Josiah K. says, "As a Lifestyle & Events Manager at a luxury residential property, I have the pleasure of curating experiences that bring our community together—and working with Coach Phanat (Coach P) for our Disco HIIT: Sweat & Beats event was a true highlight! Coach P is an exceptional fitness professional with a strong background in kickboxing and personal training, and his expertise was on full display during the session. He brought an infectious energy, expert guidance, and a deep commitment to both safety and fun, ensuring that residents felt both challenged and supported throughout the workout. His ability to personalize the experience turned a small group session into what felt like an exclusive, one-on-one training experience—something our residents truly appreciated. Beyond his skills as a trainer, Coach P’s familiarity with San Francisco and understanding of our community’s lifestyle made him an instant fit for our wellness programming. He was so impressed by our property, amenities, and engaged resident culture that he has graciously offered to return next month to lead a Kickboxing Bootcamp—a class we are confident will draw even more interest! If you’re looking for a dynamic, knowledgeable, and resident-focused fitness coach who makes every session engaging, effective, and fun, Coach P is the one to call! We’re excited to continue collaborating with him and highly recommend his expertise to any fitness or wellness program."See more

What makes my services stand out is I my ability to relate to my client and understand what they’re looking for in a personal trainer. Ive been moving my body and in the gym for most of my life but I don’t come from the “bodybuilding world.” I really tailor your exercise program to whatever your goals may be. I don’t have the same program for any of my clients. I emphasize the type of training that makes you a well rounded individual with strength In multiple areas. Training hard will never be boring and I’m great at making you train hard in an easy ways, This will keep you motivated on reaching your goals. I specialize in resistance training, sports performance, and post rehab and prehab.See more

Jeff R. says, "I didn't get overweight and out of shape overnight and I wasn't going to be thin after a few workouts. I needed help to turn things around. I needed to find a trainer who would be there with me and help me reach my goals. If you are considering what type of trainer will meet their needs let me share why I recommend Steve over other options. I needed a trainer who would be there while I workout. Not someone that I text when I workout and send pictures. Steve is right there, just like a trainer should be. Even though we are in 2 different states, he is right there through the entire workout, which has many positives. I can work out at home. - I don't have to go to the gym. This makes me more comfortable not being around a bunch of people and saves me time. It is amazing how challenging a workout can be without using any weights. He watches what I can and can't do and makes adjustments so I don't hurt myself (especially my back) but also is pushing me so I am challenged. He provides constant feedback and encouragement throughout the workout. He keeps track of reps and progress while I focus on form and breathing. In our last workout I did 20 reps of something and he mentioned, in our first workout I couldn't even do 1. Hiring a trainer means you are "investing in yourself" but you don't need to spend more to get more. I couldn't be happier about my decision for a trainer."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.
