If your looking for a tutor who not only gets results, but is also someone who generally cares for their students, than let me introduce you to Carl. My son is currently having difficulties in geometry. I had used thumbtack in the past for other projects and tried to see if I could find a math tutor on their site. Sure enough, we found Carl. In the short time that Carl has been working with my son, I have seen a marked improvement not only in my sons grades, but also in my sons work ethic. Carl has brought an enthusiasm and fresh approach to teaching my son math. Carl is flexible with regards to scheduling and if necessary, always spends more time with my son than just the allotted hour. He truly doesn’t want to leave until he’s sure my son understand whatever concept they happen to be going over. He really does go the extra mile for his students. I sincerely can’t recommend Carl’s services more. If there is a subject that you or someone you know needs help with, Carl is someone who will take the time and get you where you want to be.

We started using Mike's services when we switched elementary schools last September. Our son was just beginning Common Core and we wanted to make sure he could keep up with the rest of the class as he is one of the youngest kids. Mike's lessons on basic math skills--such as place value, equations, counting money and telling time--have been an invaluable part of our son's academic success. Mike also makes math fun and interesting for our son--so much so that he looks forward to Mike's visits. He is friendly and knowledgeable and easy to schedule. We want to note that we had tried another tutor last summer. In the 12 weeks we used her (multiple times each week), our son did not progress much at all. That was the main reason we looked around for another tutor. (That and the fact that our son was starting to hate math.) Instead of multiple weekly sessions, it's one weekly in-depth session. Mike's background, skills and experience as a tutor are clearly evident. We highly recommend him.

I have worked with Lois for the past three month, and she is just AMAZING. I have learned so much from her about public speaking, interview techniques and accent reduction. I am now much more confident about my English and presentation stills. She did an absolutely fantastic job on editing my resume and personal statements. Unlike online editing services (which just correct grammar and punctuation mistakes and typos), she spent time to know my vision and what I really wanted to express. The end results were impressive pieces that were personal and really made me stand out. Lois is intelligent, delightful and inspirational, and I truly enjoy her teaching. I especially love her homemade iced tea in this hot summer. I strongly recommend Lois for her lessons and will definitely continue working with her!

I cannot say enough about Thinque Prep and Joyee Lin. He is dedicated to his students success and does a very thorough job of preparing them for the ACT or SAT test. My son, Zack, who is very bright but requires a lot of patience worked with Joyee over the summer and brought his composite ACT score up from 30 to 33. His math score increased a full 4 pts. and he scored a 35 in English. Thinque Prep has other services related to tutoring and college application preparation. Zack will be working with Joyee on his college application essays. Joyee is in California and we are in Texas but this was never an issue as the sessions are done via video chat. The office manager Jen was great to work with and the appointment process was easy to navigate. I found the rates to be very competitive for like services. If there was a way to give extra stars I would!!

Our tutor, Danielle, has been great for working with my daughter. We needed someone who could tutor in math, but also assist in developing organizational skills.

Best tutor under the sun. Teaches student how to think about math so the student can use every lesson for future math efficiency. My son's grade went up 2 levels.

Great math tutor, so good that my child's grades went up quickly! She no longer thinks she's 'bad at math,' which is the idea she had gotten from every math teacher she'd had. Chris dispelled that and now she feels much better. Writing review so Chris gets more work :)

I worked for Mary Beth as a math and study skills tutor. She's extremely dedicated, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable, and regularly goes out of her way to help students and their families. I strongly recommend Club Z! Santa Clarita for in-home tutoring services -- your child will be in experienced, extraordinary, and extremely capable hands.

We chose Sara to tutor our daughter after meeting her and discussing her educational background and method of engaging with our daughter. On these points I found Sara well suited to tutor our daughter in Math studies as well as Engineering. After choosing an agreeable meeting schedule, Sara was always on time and prepared to work with each lesson plan, often working out the plan for the day via text so that both, Sara and our daughter could get the most out of the session time together. Sara was flexible with the schedule and able to change some of the meetings to coincide with a test. We have seen improvement with test scores which I am sure are a direct result of Sara ability and professionalism. We will continue to have Sara tutor our daughter in the coming school year and highly recommend her service to anyone looking for their child's educational challenges to improve.

Edward, was very helpful and patient. He's very flexible with hours and a good teacher. I was failing all of my math tests and after just four sessions with him my next test was an A+. I highly recommend Edward to anyone wether you are good or not good at math. It was a pleasure having him as a tutor.

Andrew was a fantastic resource for me during my applications to graduate school. I did private tutoring with him for the GRE as well as sought tutoring from him for my personal statements for graduate school. He is intelligent, attentive, thorough in all of his work, and truly cares about the success of his students. He also makes learning fun and although studying for the GRE can be a mundane task, somehow made it more interesting for me. He followed up with me when I still needed more resources and follows up post-GRE to see how I am doing in my career. I highly recommend and endorse Andrew!

Alex is wonderful. Having to re-learn math for the GRE was not something I was looking forward to but he has made it doable and enjoyable. Alex is consistently patient and encouraging, which is especially nice when you haven't done math in a while, and it is clear that he is devoted to making sure his students understand the material!

We hired Ed to provide Algebra II tutoring for our son Tim at the beginning of the 2015 school year. I can say that after a year working with Ed, Tim’s Algebra skills have improved significantly, and he has found a great friend and mentor in Ed. We will definitely be hiring Ed again this year to tutor our other sons! Overall, Ed is calm, good natured, knows how to handle teenagers, and is very knowledgeable in the field of mathematics. The best part is that Ed is a UCLA grad – LOVE that! I highly recommend him.

My 10th grade daughter had a wonderful Tutisto tutor, Paulina, for Math Analysis (pre-calculus). My daughter attends a highly-rated charter high school but we opted for her to take online Math Analysis via Laurel Springs under Paulina’s guidance. My daughter looked forward to her weekly 1.5 hour sessions with Paulina. If she had questions during the week, my daughter would text Paulina who responded immediately. Paulina kept me informed of my daughter’s progress throughout the year. Paulina is exceptionally organized, responsive, smart, patient and communicative. We are very grateful to have found her through a friend and will continue to have her tutor Calculus next year to augment the high school teacher’s lessons. My only regret is that we didn’t find Paulina earlier, as we would have hired her to help my daughter learn geometry in 8th grade!

I had the good fortune of finding James Nassir when I had 4 college math classes to take, including Statistics. Math is not my strong area, but with James excellent tutoring I made "A"s in all 4 classes! He is patient and explains everything clearly and directly and is flexible with tutoring times and locations! So glad to have had his help!

One on one learning had been more effective for me than anything else I would try. I was able to ask any questions at any time. It felt great to study in the comfort of my own home with a great tutor, instead of having to leave my house for a class. I have learned so many tricks and information from truePrep. My tutor’s lessons gave me a ton of information on the many problems faced on the SAT. This definitely increased my success on the SAT. I went from a 1300 on a practice SAT to an 1800! The lessons that my tutor and I went over were very helpful for me. They first included sample questions, and tricks into solving a certain problem step-by-step. Then, they included example questions for me to solve. If I got any example ones wrong, my tutor and I would go over them. He always made sure I understood why I got the answer wrong. The step-by-step tricks I learned were the most helpful for me

About

I graduated from Swarthmore College, with a BA in math and music; I'm currently at the University of Pennsylvania. As a teaching assistant and tutor in college, I worked with a great variety of students and learning styles. I enjoy helping my students with their needs, as well as learning about their unique, often very fascinating, approaches to problems! I believe the best way to teach is to understand the students' minds and to guide them through each challenge in methods that they're most comfortable with. I have a passion for math, science, and learning in general. I look forward to sharing this passion with you! I'm also a performing pianist. I have had the fortune to work with the most inspiring teachers I could ever hope for; they shaped me into the musician and the person I am today. I'm not a professional music teacher, but I would love to share my passion for music with my students! I'm only looking to teach a small number of students, so that I can give them as much of my energy and attention as I can.
