Very happy with the copy editing of my book. Mike helped me better understand what my common pitfalls are and greatly improved the readability factor of the document. He was very communicative throughout the process and is well-versed in Scrivener. Looking forward to putting this out in the world!

Laurel was very professional and supportive throughout my editing process. She edited my graduate school research paper. She gave me some great ideas and worked hard for me to meet my deadline. Laurel's English background gave her the capability to make my project flow succinctly and academically, which is what I was looking for. Very thankful

My company hired Koppelman & Associates for a corporate event video. We were looking for professionalism and reliability, and Koppelman & Associates did not dissapoint. Our event took more time than anticipated, and the final video required detailed editing. Koppelman & Associates’s service throughout the process was thorough, and resulted in a great video at a very reasonable price. We will definitely use his service again.

Jeff did a great job editing my manuscript, offering good insight into line editing as well as suggestions for trimming tangential chapters and sections. These were suggestions I could not see myself, as an author too close to a memoir. Very helpful!

I had been procrastinating for quite some time about hiring a web designer, but was so glad to be matched up with J-357 through thumbtack! From our first conversation, I knew that her great personality was going to be the perfect fit. She was extremely easy to work with, and provided exceptional communication. Being that we live on opposite coasts, I truly appreciated her quick communication and adaptability. She really went above and beyond to work with me across time zones, and was extremely flexible with my schedule. But it didn't stop there...the website that she designed for me is absolutely amazing; it is truly everything I envisioned and more! J-357 provided a training session once the website was complete. She is great to work with if you are not tech savvy, and explains the details in clear and simplified terms. She is extremely patient, takes into consideration your suggestions, and is extremely quick with the edits. Compared to other web designers that I researched, her pricing is extremely reasonable. J-357 provided an awesome service all around. I would recommend this web designer to anyone who is looking for a high quality, professional or personal website. Thanks J-357!

From the first session she helped me get organized and see my plan. I needed her before "Editing". She was helpful in asking great questions, making me think bigger than my plan which is why she will continue with our team! Her honesty and ability to give that to me was the first I had and it was what got me "unstuck". Breaking free with Marian was the missing link. Now it is onto Editing with Marian. Thankfully she had these other talents about how to get who we are to the audience we want to reach. Marian teaches and trains you if you don't know something. When I asked random questions about anything, it seemed like she knew how to get the answer or knew the process herself. Wow! I am richer because I found her on Thumbtack. Now it is onto Editing. She prepared me, I am ready. Thank you Marian. I will be hiring you again. You helped me trust me.

I first worked with Tara 25 years ago, and then hired her into Andersen Consulting when I was promoted into a leadership role at our World Headquarters. I have always known her to be professional, delivering high quality content (e.g., writing, editing, copywriting). She's an effective communicator who can handle PR, content strategy, social media, etc. At my current company where I am SVP of Operations and Customer Success, we leverage a network of freelancers to help deliver content for customer websites, customer SEO blogs, and social media posts. Tara is one of our valued freelancers. I would highly recommend her.

Anish is hands down the best tutor in this area! I needed someone to tutor me for the GRE and he was exceptional. His teaching style and experience is exactly what you need to score high on the exam. Additionally, he offered to edit my personal statements for graduate schools. His feedback was amazing and he responds in a timely manner. Due to his help, I was able to write the perfect statement and score in the 90th percentile. I am going to attend my dream graduate program in the fall and I have a lot to thank him for. I am forever grateful for this tutor and his dedication to help people!

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

        • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
        • Strong writing skills.
        • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
        • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
        • Expertise in your target area.
        • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

        • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
        • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
