I am 57 years old (no Spring chicken) and came to Thomas for tenor sax lessons. My purpose is to perform and record sax solos for classic rock and blues. Thomas does a great job with understanding my goals and giving me a road map to achieve them. Very patient and intuitive.

Richard was an amazing private tenor saxophone teacher for me back when I was in high school. I had him for 5 years from middle school all the way till I went to college. He was so insightful and full of musical talent and knowledge. But he never let you slack. If you were at all not performing up to the talent he knew in each of his students so well, he would push you. He eally had his way on making me and everyone else shine! The recitals we had were also incredible and I, completely because of him, played some of the best and highs degree of music, most of which I thought I could never achieve! I hope to pick up my lessons with him again when returning home from college and wish him the best of luck!

For my 60th birthday, I decided that I would finally learn to play the saxophone, forty years after I gave up the clarinet. I have been taking weekly saxophone lessons from Fay for about nine months now, and will continue to do so. Fay is a very patient and encouraging teacher. She has taught me some music theory that I had never learned before, as well as the mechanics of playing the tenor sax. In addition, she is a talented improviser, and her love of music is always apparent. Lessons consist of a nice blend of scales and exercises, along with some very satisfying pieces of jazz and classical music. I recommend Fay without hesitation or reservation.

I began taking sax lessons with Rick just after graduating high school. I had already been playing for a few years and Rick helped me to take my playing beyond the next level, teaching me everything from a proper approach to the basics I had already studied all the way up to making a living as a professional musician. I wish I had taken lessons with Rick from the beginning as I would have saved myself a lot of time, energy and frustration. He has a gift for making complicated things seem simple. In the very first lessons he fixed bad habits I had with my tone, embouchure, and ability to read rhythms. In addition, he has an awesome system for teaching jazz improvisation that is unlike anything I’ve ever come across. I’ve know many of his other students and the usual comment I get from them is how great his system is and how fast they learned to improvise from Rick. I’ve been a professional musician for many years which is something that never would have happened without Rick. He cared deeply about my progress and made learning music fun and easy. He taught me skills that go far beyond basic musicality, which have served me well in my life and career. I’ve lived in Los Angeles my whole life and have never studied with a better teacher than Rick Rossi. Thank you Rick!

I had my very first Saxophone lessons today, and I could not be more pleased that Mr. Joel Sturm is the one teaching me. It has only been an hour, yet, there are already a lot of things about the sax that he taught me. I have no doubt on his knowledge and how he shares this knowledge with me as a student. He is outstanding. Aside from the lessons, I also felt home and it was so comfortable, with him and his wife being so warm to students. I am looking forward to learning more from him, and I claim that this will mark my journey towards being a good sax player in the future. All thanks to him. I’d definitely come back every week, and would recommend him to anyone interested to learn making music. 😊

I am an intermediate tenor saxophone player and started lessons with Dennis in hopes of improving my jazz improvisations skills. Because of Dennis' ability to identify my strengths and areas in need of improvement, I've progressed quickly and because Dennis has a fun, patient demeanor, I have a great time at our lessons. He has a convenient location (I never have problems parking, even though it's Los Angeles!) and he is flexible in terms of scheduling. Dennis is an smart and intuitive teacher and has a highly developed approach to music, so I strongly recommend him whether your goal is to take your playing to the next level or to learn something new.

I feel extremely lucky to have found Jonathan. He is an incredible teacher with a huge amount of knowledge and expertise in the alto sax. His ability to teach all levels is pretty outstanding. I had a basic foundation in alto and its been exciting to see his teaching techniques improve my sound, understanding of rhythms, and music theory to new levels. Do yourself a favor and do not miss this opportunity to be taught by one of the best.

Sam is the sax instructor for my son Milo. Most importantly, Milo loves Sam and looks forward to the lessons... he is inspired to practice and look good at the lesson which is very helpful. Sam is kind and friendly and funny and has greatly improved my son's playing. I feel fortunate to have Sam teaching my son, and I recommend him highly.

I hired Murray to play his sax at my Granmothers outdoor graveside service in late October. He played several songs at the start of the service and several songs at the end. The service was approximately 45 mins long with about 25 attendees. He was very good, on time, respectful and appropriately dressed. People were impressed.

My daughter Kayla has been taking clarinet lessons with Hiroshi for the past 4 years. I found out about Hiroshi through a friend whose son was taking lessons through Torrance Yamaha. Over the years, he has helped Kayla with all of her challenging band music and gave solo pieces to challenge her abilities. With all of the extra activities my daughter participates in, we sometimes had to reschedule lessons on a different day than usual and we truly appreciate Hiroshi's flexibility. I know many teachers are strict in their scheduling and we totally understand that! Thank you Hiroshi for being an excellent teacher for Kayla!
