FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Listen to the client. Brainstorm on what it is that they want to achieve with a video. How does the client want their story told? Is it going to a company website? I expand the ideas of what they are looking for including asking if they are interested in having distribution in YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Have an idea of what it is that you want to create and also what's in your budget. This includes knowing what it is you want your video to convey. Also, be forthright with the videographer when talking price. Its much easier when you tell the videographer that you have $300.00 to spend than to nickel and dime him/her and to give them a price they can work with. Customer satisfaction is a key element that I provide and feel that every videographer should provide.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Cost! Video has become an accepted (and major) format for communicating ideas across the internet. So before talking to a professional about shooting a video (or any aspect of a video project), ideally it's better to consider asking several things, including: "What is my budget for this video?", "What am I willing to spend?", "What is my idea and/or story that I want told?", and overall to ask, "Ultimately, what do I want to communicate/display/see about my project?" This is better than just asking, "How much is this going to cost me?". The customer comes first, so one of the ideas that I'd share with them is the following: See what it is that You can afford first and what your vision is. Then see what a videographer is able to do for you and to work within your budget.
