What a fantastic experience. He went beyond the original install of our TV. I called him back when my closet shelf collapsed and he was there to repair immediately.

Roger put together a queen size Murphy bed from Costco for us at an extremely reasonable price. He was very professional, thorough, punctual, and talented! He is a perfectionist so made sure that everything was done correctly and looked great! He was more than willing to come back the very next day to help us with some other projects- building and hanging cabinets, assembling a toddler bed and hanging drapes and pictures. All A-plus work! I am looking forward to hiring him again to build a closet and mount TVs for us next!! I don't think there is anything Roger can't do, he's super skillfull! Would highly recommend him. :)

American Castles Mike To the RESCUE!!! The water heater at my rental property burst on a Friday afternoon causing some major damage to the house. The renters were furious because their items got damaged and the house wasn't inhabitable after that. On the inside, the bathroom wall and under stairway closet were all soaking wet and drywall/carpet/padding had to be removed immediately to prevent mole build up. On the garage side where the water heater located, the entire wall was destroyed. so I called my home insurance who provided me with their preferred plumber who quoted an additional $540 out of pocket on top of what the insurance was going to cover just so he can bring up the water heater installation to code! He told me that it will take him 1+ week to order the water heater (duh...get one from Home Depot take only 1hr...which is what Mike did) and that he can install a temporary water heater and will charge $137/wk! He also referred me to a water damage restoration company which I was not too happy with either. Since it was an emergency and I went with that company. They came in and ripped out all the wet drywall without caring for any molding; especially for garage doors and closet doors! It seemed like what ever the water heater didn't damage, they did. They also broke my water heater intake shut off valve. damage the water heater over flow copper pipe. All I can say is I will not use them again! Back to the plumber, something was smelling fishy about his quote and so I called and questioned this plumber. His response was "Well, I will need to flush out the gas line and calibrate your water pressure...upgrade to the new California safety quote...put in earthquake straps...install new vent line since the new water heater nowaday don't use the old vent line!". I was not convinces so I started to Google for good local contractor and AMERICAN CASTLES (Mike Tay is the owner) came up from Thumtack along with few others from other websites. I contacted them and they came in and provided me quotes. Mike was the last one I contacted. He arrived within 30min. He checked out the damages and explained to me what needs to get done sequentially to get everything back in proper operation for my tenants. Mike is very knowledgeable and very patient in explaining things. I told him what the plumber had said, he laughed and told me the whole thing was a rip off and a scam! Another crock of bull**** and advised me against it. He told me to call my insurance company to inquire about using other plumber. Sure enough I was offered the "cash out" option which I didn't even know was available. I took that option and went with Mike for the repair. Mike knows how important it is for my tenants to get the hot water running again once the water damage restoration company completed the clean up/dry out the area (took 1 week). As soon as that company removed their equipment, Mike had his crew come in the next day (Saturday) to repair the garage dry wall and finished the installation of the new water heater and brought it up to code on safety on Sunday! He even added the water pan and installed drain pipe for me. I didn't even know such a thing exists (talk about quality...he treats it like repairing his own home!). The best part is his charge for the whole job including new water heater, earthquake straps, valve, drain pan, vent and new connection is far way less than what that plumber was going to charge me. I loved the fact he took the time to show me how things should be done up to code and what works for my situation instead of just giving a price and walking away. He did an awesome job! Unfortunately my landlord insurance's deductible was so high, I asked Mike to give me a quote for fixing the damage in the garage and inside the house. Mike's quote was very competitive and the best part is he is always willing to work with me knowing my situation (thx Mike). My bathroom paint is 16 years old so it was a challenge to match the paint for the new wall. After only quoting me for painting a small wall inside the bathroom, Mike decided on his own to paint the entire bathroom without charging for it. Now that what I call TAKING PRIDE IN YOUR WORK AND STICKING TO YOUR WORD!!! My summary is, Mike successfully completed the entire job and installation in four days. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone and will definitely be using and referring him to everyone I know.

Wow George gave me a great quote for shaving 7 closet doors and putting them on track and to replace a toilet. The day scheduled to do the work, he managed to fix my refrigerator lines and repair a drawer as well as the closet doors and replacinh the toilet. He had to go look for some parts at a couple of stores and got the job done. We're very happy with his service. We will definitely call him again.

Excellent work!!! He installed a closet and bedroom door for me, I had doors but they were not the correct size BUT he worked with them anyway. He really put in a lot of work to get the doors I had working for this project. The project also took longer and was more work then expected but he didn't raise the cost!!! Can't say enough about how good he was, I highly recommend him to anyone!! Great QUALITY work!!! HIRE HIM FOR SURE!!!

George was responsive, diligent, paid attention to what I was looking for on the job, and worked with me on price. He put up crown molding, sealed, and painted it. He followed up afterward by filling in any separated joints/seams. He also made some custom kitchen cabinets for me that I was very satisfied with. We discussed the job and he made some good suggestions. He is easy to work with. I don't hesitate to recommend him.

Scott did a great job on our house this past summer. He built us an outside patio, tiled it with stone tile. He also built us a new closet which we love a lot. He is cheaper than a contractor and does a perfect job. I recommend his talent.

Henrick did a last minute project for me and I was super impressed with his skill and professionalism. He gave his opinion to a project that really made it it that much better. I haven't seen his wood work, but he matched the Ikea closets we had perfectly and we were really stoked with his work!

Scope - replace hallway floors (due to slight flooding/leak); gut reno one of the bathrooms; customize hallway closet(s). Pros: - Contractor was prompt to respond and quick to commence the job - Joe and his team are very professional - Quality of work is good - It is apparent that State Wide has a Subject Matter Expert for every aspect of the reno (different folks for plumbing, carpentry, tiles, flooring). Most likely 3rd parties but pros nonetheless. - flexible payment structure (also accepts CCs) Cons: - Execution was very slow; perhaps Joe's team was focused on bigger projects (it was mentioned on a few occasions) and it was apparent that our reno was not prioritized. - there were items that should have been spec'd out and ordered as to avoid delays (e.g. floor should have been matched on day1, subway tiles etc..). Numerous days were wasted as the team was waiting on the materials - my biggest frustration with the reno was the lack of empathy and accountability. Excuses/justifications were presented instead of just owning up to the significant delay (work was supposed to be executed in 10-14 days max; it took 30 days). It would have been completely fine if the delay was communicated properly instead of us hounding the team. Overall, we are happy with the renovation.

I first met Brad Snapir in 2011 when we met to discuss adding a second story onto our house in West Los Angeles which included a master bedroom, large bath, two closets and an additional reading room in back of the bedroom. All in all we added around 900 feet or perhaps a little more. It took us many meetings over almost a year's time before my husband and I were ready and prepared to begin the building process. Throughout this whole time Brad was understanding, patient and excellent at offering suggestions as to our remodel and willing to spend hours and hours meeting with us. We began the remodel in September of 2012 and we were back in the house in March of 2013 which was extremely quick. Needless to say there were questions and problems which arose during the building process but my husband, Brad and I were always able to work out whatever the problem was to everyone's satisfaction. If something had to be altered or changed in any way, Brad did it and did it well. We were very happy with the outcome of the remodel and happily moved back into the house after only 6 months although everyone told us it would be a year at least. Well they were wrong. Brad and his crew did the work quickly and well. If anything was not done exactly as I wanted they fixed it to be the way I wanted. I so appreciated the work that when I decided to remodel my kitchen in 2015 I immediately called Brad for the job. He worked with me in designing what I needed and ordering the necessary appliances, tile and countertops. I absolutely love the kitchen and would change nothing. It is exactly what I had in mind. The one other thing I want to point out about Brad is that over the years I have had several very very small jobs at the house which Brad has been so willing to just send one or two or three of his guys in a most timely manner and get the small job done. This has been a god-send as we all know how difficult it is to get work done on small jobs. I would recommend Brad and his company to anyone who wants a remodel large or small done and done well.
