Ken S. says, "I contacted multiple Roofers and they always promised to come over and no showed- BUT Nick picked up his phone on my first call, let me know he would come to the property next day. He did show up, did the estimate, extremely fair price. Great communication throughout my entire experience. Took pictures. Him and his workers showed up to my property early. He communicated well between myself, my tenant and promised as delivered. I literally was trying to find companies that would do what they said they would do....and Nick at Pro Roofing, did just that. Yes, this was a real review. And yes I would highly recommend as your first call. And yes I will use him again if needed. Also I have tile roof so I know it is more tricky to work with and he handled it with ease..."See more

K Colt says, "We had an intense rain storm in December that showed us that we had multiple roof leaks that I had believed were stopped with tar several years back. The leaks caused some minor drywall damage. I went up on my roof and into my attic and could see that there was an issue with flashing around a skylight and also saw what appeared to be leaking where the roof top HVAC unit was mounted. The roof was a little unsightly due to years of applying tar to stop leaks.I checked reviews on Google and also looked at recommendations on a local social media site and found Verde Roofing and Exterior. I got a hold of Manny and scheduled an appointment for a quote. Manny came out on the same day. He inspected the roof and gave me his recommendation for a repair and the quote. I liked Mannys plan of action and his price was fair. The plan was to re-shingle around the skylight and the HVAC unit. I received quotes from two other companies, but I decided on Verde Roofing and Exterior because of Mannys plan. I was a little concerned when suddenly there was a forecast of rain, but Manny and his crew were able to start the job the very next day after we signed the contract, a day before the rain. Mannys crew seemed very experienced and had the job completed in one day. The job turned out great and there is a very good color match between the new and old shingles. Manny always maintained communication and he and his crew were always on time. I will reach out to Verde Roofing and Exterior again in the future."See more

Charlie Maerzke says, "Weatherline was one of several roofing companies we considered to replace our 38yo roof. We are extremely happy to have chosen Weatherline to replace the rolled roofing beneath our tiles. They handled all aspects of the process for us, including obtaining the city permit, which was included in the price. They replaced portions of termite eaten facia and even painted it to match the correct color. We paid a little extra for the wood & paint but they did the work. The entire crew was very hard working and respectful, they cleaned up every day especially any nails in the driveway and walkways. After all the tiles were back in place the entire roof got power-washed and all the vents and stacks got painted to color-match the tiles. We opted to use Owens Corning Titanium FR roofing because it has the highest fire rating. All the roof vents got replaced with new fire rated ones that got painted to match the tiles. We are very happy with everyone we encountered at Weatherline and are happy to recommend them to others!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

There are several reasons why it’s worth it to hire a professional roofer instead of attempting it yourself. The first is safety. Roofing is inherently dangerous, as a fall from a roof could seriously injure or kill you. Roofers have specialized equipment and training to help prevent accidents.

Next is experience. Roofers know how to spot problems (leaks, missing shingles, moss or mold growth, etc.)  in your roof that could potentially save you from costly repairs down the road.

And finally, roofers save you time by getting the job done quickly and with a high degree of quality.

Experts typically recommend that you have your roof professionally inspected at least once a year. But you also may want a licensed professional to inspect your roof during these circumstances:

  • You're buying or selling a home
  • You're filing an insurance claim
  • Before or after a contractor does major work on your roof

Search the Thumbtack site for experienced roof inspectors near you. You can contact them directly to set up a time to conduct the inspection, and learn more about their pricing structure and services.

Roof inspectors are trained to look for signs of a failing roofing system that could lead to damage — especially water and structural damage. Your home's roofing materials may look great from the ground, but it's difficult to see potential damage unless you take a closer look. A roof inspector can do just that.

During an inspection, the professional will typically look for issues that may have occurred during installation and manufacturing. They’ll also keep an eye out for damage caused by normal wear and tear, as well as extreme weather events. They might also access your attic to see if there are signs of a leak in your roof.

Here’s a short list of common things a contractor will look out for during a roof inspection:

  • Damage caused by hail, wind, snow and rain
  • Missing, broken, buckling, curling or cracked shingles
  • Roof decay, rot, moss, mildew and mold
  • Rust around the flashing
  • Damaged chimneys and vents
  • Holes, gaps and punctures that could cause a roof leak
  • Water stains and ventilation issues

Hiring a roofing inspector prevents you from having to do the dangerous work of climbing onto your roof. Plus, inspectors know how to assess potential damage and determine the best way to repair your roof and prevent the need for more expensive repairs in the future.
