Nuria Fortier was my Spanish teacher for fall 2014 through the International Language School for Children and Adults. I am an adult, beginner level spanish language student with some previous beginner coursework. Our Saturday morning one-hour classes are held at Pitzer College and ran from September through December into January. I am very impressed with Nuria's language instruction. She meets the students where he/she is in their learning, yet also helps you to challenge yourself (for example speaking as much as possible in Spanish during lesson). She stresses the importance of grammar and verb conjugation structures within conversational Spanish lesson. She constructs lessons so that we come into contact with verbs and then we address the conjugation. She recommended two very good books for beginner level that we use during the lesson, and also introduces fun story reading (at children's level which is actually very good for beginner adult learner). Nuria is very professional and reliable, and encouraging for an adult language learner! Nothing negative to report. Nuria has also created a local Spanish speaking group of current and former students who meet to practice Spanish and I am looking forward to joining this group. Thank you Nuria! I recommend ILSCA and Nuria Fortier for Spanish language. Her Children's programs are also very well attended.

I would especially like to thank Devia for her efforts and appreciate her immense energy dealing with kids of all ages. I never thought that this mode of learning could be that beneficial. My son is attending English classes for few months and need not to say the amount of finishing he got in his writing skills. This also changed his way of looking around sorroundings before going further because that's what get reflected in your content. I would highly recommend these classes for kids of all ages.

Miss Marguerite is a great piano teacher. She approaches her music lessons through a variety of techniques and methods that always keeps our daughter engaged. She teaches her music theory, music appreciation, rhythm, play by ear and the ability to read music. She differentiates the needs of each of her students and taps into their styles and preferences. Our daughter has learned a lot under her tutelage.

About

In 2010, I received my bachelor of arts in classical voice from California State University San Bernardino. Then I continued my education and received my master of music in classical voice from Manhattan School of Music and graduated in 2012. Currently, I teach music part-time at a Catholic School in Covina and sing every Sunday as the soprano soloist for Pilgrim Congregational Church in Pomona. I believe in a healthy and natural approach to singing. I also believe that a singer should be trained in music theory, rhythm and ear training. I teach both of these essential aspects in my lessons. During the 2007-08 academic year, I studied abroad in Southern Germany through CSUSB's International Program. For an entire year, I studied the German language while I continued my studies in voice. The summer between my master's degree, I studied in Florence, Italy. Those days were spent eating, breathing, learning the Italian language and way of life. I share both of these experiences with you because as a classical soloist, it is required that you sing and preferably speak in as many languages as possible. With time spent in both these beautiful countries, I had the opportunity to completely embrace the culture and language. I realize you may not want to be a classical singer; however, if you learn the technique of one, I guarantee you can sing any type of music you please. You see, in Opera there are no microphones or anything to enhance the volume of one's voice. Therefore, one has no choice but to do it correctly. My goal as your teacher will be to help you understand your voice and for you sing to the best of your ability, with a healthy and natural technique.
