Pete has been helping us with our very energetic and curious black lab for about the past ten months. He has come to our house for trainings and we have been able to join him and our pup on training walks. Pete helps train our pup and also takes him on dog walks 3x a week. Pete's walks are no ordinary walk in the park! Our pup could be on an outing up in the trails or could have spent the afternoon swimming!! Our pup loves Pete and is always excited to head off on an adventure with him. We have also been able to board our pup with Pete which was a great experience as we knew our pup would be loved and cared for exceptionally well. We are fortunate to have found a skilled and caring dog trainer!
Courtney is one heck of an amazing trainer! She is not only wonderful with dogs, but she also has an incredible talent for working with people, too. She will help you to understand your dog's behaviors and she emphasizes fixing problematic behaviors instead of just managing them. I can't recommend her enough for anything from puppy training to advanced obedience and fear-based behaviors.
Logan was great to work with. Our family enjoyed learning how to train our new puppy. He was able to teach us how to walk our puppy, we’ve been trying for weeks now. Looking forward to see results. Logan was great with our puppy and the kids, very professional and comes with lots of experience!
Tammy began training and working with our chocolate lab when he was 11 months old. While our dog went to stay with Tammy for 2 weeks, we often wondered what was occurring, as we knew that Rudi was strong willed as a puppy and often destructive. During the 2 week training time, we would get messages and even a video or 2 sent to us, showing the progress that she was making with Rudi. After 2 weeks, Rudi returned with behaviors on lease that made realize that with consistency our dog could demonstrate and practice good training behaviors. Tammy has a strong communication system established with our dog so he understands what is expected of him when we walk or work in the house. He really looks forward to seeing Tammy. Even more, Tammy continues to work with us and our dog on a weekly basis, working to train us as well as the dog. We are so pleased with our dog, his training ( which is praise based, not treat based) and our weekly sessions with Tammy. She really wants everyone to be successful.
Les is wonderful. He had new training skills for us to work on each time. He is very friendly and structures the training on what you decide is important for your dog. He would make sure I was walking or training my pup correctly before each session was over. If didn't quite train our dog enough by our next session, Les never made me feel guilty:) I recommend Executive Canine Services for a positive training experience!
My Newfypoo pup Jelly Bean is a handful, especially considering I have never had a dog before. I was fortunate enough to stumble on John Vinton's site, after being dropouts from Sirius group puppy training. His technique is unique as he does not advocate stuffing the dog with never ending treats. Instead, consistent reinforcement of commands accompanied with appropriate overwhelming praise when deserved. We're only 3 lessons in. I am so proud of my Bean, especially when compared to other dogs we meet on our walks. We both still have a lot to learn and with the help of "A Better Dog Trainer" I know we'll be successful.
I loved that she was able to come out to our home. For a very fair price. Thank you for your time and expertise.
Kevin is very responsive, friendly, and most of all, great with my 1 year old recently rescued pup, who comes home from his walks tired and happy. He's also very helpful with tips on how to help your dog work on any issues.
We brought home two Cairn Terrier pups. It had been 12 years since we had trained a puppy, and we knew we needed a refresher course. We went to a local groomer / boarding facility for help, and it was like a time share pitch. I won’t go in to details. So we found Maj on Thumbtack. I told her right away that we humans wanted to be trained; we didn’t want somebody to offer us ready-for-use puppies, pre-trained for our convenience. We needed to be refreshed on how to live with our new pups, and how to make them happy to live with us. Well. Maj is perfect. She loves dogs and she knows what she’s doing. She has worked with us to make the whole family one. Our biggest problem has been the puppies piddling on the floor, and she had many suggestions to overcome this problem. She also consulted with her mentors to help us (our pups were a hard case). We have found a solution, and we’ve made great progress. We continue to work with Maj to train our pups to listen to us and be the great family members we want them to be. We continue to work with Maj to be the best puppy owners we can be. We’re completely satisfied.
I met Emily by chance walking our dog Stella. Stella is an American Staffordshire Terrier whom we rescued through the Peninsula Humane Society when she was 5 months old. They had found her running in and out of traffic. Stella is a sweet and loving dog, and full of lots of energy. Emily noted Stella and I walking, or I should say her pulling me as I tried to not let her pull me. Despite having her 2 years, we still didn’t have the training thing down. My partner and I had been looking for a trainer but for whatever reason, just never found the right person or took the time to jump into it. Walking with her through our neighborhood in SOMA could be a challenge, and I have to admit, kind of sucked. We were using a harness that clipped on the back. Emiliy advised that what I was doing was “literally how you train sled dogs” and advised a front lead harness. She gave me a card and made some recommendations of harnesses that I could find on line. The next day, I went and got a front lead harness and put it on Stella. OMG. Like a different dog. She wasn’t pulling and would actually walk beside me. I took a video and emailed my partner, and said “You won’t believe it!”. I called Emily and we hired her that day. The changes that we have seen in Stella have been unbelievable. We live in SOMA and went from a pulling dog who would bark at skateboarders, jump up on little kids, and eat everything on the ground (including homeless pooh – gross!) to a dog who is interactive with us, plays agility games (jumping up or standing on hydrants for a treat), backing up from children and sitting calmly for attention, totally ignoring skateboarders, and leaving homeless pooh and other things where they belong, on the ground. I am amazed that this is the same dog. What I love the most about Emily and her training is that her techniques are about management and engaging your dog. Stella is Stella. My partner and I don’t believe in shock collars, aggressive management or training your dog into submission. The first part of her life was hard enough, we want a relationship with our dog of trust and love. Emily understands and advocates this theory. Stella is who she is. She is still the happy, rambunctious, energetic dog who loves life, people, and other dogs. What Emily showed us is how to channel that energy into productive and fun ways of expression. The training has really built a closer bond with Stella and she is very focused on us as we walk. The walks have actually become really fun. The true test came last week up in Santa Rosa where we have a home in the country. Stella goes crazy over the wildlife (turkey, deer, rabbits, etc). She will often try to get out and chase them. A front door was inadvertently left open and Stella escaped from our home and ran down the driveway, near the cow pasture. This is a dangerous spot and she has run under the fence and chased the cows in the past. My partner said, “back up” from about 200 yards away. She stopped, turned, came running back up the driveway and sat at us feet. Unbelieveable. I highly recommend Emily! The money and time was worth the improved quality of life that we have with our family member, Stella.
She came over within a day and helped us learn how to teach our puppy and we left with 3 tricks down!
Emily is fantastic! She began working with our 6 month old weim only 4 weeks ago, and he is already a different dog. He has learned to be better on the leash, developing better response to commands such as sit and stay. Emily truly listens to the needs of the family and is very responsive to the individual dog needs. She is dependable, responsible and when you meet her, you can just feel her passion and dedication to puppy training. She sent us regular daily updates about our puppy's progress, including video clips. When we first started, our puppy was shy of other dogs, but after only 2 weeks, he was braver and more assertive in the dog park with other pets. Emily is a pleasure to work with and we have just signed up for another 4 weeks of training to continue building on the progress our doggies has made. She is down to earth and caring. She is also not afraid to say when something isn't working, which we truly appreciated. Our dog didn't like the halti leash, so after a couple of weeks of training, Emily came up with a different leash option and was very honest about the reasons for the change. It's refreshing to work with such a professional. Thank you, Emily, for all your dedication and hard work!
She is very knowledgeable. We saw our dog improve within one training.
Gail is amazing! She walks Tucker 4+ days a week and is always on time, friendly and reliable. She sends daily videos and takes Tucker and his friends to different parks throughout the city. Additionally she has cared for him overnight at my house. I trust her 100% and am so lucky to have her care for my puppy while I am away. Happy to have her in my life and so is Tucker.
Lisa provides very helpful tips on how we could address unwanted puppy behaviours. We will definitely ask her to come back in the future.
Sylvette is part of the family already! Flexible with times, sweet, funny and she loves our Chappie as much as he loves her. Her walks are always varied and interesting and our dog gets great exercise working off his 1 1/2 yr old pent-up energy. When she first got Chappie, he was a shy young man, not at ease with other dogs. Now, thanks to her loving encouragement he's opened right up and now has made lots of other two-legged and four-legged friends. He runs to her when she gets here to pick him up and returns to us as happy as ever. She gives him love as if he were her own, keeps up our training/discipline regimen and only gives him delicious healthy treats and food. She's even watched him for a week while we were out of town. We've been through larger dog walking services and we will never go back. Longue Vie Sylvette!
Stoakly, had issues with leash pulling, attentiveness and general obedience. After working with Keynoe with his 3 week transformative program, Stoakly is a completely different dog! Listens to basic commands when we walk and is so much calmer. We even had the opportunity to hang out with other dogs at the local park - the dogs got along so well and Keynoe managed all their behaviors at once. I was really impressed by how easy Keynoe is to work with, his professionalism and flexibility when working with me and Stoakly 1:1. I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for help with training and even if you just want a fun and reliable friend for your dog.
Laika was so great with my French Beagle! After the third time Henri peed on the couch I knew it was time to seek professional help and Laika fit the bill. I was worried about entrusting my puppy's well-being with a stranger but Laika was so professional and friendly and Henri looks forward to her visits every week now.
AmberJoy has been Zeus dog walker for almost a year now. At first we did training with AmberJoy and the outcome was beyond amazing. AmberJoy is very knowledgeable, kind hearted and incredibly skilled. The training experience was life changing and Zeus is totally happy going to playgroups with his friends.
I had KeChaunte Johnson watch my two bichon frise dogs for a weekend. The oldest is calm but the youngest puppy can be rowdy. She was able to handle all the responsibilities I gave her. I definitely recommend her!
