  • Elena's Piano Lessons

    (3 reviews)

My experience in piano instruction is more than 25 years. My music career began in Russia, when I was 19 y.o. I got my degree as piano teacher and accompanist.Since 1995 I moved to U.S. and started my own piano studio teaching piano and electric keyboard.I was playing at different events, working as accompanist for some singers and music studios in Pleasanton, San Ramon. I also provide training as needed in theory, and singing along your accompaniment as well as basic chord system. I make my lessons fun, and always follow your individual skills. I have my great library and never push to purchase any music book unless you want some particular music. I train children, from six y.o. to adults age.It is never late to start your music lessons! The length of lessons and payments are variable. I could work as an accompanist to any solo instrument or to a singer who needs piano accompaniment. Also I play piano or electric keyboard for different types of events.

I include theory instruction in my lessons and will teach how to read music, as well as the notes on the keyboard. I can also teach a student to play from lead sheets, which are a line of melody in the treble clef with chord symbols indicated above the melody.

Ten years of teaching experience coupled with over 40 years of experience in playing the piano and love of kids are my keys to success. Children as young as three and as old as 16 have enjoyed starting piano lessons, so age is relative to the interest of the student. I travel to clients in Danville, Alamo, and Walnut Creek. If you are interested in beginning lessons or just need a refresher, give me a call. Lessons cost $45 for 30 minutes. The first lesson is always free!

  • Private Voice Lessons

    (6 reviews)

My name is Courtney Bowles. I am a professional singer and private voice teacher in Walnut Creek. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from San Diego State University and have 15 years of training under three renowned voice teachers Mary MacKensie, Michelle Latour and Ronit Levy-Widman. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I love helping my students find confidence in themselves through their voices. Every lesson includes vocal exercises focusing on technique and song work incorporating the specific techniques we are working on at the moment. Students work on multiple songs at a time to keep their repertoire growing and to keep the student working on different parts of the singing process at one time. Students don't just learn the songs they learn how to perform them. I start with teaching the melody and vocal line. Then we move to putting the song to the piano accompaniment, adding dynamic changes and phrasing. Once the song is put together with the music we focus on the meaning and emotion or character of the song. And finally we work on stage presence and performing the song. I believe in singing healthy with your natural voice whether it be classical, musical theater or pop. I currently have openings on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in Walnut Creek. I teach ages 10 and up. My fees are $40.00 for 45 minutes and $50.00 for an hour lesson. If you are interested in lessons for yourself or your child or have any questions, please feel free to email me. Courtney Bowles

  • Guitar & Music Theory Instruction

I am a classically-trained musician, well schooled in music theory and technical knowledge of multiple instruments. Personally, I play the guitar, bass, upright bass, piano, drums, trumpet, tuba, and I dabble on a few others. I have played with numerous rock bands, school orchestras, school jazz bands, private jazz bands, and have written and recorded over 100 songs in the last 8 years. I have been playing music since I was 5 years old and I believe that instruction on any instrument should include a foundation of music theory and basic fundamentals to better help my students understand the instrument and music itself. I'm 23 years old and I live in the east Bay Area. I am willing to travel to you for lessons or to host. My hours are extremely flexible and my rates are negotiable depending on the depth of instruction, distance traveled, and length of the lessons. I look forward to helping you learn to play and understand the guitar or bass or general music theory, whatever your musical needs require.
