I have known Cathy Rice for many years and have had her dog sit for my two Golden Retrievers. Cathy has a gentle manner with our dogs, and gives them the attention they need while I am away. My dogs have been well cared for in my absence. Cathy has a friendly personality and is very flexible with her schedule. I would highly recommend her for your pet sitting needs.

Elizabeth and Steven did a phenomenal job taking care of our 14 week old labradoodle Monty and our 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier Cooper. Because of Monty's age they stayed in our home which was not something we were initially comfortable with until we met Elizabeth. She immediately put us at ease with her professionalism and friendly nature. While the dogs were under their care we received consistent updates on what they were up to. We had a change of schedule and they were incredibly accommodating. Before they left they changed out sheets, cleaned up and left a really nice note...from the dogs. I would highly recommend Pawsitively Purrfect to anyone who needs pet sitting.

Christina did a great job cat-sitting for us while we were out of the country, even extending the time for an extra day on short notice when our flight was delayed.

There is no one better to care for or train your pets. We have left our three rambunctious boys in their care and they always have fun. They are treated like family and always come home well taken care of a little better than when we left them. When we get to Amy's house the boys go nuts! They don't even care when we walk away. If that doesn't speak well I don't know what would! They get one on one care and lots and lots of cuddles. Your pets are in great hands.

The first time I met Laura I knew she was a huge animal lover. My sheltie, Charlie, is usually reserved around people he doesn't know, but he took to Laura immediately. In fact, he couldn't wait for Laura to take him on his daily walks - whenever she arrived, he would be at the door ready to go. Charlie also liked to go to Laura's house for pet sitting. I felt very comfortable leaving Charlie at Laura's house because the other dogs she was sitting for were always friendly and never aggressive toward Charlie or toward each other. I highly, highly, recommend Laura Tait for all of her pet services - she's a real gem.

Pet sitting and cleaning. I had hired Debbie to stay over with my dog and cat while I went out of town for four days. I also asked her to clean the apartment (710 sqft). She gave me her flat fees for visiting the apartment during the day to walk my dog and staying over night. She gave me a low end and a high end for cleaning. She went me pictures of my pets while I was gone, and when I got home my apartment was cleaned top to bottom including the fridge and base boards. My dog didbdidn'teven seem to care very much that I was home which shows how much time she spent with him. I couldn't have asked for more or better or different. I will hire Debbie again in a heartbeat.

Melissa is the only person I trust with my pet sitting needs. She is professional yet caring and compassionate. She has been able to be flexible and works around my crazy travel schedule without a complaint. The best part is that my dog loves when Melissa is walking him or pet sitting.... it's like having his favorite aunt coming to visit him!

When I first contacted Margot, we did not actually have a dog yet. She followed up proactively and arranged to meet us and the dog right after we got him. We felt comfortable with her right away and she left with a key to our house and plans to start walking our dog the next day. It has taken a load off our minds to know she is giving him a mid day break each day. She gives us daily updates on how things went. I would definitely recommend her.

We had her come over and walk our dog while we were out of town for a week. She not only walked our dog, but gave her loving attention that she needed. We are very appreciative for everything she has done for us. Will definitely seek out her services again!

About

If you need help with pet care, dog walking, pet sitting, house cleaning from a trusted, respectful and caring professional, then I am your girl! Our pets get lonely during the day and would love a little extra attention to get them through that time when you are away. I would come to your home and give them love and care, walk and play with your dog(s), clean up any mess they made, brush, feed and provide water too, if requested. Cats don't like to be walked, but I offer the above services for them as well. Rats, hamsters, birds, snakes, and fish, I've had them all and know how to care for them. I offer housecleaning services as well. Sometimes just the company of someone in the home is good enough for your pet.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
