Amin was great. Although we did not get the fence yet but he did our laundry room fixing and went an extra mile to accommodate our needs. He is friendly and polite. He also fixed our drawer as if we were his family. I am glad that I have found a handyman for my family. Will definitely hire him again. :)

We needed part of our fence replaced that was blown down during the last rain storm. The workers were very polite, hard working, and very professional. The bad weather didn't keep them from working. I highly recommend this company and will use them again.

I highly recommend Manny's Tree Care! He's done not only trimming my palm and fruitless mulberry, but he has removed an old stump, a diseased fruit tree, and THEN he built the most beautiful redwood fence around my backyard you've ever seen. He's dependable, honest and fair. It's hard to find someone with the skills and ethics you'll get from Manny.

I hired Dave to fix our fence. Then a day after, he painted our front door. He's an amazing guy ( a little crazy sometimes but in a nice way.. ?).. Very trustworthy. He will definitely give you a fair price for the job. And would always go the extra mile to help you out. We already discussed my next project and will start soon.

I needed a fence with two gates between my pool and patio to keep my pets away from the pool. The fence was planned to curve along a ribbon of brick in the patio and along the curves of my planter to the wall. Tim was very attentive to my needs and I know it was a complicated project. Tim showed pride in his work and was am absolute pleasure to work with. I changed my mind from wanting a white fence to silver and, the finished project blends quite well with the patio and garden, as if it had always been there. I am VERY satisfied with his work!

My fence was falling down and posts were very loose in the ground. Mark built a 64 foot long by 6' high wooden fence for me. He showed me a sample of his fence construction, explained it to me, and then he prepared a detailed proposal, and scope of the work. His costs were a bit higher than a standard fence, but his design was much more detailed and provided me with a beautiful and structurally sound fence. He personally came to my house, and built the fence, and used a concrete base for the fence to rest on and secure metal post brackets, ensuring the fence was above the ground, secure, and minimized the fence from soaking up water on the ground, as well as left a nice border for my plants from the neighbor's yard. Additionally he notched the fence posts so the 3 (three) horizontal support brackets were flat inside the posts and secured for added strength. Something that I also noticed was he was very detailed oriented and kept his worksite safe and organized and each day when he left, my property was clean and I could see the progress of the fence and not wonder what he was doing. I am so happy I chose him to build my fence, Mark is very easy to work with, and my fence is beautiful, very strong, and I feel very confident that it will last a long time and not end up like the fence I replaced. Thank you Mark

Jose was on time and ready to work. He went beyond the call of duty for my family and I. He fixed fence posts, put a new peephole in the front door, fixed a broken door jam, amended the screen doors and did the work quickly. He was very nice and professional and smiled while he worked. You can tell he likes what he does. I highly recommend him and will use him for future jobs at my new home.

Scott did an awesome job for us. He installed a new wood fence as well as enclosing our carport on 3 sides with horizontal slats. He was super easy going, so easy to work with and offered ideas and input along the way. He was extremely reasonable and really cared about the work he was doing. I plan to use him more in the future and 2 of my neighbors are talking with him about their projects. I have total trust in him and would definitely recommend him anytime.

Martin and his team were referred to us. We closed on Friday, we fumigated over the weekend, and they had our 1200sq ft house apart Monday morning. Here is what they did in only five weeks: Exterior: -Repaired the fascia -Replaced my window trim on all windows, and two of my windows entirely. -Painted the exterior -Poured a patio -Replaced a large side gate -Built and painted a picket fence -Installed a mailbox -Helped me assemble my patio furniture in their down time -Hauled away two truckloads of garbage from the yard and garage that the prior tenants left -Trimmed the trees to keep the off the roof -Patched the roof -took care of the loose wireing in the garage Interior: -Scraped all ceilings -Ripped out all flooring -Ripped out the tub and shower -Ripped out the vanities -Ripped out the toilets -Ripped out all base boards -Retextured the walls and ceiling -Build two doorways -Built a small wall to fix the hall -Reinstalled the bathrooms with new fixtures -Replaced all the ceiling fans -Replaced two doors to the exterior -stripped my sliding glass door of that terrible fogging-effect plastic - hung fresh bedroom closet doors -new carpet in two rooms -new laminate in the living room, office, hall -new vinyl in the kitchen and bathrooms -new baseboards -new kitchen cabnet with counter to match the others -re hung kitchen cabinets to match the other side (they were low) -full paint -smoke detectors -fire extinguishers -re-wired my unsafe attic -new switches and plates Basically, They made it turn-key, from a total dump. And they stayed within my budget. But what will always stay with me is the sense of deep care and respect I felt every step of the way. Our first experience. Never were we blown off of treated like novices. Every time I share pricing with friends who have had work done on their homes, their eyes bug out at how wonderful our pricing was! They always went above and beyond. Like, meeting other people (the surveyer, the city for utilities, the garage door guy, the Apliance delivery guy) so that I didn't have to take work off. Like lending a hand with our last few boxes when we were moving in. Like staying around until my husband made it home on they day he got lost so that I wouldn't be alone in a new neighborhood after dark. Like working weekends to get it done. Like touching base every day with updates. Like helping me spray my yard with flea killer. Like always having a good laugh ready to share. Like answering my stupid "what-the-heck-is-this" calls weeks later when something native to the neighborhood would turn up (mostly bugs). I am so grateful. Also, It's been months and nothing has gone wrong. Our life carries on (knock on wood), and we don't think about trivial house stuff because it's all done.

Jerry painted a 50" wood fence and 6" gate for us. He provided turnkey service, including a day of priming, color-matching and procuring the paint, and doing two days of painting. He was punctual and courteous throughout and the fence looks great. I'll definitely hire Jerry again if needs come up.

They did a wonderful job. Our house hadn't been painted in quite some time, so they took extra time scraping off the old paint and repairing the cracks in the stucco. Their attention to detail was very impressive. I highly recommend this company

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.
