Shelly herself is an excellent writer, both technical and creative. She knows the rules of conventional English (says the survivor of eight years of Catholic school grammar, syntax, and sentence diagraming!) Even more important to me, as a veteran sixth grade teacher who has watched her as a parent-volunteer writing teacher, school librarian, play director, and copy editor, she can engage large or small groups of kids and inspire even the most reluctant writer to pick up a pencil and start writing! She has a wonderful sense of humor, which shows up in her own writing, and often in her students'. Additionally, she is professional, reliable, and intelligent enough to critically evaluate/edit college-level, business, and professional writing.

Wow, is all I can say! From the first communication to the last dotted "i" Linda's knowledge of drafting a resume and cover letter, that showcases my talents, has blown me away. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am looking for work after nearly 12 years at the same company. My resume hasn't been touched during that time, and Linda took my past history and compiled it into a succinct and "modern" presentation of skills. With this new resume, I am looking forward with eager expectations at the job market rather than with the fear or frustration of trying to create something on my own after so many years. Looking for work is difficult enough without the added stress of trying to find the proper buzz words used in the marketplace today. I would recommend Linda Hamilton's expertise to anyone in need of a creative writer.

I know Breyer Editorial Services as Bo Breyer. I was introduced to her by another writer in my group whom Bo had worked with. I have to say that Bo has a real talent for editing and a very perceptive, deft touch. She doesn't take over or try to reshape the work. She tries very hard to understand the point, mood, character, etc., that you're trying to create or get across, and very skillfully shows you the parts that work and the ones that diverge or are redundant or superfluous. When you step back and look at what she's marked up, it invariably feels like it's exactly what you would have seen, and would have wanted to trim, two months or so downstream. The editing process felt very collaborative process. I'm working on a sequel, and I will certainly ask her to edit it as well when the time comes. Will Fournier,

Simon is an absolute expert at website design and SEO. He is down to earth, so easy to talk to and work with. He listens to his customer's every need and does his best to address anything the customer asks for. It is clear that he does more than just build a minimum website--he examines the company's marketing needs and customer profile, and makes recommendations based on the latest SEO algorithms and best practices in online marketing. He basically is giving away free marketing consultation as a part of his design process. He works well with the graphic designers, photographers, and copy writers that are also on the project. He is responsive and communicates clearly. He is able to explain the technical side of things with clarity and patience. He explained a ton of things to me very clearly and I have learned a lot about websites and how they should work for a small business. He is hard working and always delivers more than he promises. I also know some of the other business owners that have hired him and everyone has nothing but praise to say about him and his work.

My leadership experience comes from leading one of the largest call center operations in the world. My keynote speeches are based in actual story telling of my experiences and learning's to make it interesting and real.

I have been in the business for more than 11 years. I was the city editor at a daily paper for six years and a beat reporter many years. I have written every type of story imaginable.

Writer/Artist -creative catch phrases or banners, proper letter editing, speech writer, illustrator. For a personal or professional touch on any project requiring creative writing for any type of advertising or document to create an impact or leave a lasting impression.

I am a freelance writer. I do all of my work on my own time. I charge very little and do not make contracts with my clients unless under a special case.

Hi there. I have years (decades) of experience in writing, editing, transcription and full-office administration. My writing and editing assignments have correlated to a wide breadth of subjects, needs, fields and events. Many have required an inordinate attention to details, compulsory demands and/or essential elements. I offer the following: - website design, creation and content - relevant and current resumes/cover letters - manuals - office correspondence and policies - business reports and reviews - real estate previews/ads - dissertations - articles - invitations, cards, and notices - legal documentation such as interrogatories, deposition summaries, etc. - I've transcribed innumerable trial and deposition transcripts as a licensed Ca court reporter In addition to composing written materials, I especially love editing. I'm flexible, exceptionally conscience, hard working and easily trainable. Thank you for considering the use of my skills.

I am mostly a writer, but I am also a double or triple bottom line business creator. I develop new and exciting ideas for highly innovative, socially responsible projects. Check out what I'm doing with Green Gold, which is the first ever book on pairing honeys and cheeses, but be prepared; this is not just a cookbook... it is about food and community empowerment, in its own way like my Nickel-a-Meal website campaign against obesity. Food is the next great equalizer of community involvement, and I bring that message home.

We offer a full service business, legal and academic writing service. So what does that mean to you? Well, if you would like to create an LLC, partnership, corporation or non-profit in any state, you would contact us. All writers offer approved credentials, minimum Masters level and above, and all pieces are edited by the owner of the company.

Writing, editing, critical thinking and content analysis. I also have excellent web content/web writing skills, as well as web-management, CMS and design skills.

I am available for short-term or long-term public relations/marketing communications consulting. I have written about a broad range of subjects for both professional and general readers for 40 years, in such diverse forms as ghost-writing a nationally-syndicated medical advice column, to tech manuals for aircraft, to numerous marketing papers for a wide range of companies from Intel to Brio Toys. In addition, I am the author of two published books and a one-man play. I'm a quick study and self-starter and I get up to speed very quickly to meet clients' needs with utmost professionalism and effectiveness.

The most important part of what I do is maintaining my client's voice and perspective. The deliverable is theirs and it should reflect that. I take great pride in the perfecting the details in a project so that there is no question that the end product is the very best version possible.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

    • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
    • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
    • Expertise in your target area.
    • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

    • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
    • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
