My son Andy studies bass guitar with Vic and he looks forward to every lesson! He has already learned so much - how to read, how to play along with songs. Vic is hosting their yearly student concert in October and Andy is looking forward to performing at that event.

I’m a thirty-something single mom and I needed an outlet. My guitar was gathering dust and I decided to take some lessons for the first time. Vick is great. The playing started as a hobby but it has become more. Vick is teaching me songwriting and I feel like I have a voice now!

I take bass lessons from Vic Grady. I am learning a lot and learning to play a lot of rock songs. I am starting to feel like I can really do this. It's very exciting.

This may sound Grandiose, But Vic Grady changed my Son's life forever, in a good way. Vic took my son from no experience with the guitar to what as a Biased Parent's review would be a virtuoso on both the Guitar and then the Bass Guitar. He taught my son the basics and progressed to "Jamming" techniques as well as how to play the Bass Lines from the written music for Both Rock and Jazz.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I always ask each student, at the very beginning of our time together, what his or her goals are. Each individual has their own unique and personal reasons as to why they are studying music, their own concerns and expectations, and their own perceived strengths and limitations. My job is to help each person that I teach - 1) sort through these sometimes confusing issues, 2) identify for themselves the things that are most important, 3) formulate a success plan, and then, 4) help them realize their ambitions. Everything I do with each student during our sessions is directed toward that purpose.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been performing professionally since I was 13. During my school years I played with many different bands throughout Southern California as well as writing my own songs and conducting and composing for high school choir. During the 70s, 80s, and 90s I recorded and toured with a wide variety of acts, taking time out on several occasions to study music theory in college as well as guitar, bass, piano, voice, and composition with a small handful of private coaches in the Los Angeles area. I have been teaching music for over 40 years and have been teaching full-time here in the Antelope Valley since 2002.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

As a prospective student you are approaching the study of music with a certain set of desires, goals, and expectations. Some of those objectives will be long-term and some will be more-or-less short-term. A good instructor, or coach, can help you determine where each goal might fit within your personal timeline and assist you in formulating a success plan, helping you to feel confident and excited about your musical ambitions!
