I highly recommend Garry for his knowledge and creativity. He is always a pleasure to work with and will add ideas on the best ways to present any story. We worked together in both San Francisco and Los Angeles covering major news stories and feature story assignments. He is always well prepared and very knowledgable technically as a camera operator. At KTLA Ch.5 TV, Los Angeles, we won an emmy for our coverage of the 1st Interstate Bank fire. Garry did a great job of live coverage at the building which was burning while glass was falling out above us. He was able to get amazing pictures of the fire and we were able to speak with survivors who escaped the inferno. Working at CNN, San Francisco, we spent hours in a helicopter during a storm chasing a hot air balloon which crossed the Pacific attempting to set a round the world record but crashed on a northern California mountain. We had to jump out from the skid because the coptor could not land and spent a miserable rain filled wet day on the mountain where balloon pilot Rocky Aioki, the founder of Benni Hana restaurants, was rescued. Both of these stories were outstanding and Garry's work was far and away above average. Garry understands the intricacies of video and telling a story. Garry is a wonderful individual to work with. He was always prompt on shoot days, and he really is a one man band he has everything you could possibly think of and hope for in regards to equipment. How did you get started doing this type of work?
I feel like I was born to this coming from a family who were photographers in the 19th Century. I have worked with video since high school and I have covered news for local television, national and international networks. I have owned my own betacam in the 1990s, and with the changing times, I now own a DSLR camera package.
