well as removing rats nests in the front yard. His knowledge, hard work and pride in what he does was apparent from the start. While ground work is not his main focus he knew that trimming the trees properly would eliminate a lot of debris on the ground which was housing the little varmints. He also explained that if trees are trimmed properly it promotes healthy growth for the tree and for the aesthetic you desire or growth in a way that is not destructive to buildings/power lines and such. I was very impressed and pleased with the expert job he did. Not only that, the price was fair for both of us. I recommend Khris to anyone needing expert tree care. He's honest and realistic when quoting a job and reliable, respectful and a pleasure to work with.

Great job guys! I highly recommend you contact Julian at Duran Landscaping and ask for an estimate on Thumbtack the next time you need landscaping done. He’s very responsive and extremely competitive on price.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

    • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
    • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
