I took piano lessons with Marissa - she was very flexible in terms of her schedule, and created a lesson plan around my learning goals. I've never played piano or sung before, but felt very comfortable to jump right in.
Have been taking clarinet and alto sax lessons with Andrew for years. Great teacher who is a master of his craft and is very dedicated to the progression of his students. Takes the time necessary to really help you learn and perfect all areas. He is very skilled in both jazz and classical and can really help his student develop in whichever way they desire. Would highly recommend to anyone who is serious about learning their instrument.
Jeremy is a consumate musician, whose fluency and creative imagination on the saxophone place him among the most gifted exponents of the instrument. He plays all genres of music with utter ease, with perfect intonation, and exquisite nuancing, As a teacher, Jeremy is gentle, patient, professional, punctual and masterful in helping his students learn how to navigate the intricacies of sound production. In working with Jeremy, as he helps them hone their technical skills and develop the art of deep listening, his students are soon able to find their unique voices, play the music they love, and express themselves , with full confidence, on their instrument.
I have taken bass lessons from a handful of instructors over the years. Ariane is different. She has explained things to me that I have either never heard or never understood in new ways that help me to connect the dots. She makes the lessons fun and always challenges me and encourages me to stretch myself while giving me to the tools to do so. Do not hesitate to give hear a test drive.
I am visibly United States from India and was hoping to take few saxophone lessons while I'm here cause there is hardly anyone who teaches saxophone there. Georgianna was really helpful. She gave me useful exercises to develop my tone as well as helped me with all my queries. I'll definitely recommend her.
Joe is great! Super knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing his love of saxophone and jazz. It’s cool that he is also a working musician, not just a teacher, because he is also always learning new things to share with his students. Highly recommend!
Mario has been teaching sax to my 11-year old daughter for a little over a year now. I would highly recommend him without hesitation. From my daughter's perspective, she likes Mario because he picks fun pieces to play that also sound cool, picks lots of duets, has good methods for when I am having trouble with playing something such as repetitiveness, working backward, and playing a similar exercise, not only teaches me alternate fingerings for notes but also when to use them and why I need to know them, tells me a lot about the music theory of the sax between playing and is open to questions. From my perspective, his expert musicianship, his patient and thorough teaching, his flexibility and punctuality and his obvious love for music and sax are enough to make him an excellent choice for any student.
John has been tutoring the saxophone to my mid-schooler for the last year. During that time, I've found him to be very patient, personable, and respectful. Our son continues to enjoy music class in school (while some of his peers have stopped playing) and has shown progression is his ability to play pieces that require higher skill.
Mark Sowlakis has been an excellent saxophone and clarinet teacher for both of our sons. Our older son started taking saxophone lessons with Mark when he was in middle school and studied with him through high school. Our younger son began clarinet lessons with Mark about seven years ago. In middle school he decided to take up the saxophone so he could join the jazz band. Mark was able to teach him both instruments. Our sons always enjoyed their lessons with Mark and he really helped bring out their best musical talents. In addition, he has always been flexible with scheduling lessons. Most recently he has accommodated our requests for help with music scholarship applications and auditions.
I have been studying the sax for about five years. Sam was my first teacher and after working with two other teachers, I have decided he is the best teacher I've had and look forward to many more years of working with him. He is both patient and inspiring. He is technically accurate but yet not a slave to technique. He is also a kind soul and a pleasure to work with.
I strive to share my own passion for music with students to teach them to listen with open ears and minds and to instill in them a curiosity for music that will last a lifetime.
