I really enjoy working out at Shape up Studio. Gym: Very clean. No bad odors. They don't try to give you heat stroke by keeping it as a sweat box inside. There are clorox wipes everywhere. My trainer Vince really takes pride in the gym, and is constantly wiping things down on his down time. The design of the gym gives you a comfortable feel and flow. The bathrooms are exquisite! They are always clean, smell fresh...I think it's the amazing hand soap, and they just got electric trash cans. Thy gym also has WiFi and televisions. They also have Pandora playing during your workouts. Intake: I have been working out at the studio since August 2014. Your first workout is a training assessment with Markshane. He takes all of your measurements & then gives you a personal training workout with himself to assess your strengths and weeknesses. Boi is that a tough workout! Then you discuss what schedule is best for you and what kind of training. 1 free visit with the on site massage therapist and nutritionist. I do both personal training (2 days/week) and "group" (3 days/week). I put quotes around "group" because the groups are always small. They vary from 2-8ppl, and the workout still feels like personal training!! My trainer Vince also trains the group and I love that everyday is different!!! I love my results and know that without personal training, I could never push myself to get results like my trainer does. The pushing is also subtle. One day your using 5lbs dumbells, then 8 lbs, then 10lbs. Or you're doing deadlifts with 20lbs, then 50lbs. It just happens...lol...no discussion. Also, if you're competitive like myself, working out in the group will motivate you to push harder; do more crunches or squats than the person next to you! Lol. FYI: group is Tue/Thur/Sat- 6pm/6pm/9am. My hope is that this will increase as more people sign up. Also, there's a crazy amount of digital clocks around the gym, unfortunately all of them have a different time.

I've been working out with Megan at Every Body’s Fit twice a week since November 2012 and highly recommend her. The workouts are fantastic and Megan really challenges you by making them progressively more difficult each session. Since starting with her, I am seeing significantly more definition in my legs, arms, chest, back, and torso, basically everywhere. Her rates are reasonable, about the same you'd pay somewhere like 24 hour fitness, and you get to work out in a nicer gym. Most importantly Megan is a great personal trainer and she gets RESULTS!!!!

If you are looking to get in the best shape of your life or to get some motivation to set some healthy nutrition and fitness goals, Lauren Allen is your woman! After having my third child and feeling very out of shape, she came to my rescue and developed several nutrition and fitness plans that I worked on. She provided encouragement and support when I felt like I couldn't keep going and pushed me to be my best. I can confidently say that Lauren Allen was the key in helping me get into the best shape of my life! She is exceptional at what she does and thrives off of helping others reach their goals. She is very knowledgeable and also makes sure to focus on form and doing each exercise correctly and safely. The best part about what Lauren does is she customizes a plan for each person's goals and body type. She takes her time to get to know her clients and what they need. I highly recommend Lauren Allen as your new personal trainer and can guarantee her services will be the best gift you can give yourself!

Before I worked with Andrea, I had personal health issues, uneven strength on my body due to knee surgery that was 10 years ago, and not much experience with weight training. All I did was cardio and I noticed that wasn't helping me lose any body fat for the long run. I was also too shy to work in the weight rooms at public gyms, so I looked up a personal trainer. As a nutrition coach, she really makes you look at eating clean not as a "diet" but as a "change in health". I no longer looked to foods for comfort, but enjoyed having a more nutritious diet. My cravings for sweets stopped and my moods definitely boosted, which I think are the most important things in order to lose fat. Andrea really designs workouts specified for your goals and your body. She knows what she's doing and she has the professionalism that helps you through the workouts mentally. In the 7 months I've trained with her, it definitely was not an easy task. Focusing on my health, staying disciplined in my training, and fighting through plateaus - but without her I could not have done it myself. I am now noticeably leaner and stronger and have evenly strengthened my body. Most importantly, I feel better about myself and want to continue on this positive cycle throughout my life. She definitely beats any nutritional book or workout video you'll ever encounter, and I would highly recommend her to anyone!!! Thank you Andrea!

I worked with Chef Francoise Brana in Croatia on a 45m Motor Yacht for a good part of the summer season. When she arrived, I was very pleased to see offhand that she was going to be a pleasure to work with. She was friendly, open and conducted herself in a very pleasant and professional way. Being the Chief Stewardess, it is so important to have a close working relationship with the chef and since I have worked with many that have not so agreeable, I really appreciated everything about Chef Brana as I got to know her over the season. She is kind and caring and always made sure each crew member was happy with the food they were presented with. We had a number of different nationalities on board and a few with dietary specifications - a vegetarian, a crew member with a sensitive stomach, myself with wheat, gluten and diary sensitivities and then the others with their own likes and dislikes and ways of eating. Chef Brana always made sure each person had something that they could eat and enjoy and have enough energy to perform the daily tasks at hand. I am predominantly a vegetarian and really appreciated the delicious, nutritious, creative and healthy vegetarian food prepared by Chef Brana on a daily basis. The meat eaters would happily eat their selection dishes and could not wait to climb into her vegetarian selection as well since it was such good food and complimented the meat perfectly. She uses her knowledge of health and the importance of good nutrition and a balanced diet to create meals for those who do not eat meat, enabling them to have the same energy levels and infact an even healthier life style. She is an absolute pleasure to be around, always made me smile and laugh and I would highly recommend her first and foremost as a highly capable chef and secondly a wonderful person and employee/co-worker. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions. Kind regards, Tatyana Silberman

Dina is awesome! So motivating, fun & the positive push needed from a personal trainer. Her energy to motivate me to do more, to be better, to feel strong is the perfect fit for me. She knows her stuff and you feel her warmth with the guidance she shares. I leave her sweaty & tired, and a bit of selfish "who-hoo" that I made it through the workout! I'm going to see her tomorrow!

I train with Monica for almost a Year, it was so far one the best experience i have with personal trainer. Patience, professional, transparent and well educated. Was fun, i lost weight and also I learn to know my body and how to feed him. She always encourage me, give good tips and never make me fell bad if something didn't work the first time. I try different personal trainer before and normally as a crappy experience, definitely I recommend Monica has a trainer, on this time where everybody claim be a personal trainer, shes is proving every time you train with her she answer you the most honest possible and realistic with out magical pills just follow her lead do your workout and eating clean.

Krista is a personal trainer and does a great job. She listens to her client and then develops a personalized workout program to fit their needs. She knows how hard to push the client to get the needed results, but not so hard that it destroys the spirit. I can not speak any higher for Krista, she is a great trainer and will better you life if you give her the chance. Hire her!!

I contacted Kate awhile back as I was dealing with many, many issues with my digestive system and over-all well being. I had previously been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and IBS. Kate helped me identify my trigger foods and come up with a personalized nutritional plan that helped me come to terms with my body's individual needs. I would recommend Kate to any of my friends and family. Thanks Kate!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
