Mina removed the existing microwave and installed a new one. I thought his installation job was 5 stars but the only comment I have is that he had to charge me $20 extra and I feel that should have been communicated to me when he realized that he would need to charge me more, not after the project was completed. I would still use him again because he was respectful, diligent, and hardworking. He also cleaned up *most* of the mess that was created from the installation.

I submitted my request and within 30 minutes I was contacted. We set up an appt, gave me a quote. I thought he was very reasonable with his quote. So I accepted the repair service. We set up another appointment and he repaired my tv within an hour. He also did a preventative maintenance on my tv. He was extremely courteous, polite, most of all I believe he was honest with his prices. I will be recommending him to my friends and neighbors. Excellent work!!!

David was immediately responsive to my call for dishwasher repair. I decided to purchase a new machine after I scheduled an appointment so we did not have a chance to work together. However, I will definitely call Dne again when I need service. David was veryhelpful and most importantly, very fast to respond and find a convenient appointment time.

I had him come to remove a ceiling fan and install a new ceiling fan and wall switch. Because did such a nice job, I had him remove and install two bath faucets one of which needed more repair than I thought. He also repaired my tub faucet which I knew needed lots of work. If I need anymore repairs, I will definitely call him.

Called to get someone out to look at my relatively new refrigerator that had stopped making ice. OC Appliance Masters were professional and helpful on the phone and sent technician to the rescue. Nick was charming, efficient and very patient. He told me that he could replace the ice maker and quoted me a price. But before buying the new ice maker, he said he wanted to call the manufacturer to see if they had any recalls on the product. The manufacturer confirmed that there were no recalls, but told Nick that sometimes the line in the freezer door becomes frozen and if you defrost the unit, that can resolve the issue. Nick suggested that we follow those instructions before making such an expensive repair and to call him to report back to him. We did that and discovered that the ice maker was actually fine. The problem was that the freezer was not getting cold enough to make ice and that the problem exists elsewhere. When we called Nick back, he found all of that very interesting and said that he could come out to diagnose and repair the issue, but a better course of action was to call the place we purchased the unit and get an authorized repair guy for our brand of refrigerator. We appreciate the fact that Nick was so honest and diligent in calling the manufacturer. He was also consultative and trying to help us diagnose the issue even though he was not going to get a repair fee beyond what we had initially paid him. Even though Nick didn't technically repair anything for us, he gets BIG points for his honesty, something you are never quite sure about when hiring someone in this capacity. For the $35 service call, we gained valuable insight and an appliance repair person for life. Thank you, Nick!

I submitted a request for an appliance repair technician and, in less than two hours, Sergio arrived to diagnose and fix our Samsung refrigerator. After leaving to purchase parts, he returned that afternoon to repair the fridge and now it works perfectly. Problem solved! Sergio was efficient and professional and we are very happy.

We were impressed with Andrew's expertise, attitude and the quality of his work. He removed an oven/broiler unit from our mobile and designed a cabinet to slide into the space. The cabinet was installed so that it could be removed at a later time if a future owner wanted an oven installed. The cabinet is sturdy and looks great. The work area was clean throughout the job. He was able to fit our small job into his schedule. We highly recommend Andrews Handyman and Construction Services.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
