He is disciplined in his approach; no short cuts or progressing a student just for the sake of appeasing a parents desire to get from level 1 to 10. He allows us to suggest and play music we like as well as well as work on theory, which has helped everyone. My older son accelerated in jr orchestra (mariba). We are learning and playing both classical music, blues, and jazz. Just cool. -stu "See more

Sondra T. says, "I contacted StookU and told them what I expected from a teacher, and they paired me with Johnny-Ray, who is AMAZING! Every lesson is taped so you are able to go and back and review. There is also a Google doc link with uploaded material as you learn. The cost of lessons is reasonable. The best part, though, is my teacher, Johnny-Ray. He plays several instruments and is knowledgable about music theory and music history. When asked a question, he always has the answer. I take guitar with him. I liked him so much that my husband also started taking guitar lessons with him, but he teaches other things too. My hsuband enjoys the lessons as well. Johnny-Ray is a quality teacher. My husband and I are at different levels on the guitar and have different goals, and he created a separate and distinct lesson plan for each of us. He is always on time and ready to work. I have nothing but glowing things to say about him. A+ Experience."See more

So when Maya turned 6 me and my wife contacted Almaden School of Music and Art" looking to sign her up for music classes. After trying couple of teachers it became clear to us that we were not satisfied with the teachers due to their strict nature making the class dreadful. Gladly we finally landed couple of sessions with Debora and instantly knew that she would be the right teacher. The reason we were extremely happy with Debora because she specifically knew how to teach kids. She was very professional but made the class fun and that was key because we were in it for the long term. Debora style of teaching was pragmatic and most important of all she made sure that the our Kid was always interested and engaged. We worked with Debora for six years and she was extremely professional. I recommend Debora to anyone who wants to learn Piano. You will NOT be disappointed."See more
