Chris and his brother Taylor trimmed a 15-foot tree in my condo patio to perfection....they cut it down 5 feet and neatly rounded all the edges. they also cut down a pesky bush, cleaned out all the leaves in a garden area and left the work area spotless, hauling away everything. Before doing the work, Chris stopped by to estimate the time and amount for the job. It was very acceptable and I would hire his service again. Good service at a great price.

I am so impressed with the work that was done by this company. My yard looks fantastic and they should up in time and took their time and didn't just rush through it. I've been through 3 other companies that just can't compare to Stay Green. I'm also so very thankful, they fixed the sprinkler valve my dog broke! Thank you Stay Green. I'm glad I finally found a great company to keep up my lawncare

The two brothers were awesome!! Very friendly, but got to business at hand and completed in remarkable time. Took down two trees, removed both completely, cut me some fire wood, trimmed areas in back yard, removed 8 rose bushes and cleared out entire over grown garden area! We split work between two days since we weren’t home on one and have three dogs. Total about 8 hours to complete it all! Would highly recommend to anyone!!!

Their work is pretty good, and price is reasonable. We have switched from another gardener. In the process, I interviewed six gardeners and selected Down Under. We have been using them for about 6 months. So far, it has been a pretty good experience.

“This Russell Bowman is a genius in what he knows and does” It’s funny that I too have Doctoral Blood running thru generations in my family, and I see in Russell a “Dr.” I call Him that for a reason. His Grandfather was the best ear and throat specialist in Beverley Hills with his own practice and clinic. That impressed me when I heard that. I obviously see that passion for caring, that a good Doctor would do, as he brought back to life our fruit trees and palms. What won us over was his passion. He takes time freely with teaching my wife and me, how he fell in love with plants and trees back in the 80's. Well it's obvious He's Good does to make our Garden Wonderfully. Because you can See His God-given gifts and talents to save so many rare and hard plants to grow here, “Russell Has made our property a Great enjoyment now, for every day I get home from work I enjoy it and relax. Russell's team of specialists are all very, very talented special contractors. Look how beautiful our lagoon pool turned out! And we so thank full to have been met Russell, and his 34 years of knowledge with visions and contractors that work directly with us, whom I am a large developer who is retired, and these guys are the best I've ever seen or used on my multiple properties.

Jake quickly responded to my request to hang a concrete wall fountain on an outside wall in front of my kitchen sink. He laid electrical in plastic piping inside a trench and helped to connect the fountain electrically. He purchased a BT timer at Home Depot. It’s simply gorgeous. I liked that he texted me when he left his office, when he expected to arrive, when he took off for a bite of lunch. Very considerate and professional (guess that’s what you get from a Minnesota native). He helped me with two other projects, one centered around his passion for building sustainable gardens for people. He will bring the custom trellises that he built tomorrow. They are designed to have cantaloupes grow up and hang.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
