Lois is a wonderful tutor. As soon as she heard me talking she knew exactly what was it that I needed to train my English in order to take it to the next level. Highly recommendable to those who have an advanced level of English, because she is really precise and you get to learn a lot of history on the language. It is very enjoyable and it makes sense. If you need ESL, she's the one! She is also a writer, producer and acting coach, therefore she's also super creative and helpful when it comes to having to work out some text.

Gabriel has been a great asset as I've been getting back into shape. He's worked with me to get workouts that take my old injuries into account as well as easing me back into an active lifestyle, always making sure I take all the steps to help avoid injury. Gabriel has also been great in helping me clean-up my diet, and his food plans are easy to follow and have really helped me in my progress. It's been great learning new exercises and paying a lot more attention to how the movements and sequence of exercises work together. His studio is the very definition of being a private client, where you work out one-on-one with him which I find both comfortable and intense. You can go all out, with the music jacked up and no one can see you sweat! He's a great trainer and I have really enjoyed working out with him and will continue until I reach my goals.

Since 2016, I have made it a tradition to do or buy something for myself that is an investment to celebrate me. This year on my birthday, I decided that I wanted to work towards the career goals that I had always wanted as well as self-discovery along the way. While I read other testimonials and the approaches that other life coaches had, I came across Fawn’s page and was interested in speaking to her more about her coaching methods. After we spoke over the phone, I felt an immediate connection and at ease to move forward with our journey together. In the beginning, I discussed my fears and the roadblocks that I have been facing for years. Fawn listened, and provided NUMEROUS helpful resources that really changed the way I looked at things as well as coming up with an action plan that is best suitable for me. What surprised me the most is that I have learned immensely about myself along the way, my personal relationships with others, and to constructively think about how to tackle most obstacles that I’m faced with. The entire journey has been nothing but a positive and an empowering experience, and I have so much gratitude in my heart that I was able to receive Fawn’s guidance. I have learned how to communicate better, face my fears of confrontation, listen to my gut instincts and make decisions that best serves me. The tools she provided and the lessons I’ve learned along the way have proved the be invaluable, that I will carry with me and always remember. I would highly recommend Fawn to those who feels stuck in life, or struggles with finding fulfillment because she will help you explore a path that you wouldn’t consider before and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at your own personal self-growth.

I'm currently working with Eric to gain strength and flexibility (and improve my overall health). He has been great! I've been seeing him twice a week for about a month, and look forward to continuing training with him. A couple of things that I really appreciate about Eric and his training sessions: - He was courteous of my budget from the start and let me know what was realistic to do within my budget - He explains every exercise in detail (proper form, where you should feel muscles working, how a spotter would interact with the client). This is important for me, because being a girl and not growing up in a gym I had no clue where to even begin. So this is laying a good foundation for the long run even beyond our training sessions together. Also, it makes the client feel more comfortable when they know in advance where the spotter will be assisting at all times. - Eric is always on time. Even at 5:30 AM. He has a client before me at 4:30 AM and is there for that too. - He's been very kind and flexible when I have to travel for work and is willing to adjust the days that we meet so that I still get my two sessions a week in. - He is looking out for you in the long run. There are so many times that I feel discouraged because I can't quite complete a set or my form isn't right because I get tired. He is always quick to remind me that those things come in time as I build up strength. And it's true-- each time I can do a few more and do it better than before. He sets realistic goals and knows that things do not come over night and he wants you to realize that too. Overall, I'm really pleased with how things have been going. It's not a fast process for some of us, but since first beginning I have seen that I have improved in strength and that my body is shaping up. He's a great guy and knows what he is doing. I appreciate that he uses a style that incorporates basic weight lifting and body strength exercises, things that I could realistically do at home or a gym to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Thanks Eric!

Gil was an incredibly effective and motivating trainer. With his extensive educational background and understanding of balancing the weights, with diet, and cardio - I find training with Gil to already have significant effects not only on my body but also my overall health. I also appreciate the constant communication even when I'm not around and traveling, making sure to keep me on track and keep my diet in line with the overall goals of my training. he's a great guy and couldn't recommend him more to anyone out there that wants to get into great shape, better shape, or really just kickstart a healthier lifestyle.

Lucia is a great personal trainer. I work with her 1:1 and in group training workouts. She takes her time to understand your fitness level and tailors her workouts around that to give you immediate results. I started with minimal knowledge/experience and my form wasnt the greatest and with her help that has changed a lot. She is very knowledgeable, a great coach, motivator, and has helped me reach fitness goals.

I will admit at first I was a little nervous about walking into my first session with LaVelle. I was thinking it was a weight loss program designed for men. Looking at the wonderful reviews about LaVelle helped ease my nerves about the program. I knew I needed to do something different because exercising by itself was just not taking the weight off. After being on the program for approx. 20 weeks, I realize the changes I’m making today are long term gains. My transformation has helped me change my mindset on how I view food and what I put into my body. I’m more cautious of the types of food I eat and I’m actually enjoying eating healthier. I feel better both physically and mentally about myself. LaVelle is not just a weight loss manager or coach for men, but for anyone who wants to make a lifestyle change. It’s not easy, but change never is. You’ll be glad you did, because it will stay with you the rest of your life. Justine

Mario has had such a huge impact in my life not just in fitness but as a role model and as a guide to a better lifestyle. Over the past couple months I have seen an increase in my strength, endurance, fitness and happiness in general. When I hired Mario to guide me through my fitness, I knew I was signing up for a trainer, but I was and continue to be surprised to also have found a friend. He will push you to be better and congratulate you for even your smallest achievements. Marfil definitely exposed me to a whole side of the fitness world that I didn’t know exsisted and that I never believed I could be a part of and no amount of reviews or words can really express the gratitude and appreciation. If you’re looking for a trainer, Mario is the best way to go, wouldn’t trade the guidance for anything.

I came to Loocidity looking to improve my resume so I would get more traction with hiring managers. Instead of a quick glance and some brief recommendations for improvement, I got a coach who took the time to get to know me, my strengths and weaknesses, taught me how to cater a resume to a specific job, and guided me through every step of the interview process. The coaching methodology isn't quick, but it's thorough, straightforward, and priced to get the job done rather than to count the minutes on the clock.

Kelly is definitely a great coach. She worked with my schedule and online it gave me the flexibility to adjust to what worked for me. She had great ideas on how to get my body to respond and was encouraging when we were met with "roadblocks". She is very knowledgeable and she has such a passion for fitness. It's almost contagious! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for an in person or online coach. Can't wait to get back to it! Thanks Kelly!

I wasn't sure that I needed a life coach, but I thought I would give it a try. This was such a wise decision! Allyson and I hit it off right away. She's very open and honest and has a really positive way of looking at things - and her positivity is contagious. She got me through a really rough time and gave me advice that I know I'll be applying to challenges I face in the future. Thank you, Allyson!

Mira Joleigh is an amazing, insightful life coach! Our call this past week was so enlightening for me -- I felt that working through the pre-call homework assignment together was a great way to check in with myself, my goals, and what's next in the pipeline to focus on. She provided a myriad of resources to tap into - from networking to credit hacks - and was incredibly easy to talk to. I feel so empowered to take on the next 30 days with the actionable steps we laid out together, and I'm feeling refreshed and looking forward to the future! Thank you, Mira, for sharing space with me and guiding me through my goals! What a way to kick off my birthday week.

Tommy is an awesome basketball coach. He always made sure to make me practice and focus on my fundamentals and footwork. I play power forward and center so he taught me how to move my feet and perform power moves in the post. One of them was catching the ball behind and on the side of the basket then taking a power dribble and go up while rotating my body with my pivot food as the center of my gravity. The moves he taught me are efficient and effective so I learn how to play smarter while exerting less energy for each move. He also taught me how to shoot effectively as a big man. Focus in the range I'm effectively in using pivoting techniques that requires no more than two dribbles to get me to an open spot for a shot. Overall, he taught me a great deal and I highly recommend him as a coach!

I've worked with Sierra for almost three years and did not just recover my strength following a ACL reconstruction surgery but also achieved a much healthier lifestyle, incl. a significant drop in body fat percentage and almost 30lbs weight loss in conjunction with a 30day long dietary program. Going from a slender to a trim & more athletic body type Sierra took care of the training plans and tracked progress against in form of my body measurements. Sierra has become a friend over time and while I'm sad to see Sierra leave San Francisco, I'm wishing her best of luck in SoCal! -Sebastian

• I have been to several therapists in the past and am usually very skeptical of life coaching and therapy When I began phone sessions with Grace, she was able to help me discover what was really at the bottom of my concerns and how I viewed the world. She gave me guidance to start me on a journey of self introspection. Grace very quickly helped me feel that the road to self-development and happiness is a rewarding one in which I have a trustworthy ally. She helped me understand my needs for stability, become successful in my home and personal life and I have become a stronger person because of her. I highly recommend Grace.

Denice was terrific to work with for a couple of months while I was just getting started with the Keto diet and some other lifestyle changes. She set me up on MyFitnessPal, and advised keeping a food diary. She met with me in person at convenient locations, and was very responsive to my questions and concerns. Dee offered very positive support for nutrition, supplements, exercise, and diet. I am very pleased with my progress and working with Dee made me feel more confident making decisions.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
