I cannot say enough about Thinque Prep and Joyee Lin. He is dedicated to his students success and does a very thorough job of preparing them for the ACT or SAT test. My son, Zack, who is very bright but requires a lot of patience worked with Joyee over the summer and brought his composite ACT score up from 30 to 33. His math score increased a full 4 pts. and he scored a 35 in English. Thinque Prep has other services related to tutoring and college application preparation. Zack will be working with Joyee on his college application essays. Joyee is in California and we are in Texas but this was never an issue as the sessions are done via video chat. The office manager Jen was great to work with and the appointment process was easy to navigate. I found the rates to be very competitive for like services. If there was a way to give extra stars I would!!
When I came to the English lesson I barely understood English. Every day my speech was getting better and better. We understood each other. Wonderful Teacher:) Thank You Linda!
Nuria Fortier was my Spanish teacher for fall 2014 through the International Language School for Children and Adults. I am an adult, beginner level spanish language student with some previous beginner coursework. Our Saturday morning one-hour classes are held at Pitzer College and ran from September through December into January. I am very impressed with Nuria's language instruction. She meets the students where he/she is in their learning, yet also helps you to challenge yourself (for example speaking as much as possible in Spanish during lesson). She stresses the importance of grammar and verb conjugation structures within conversational Spanish lesson. She constructs lessons so that we come into contact with verbs and then we address the conjugation. She recommended two very good books for beginner level that we use during the lesson, and also introduces fun story reading (at children's level which is actually very good for beginner adult learner). Nuria is very professional and reliable, and encouraging for an adult language learner! Nothing negative to report. Nuria has also created a local Spanish speaking group of current and former students who meet to practice Spanish and I am looking forward to joining this group. Thank you Nuria! I recommend ILSCA and Nuria Fortier for Spanish language. Her Children's programs are also very well attended.
Sheehan worked as my English tutor in Sydney. She worked so hard and well prepared for every single tutorial. Thanks for her help , I eventually passed the test. Highly recommended.
Miss Marguerite is a great piano teacher. She approaches her music lessons through a variety of techniques and methods that always keeps our daughter engaged. She teaches her music theory, music appreciation, rhythm, play by ear and the ability to read music. She differentiates the needs of each of her students and taps into their styles and preferences. Our daughter has learned a lot under her tutelage.
He is a really outstanding teacher. His patience always let me feel very related in his classes. Because I am a International student, and my teachers never used English to teach students before, sometimes I can be very nervous and confused in what teachers say in America classes. But Earl really gives me confidences, which make me believe I can overcome the difficulties I met in my study. Moreover, he really impresses me when he teaches me SAT writing, due to the reason that he separates long sentences for me and tells me which different functions of which different parts of them; this method is very useful for International students such as me. However, few teachers use this method to teach students when they cannot understand the meanings of the long and difficult sentences. Honestly, he did really give me lots of help.
I recommend my teacher of English, because she is professional and patient. I like how she develops classes in a light and funny way. I never feel ashamed to speak!
Patricia has given English lessons to our 3 children, 2 hours a day, for 2 months in May and June 2015 in France. As French native speakers, the objective was to make them all feel at ease in English (spoken and written) in order to join an international English speaking school in September. Camille, 13 years old, had already some school knowledge of English, and Sarah, 11 years old, had very few knowledge of English. Despite of that, the 2 girls decided to take the lessons together and Patricia adapted very well to the level of each girl, making them feel as taking nearly private lessons, sharing perfectly her time between the 2 girls. She was able to use the strengths and weaknesses of each girl to build a team spirit to achieve each of them goal : good communication skills for interpersonal relations and a good written level to adapt to academic learnings. Cyrille, 7 years old, didn't have any knowledge of English and the objective was to get him used to listen and understand basic English. Again Patricia succeeded in this goal perfectly. Cyrille was very scared to start his first lesson and did not want to go, but after all he did not want the first lesson and all the others to stop ! Patricia was always extremely patient, enthusiastic, positive, constructive and fun all the time ! The children did theoretical exercices, as well as some practical ones, such as cooking or shopping, and of course lots of conversation. They all loved the lessons with her. Today, after one month of schooling in English, we can confirm that Patricias lessons were very helpful and allow our children to succeed in getting well-adapted to their new environment and working methods. Therefore, I highly recommend Patricia as a tutor as she is highly competent, efficient, and able to adapt to all type of levels and ages, from young boy to teenager.
Whenever I have a high stakes assignment, I take it to Oliver. He never disappoints. Whether its a History DBQ, an English literary analysis, or a letter of recommendation, Oliver makes it better. His analytical mind and command of the language are untouchable.
Everything was wonderful and the people were really friendly and worked with me and tailored the lesson to my needs
I used to be intermediate level of English but after tutoring, I feel that my English improved to an advanced level. I can more properly use grammar in speech and in sentences. I am happy to say that I am now going to college and I really recommend tutoring. My experience was really good.

This is a classic approach to learning which will never go out of style. Unlike educational fads of whole language versus phonics, No Child Left Behind or Race to the Top,State Standards or Common Core, a one-on-one mentoring provides life coaching skills that translate to increased confidence and productivity for the student.
I am a tri-lingual (Eng-Spa-Rus) educator. I have over 20 years of teaching languages experience. I have a master's degree in education, and I am a published author on Amazon and Kindle. Please check all my public profiles (Zoia Sproesser) in Google, LinkedIn, Amazon and Facebook. Check my website as well. I have excellent reviews from my students and administrators. I love teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to immigrants (I teach at Pomona Adult Ed, CA), Russian (I used to teach 8 years SAT class at Mt San Antonio College, Walnut, CA) and Spanish (Beginning) (I teach at La Fetra Center in Glendora, CA).
In todays ever-changing educational landscape, it is vital that a teacher possess a multitude of pedagogical skills as well as the ability to engage learners with a great diversity of cultural backgrounds. My experience and background can provide that. I have been teaching English and writing for eleven years and I have a MA in English/Composition. I have the ability to build an excellent rapport with people; thus, building the trust I need to help them succeed. I thrive when I teach one on one. I engage students with a fair, firm, and friendly attitude that demonstrates respect for students and their educational goals and always strive to make the learning applicable to students lives.
I am a recent college graduate with experience in tutoring in multiple subjects (especially elementary and middle school) as well as English tutoring. I graduated from the University of California San Diego with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication. I am very patient and detail-oriented and would love to help you with your reading, writing, and pronunciation needs.
I grew up part of my life in Los Angeles, California, and the other part in Merida Yucatan in Mexico. I have taught Spanish both to retirees living in Mexico from United States and Europe and in the United States. This is a side job I do about 8 to 10 hours per week. I am completely fluent in both English and Spanish. I am self-taught in Spanish, and although I am fluent now, when I was young, I had to figure the language out for myself. This gives me an edge that native Spanish speakers don't have. I have always gotten a lot of good feedback from everyone I have tutored in Spanish, and I hope to work with you in the near future!
We offer professional and fun classes with a teacher of 30 years. We provide recitals and stage shows twice a year. We have drum, piano, and voice students. We have art classes by a teacher and Disney artist.
We teach others the English language and help them read and write it as well as speak it. It is very important to know English.
