Athena B. says, "I contacted Chef Kel on Thumbtack about a birthday dinner for four, for my husband. Kel was very responsive, and made things easy for me. I have never worked with a professional Chef, and the planning was stress-free, with Kel making expert suggestions. We communicated by text and by phone call, and a week or so before the dinner, he texted me a fancy menu card. It is the little things like this that made me feel that this was going to be an awesome event, and my husband and I were very excited. Chef Kel and Chef Tannar came over last night with food to prepare and beautiful dishes for the meal. They were very polite, warm and professional, and you could tell that they were experts in their field. Our two guests arrived and we had an amazing appetizer, with wine, a pasta dish that was out of this world, a main course, and beautiful dessert. Everything was handmade and salmon and steak was cooked to our preferences. Each dish was beautifully presented and so good! The service was exceptional and it was hard to believe that this meal was made in our tiny condo kitchen. Chef Kel and Tannar left the kitchen clean, and we have some leftovers from this wonderful event. I highly recommend Kel and Tannar for providing an elevated, yet down to earth dining experience!"See more

Vaill D'Angelo says, "I hired Chef Christoff to host a private dinner for my cousins bachelorette party and it was truly the highlight of our weekend! We had 9 girls and he cooked right in our Airbnbeverything from start to finish was seamless. His communication and attention to detail were excellent, and he went above and beyond to make the night special.Everything on the menu was incredible: crab cakes, a fresh citrus salad, perfectly cooked ribeye, and duck fat potatoes (hands down the best potatoes Ive ever had!). He finished the meal with an insanely delicious Kentucky bourbon butter cake that were still talking about. On top of the amazing food, they were so friendly, professional, and fun to have around Chef Christoff made the whole experience personal and memorable. I cant recommend Chef Christoff enough!"See more

Rahul G. says, "**Review for Oy's Catering** I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Oy's Catering, and it was nothing short of amazing! The food was bursting with flavor and crafted with such care and authenticity. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection—easily one of the best I've had. The sweet potato salad was a delightful surprise, with its unique blend of sweetness and texture, making it a standout dish on its own. The Thai cuisine options were equally impressive, offering a perfect balance of bold spices and comforting flavors. Each dish felt like a journey to Thailand, showcasing Oy's expertise and passion for the culinary arts. What truly elevated the experience was the variety on offer—there was so much more to enjoy beyond these highlights. Oy's Catering delivers not only delicious food but also a warm, welcoming vibe that makes every bite feel special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for outstanding catering with diverse and flavorful options. I can’t wait to try more!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
