Introduction: I am a twenty year successful national touring/recording artist who has been a working musician since high school. I have countless referrals and bonds with students in my area. I am a Yamaha Drums regional endorsee who has worked with Steve Gadd and Billy Cobham.
Students are instructed in a state of the art professionally designed recording studio with 2 top of the line kits. I play bass/guitar and will put students in live band situations as well as record to hear their progress and focus on their needs.
You will find cheaper rates, however, you get what you pay for. Comprehensive and focused lessons target each student's individual needs. Getting instruction from someone who has experience as well as being successful in the music industry in a fun environment will show on your very first lesson.
It has been the love of my life since 1979 and I pride myself on being at the top of my profession.

A gifted and professional musician, Matthias is not just a great drummer but is an outstanding teacher (the two are not always synonymous). He teaches directly to where the student is at in his/her learning curve, and inspires you to want to practice & play. Working through rudiments, he does not bog the student down in mindless repetition, but uses these tools to show you how to convert them into music on the drums. His teaching is relaxed , focused, as well as free form (helping the student work through songs and grooves). He inspires achievement and greatness in his students (no matter whether you are a beginner or advanced). Definitely the best teacher I have ever had recommended for all ages, all levels!

Matthias is a great drummer and a really great teacher! Matthias teaches with the enthusiasm that focuses the students interest yet the patience to get even the youngest student started. Matthias makes it fun, but doesn't skip the fundamentals. In my family, Matthias taught both a 5 year old beginner, and an adult who already reads music. Ten years later, my 15 year old is a very good drummer, still benefiting from the musical foundation that Matthias created! Matthias gets my highest recommendation as a teacher...and he's a nice guy to top it off!

Matthias has been giving my son drum lessons for almost 5 years. He is an outstanding teacher and knows just the way to relate to young people and keep them interested. He is also a terrific drummer.

This guy knows his stuff. I've worked with Matthias for over a year now and I have made "leaps and bounds" on drums. I started as a beginner and now I am playing drums in my own band! Matthias keeps things fresh and customizes the lessons to match my skill level as it changes. The lessons are never boring. Not only does he teach the rudiments, but he will chart out a specific song if I bring it in to him. He even has me playing some Rush tunes! Highly recommended.

Matthias is the one of the best drummers and drum teachers in the Bay Area. I would highly recommend him as I have watched my son progress quickly this past year under his professional, supportive & encouraging tutelage.
