Nice guy, not just cut and paste responses. really cares and is funny and real. So much better then going to see a nutritionist in a doc office and cheaper. So awesome to just text him everything

Eric is great. Very knowledgable guy who makes hard work fun. Sign up. The system is geared for personal attention, but without the cost of a personal trainer. Nutrition is part of the plan too!!

Jamie Hanton is the best Personal Trainer I have ever met. He is incredibly knowledgable in all areas of fitness and nutrition, thete has never been a question I've asked him that he couldn't answer. I feel like I learn something new every single session about movement/technique/positive or negative effects of different foods or drinks/how hormone imbalances effect our body's appearance etc. We have trained consistently now for two years, three times a week and I have never been stronger or fitter than I am now. I had numerous body challenges that he had to work with and slowly and safely correct, four children under the age of 8, three c-sections, severe back & pelvis weakness and he has pushed me to the limit every time, every workout and I have never gotten injured which is crucial for me. We do a lot of boxing training, mitt work, heavy bag work, drilling combos, lifting weights, every session is different. We are constantly evolving, each session we will push it a little more and it's all functional movement that I carry on throughout my day (squatting down to pick up the kids instead of bending over and potentially straining my back for instance). He is the voice inside my head at the store or when I eat out as he has taught me so much about what is actually in some of our "food" , why certain foods are trigger foods etc, sometimes I'll send him a photograph of something and check with him is it something that I should be eating or drinking. He walks the walk and talks the talk. He is extremely fit, trains every day and eats cleanly. He is fantastic and he is a very nice person. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Working with Vanesa has been awesome. Both my partner and I hired her as our nutritionist. She has taken the time to help us see our individual challenges with food and how small, incremental changes can be sustainable. She checks in on us daily and we meet by phone weekly. Working with her has really inspired us and the pacing of change has been perfect. Vanesa is a true professional.

Chad is highly professional and knowledgeable in his craft. Due to my schedule, it's hard to get to a physical therapist/sports massage during business hours, so a surgery recommended contacting him and I was able to get an evening appointment! Did not disappoint and I will be back for another session.

My daughter played for a very competive ECNL team in the OC and she partially tore her achilis and had a very bad high Ankle sprain and bone bruising. Cary at Rise and Fly Sports helped her speed up her recovery and return back to her club team in better shape than before her injury!!! Totally recommend him to any athlete trying to strive to the next level!!! Thank you Cary!!! Go Blues!!!!

Pamela did an incredible job in helping to prepare me for, during, and after pregnancy. She gave great bespoke preconception recommendations and advice, leading to an easy pregnancy and my beautiful, happy and healthy baby. She also helped me postpartum to get my health and body back on track. She’s not only extremely knowledgeable and passionate in her field, but she’s also very caring and sensitive. I genuinely couldn’t recommend a better holistic nutritionist for pre and postnatal care!

Jake has coached me for the past 4 years and mentored me as a coach the past 2. Jake has changed my life as an athlete, coach, individual and as a mother. When I first met Jake I was facing back surgery, in time he helped me to recover, rehab and to achieve things in this sport I thought unimaginable. His knowledge & passion about triathlon, nutrition, mental strengthening is second to none. Jake has also coached my son teaching him to ride a bike, and with his swim & run technique. You will not find a more humble, passionate, knowledgeable, giving and supportive coach/person. Thank you

It's only been a short amount of time working with Alina, but I can already see the benefits. I was very hesitant about looking for a nutritionist, I thought they would be pushy or judgemental and not understand what I need. I felt completely at ease after our meeting, she was informative, understanding, and gives me just the right of amount of push. I'm glad I that I found her and would recommend her services.

I am an athlete who does motorcross and crossfit competitions. Endurance is critical in my sporting events. Tony provided me with a meal plan, supplementation regimen, and a weight training program that ultimately increased my muscle mass and endurance while cutting my bodyfat by 10%. Highly recommend his service.

Intuitive Eating is where it is at for me. I believe life is to be enjoyed while being mindful. Lisa has an important message: trust yourself. Find out if you are eating because of hunger or something else. If it is not hunger, one can go to the next step and figure out (not easy) what is it that is bothering them. I found out I eat out of boredom. Now, I try to stop. The only pressure in this work is to listen to your own voice. I hope everyone will do this work. I also, learned by the end of the week the body balances its nutritional intake. Thank you, Lisa.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.
