Li I. says, "Sam is a reliable contractor whom can be fully trust. Our project is to renovate our bathroom built in 1979 by expanding the size and converting the nearby closet to be a powder room. It not a small-sized cosmetic project and it includes plumbing and electrical works. You know that you don't want to mess it up with unreliable contractors. We interviewed 6 contractors and Sam is the only one who is not only the business owner but also the project manager. In the first appraisal, we were pretty impressed by his construction background and his quick understanding of our project scope. Professionality & communication are important to us since we both work full time and can't manage the project by ourselves for sure. After speaking with Sam, we felt he is easy to communicate and he knows how to fix the problems since he has the knowledge from his past experience. Even though he is not the cheapest one but the result shows that it worths the money. We have been using the bathroom for 3 weeks and so far so good. 1. Quality So far I would say I am pretty satisfied with the quality. Our bathroom went through inspections for sure and it passed inspections without any fixes required. And in terms of details, I am most satisfied with the tile works, which could be easily messed up due to some very detailed mistakes. The pattern & the lines are well matched in our case and it looks fantastic! 2. Design Sam's package comes with designer service. They provide a good 3D rendering design and also a shopping list to choose from. They did a pretty good job like help us shop the tiles and edge trims and grouts (color match is important and needs professional experience). The only small mistake is that the vanity size is not correct at the first time and we need to swap it with $250 restocking fee. 3. Communication We are very satisfied with Sam's communication efficiency. He is always reachable in our Whatsapp group chat. Since it's our first time renovating a house, we have tons of questions and Sam always answer the questions patiently. Sometimes we also do face-to-face communications or Facetime if questions can't be clarified in the chat. 4. Timeliness The crew works 9-5, almost 5 days a week. The whole renovation lasted for 6 weeks (inspections might take several days to schedule) and I think it's the reasonable time to well complete such a project."See more

Nancy I. says, "I initially hired Method Remodeling to remodel my guest bathroom. This was my first experience with a home remodeling project and I didn’t know much about the process. After interviewing local contractors across a wide cost range, I ultimately went with a general contractor, Method Remodeling, that was mid-range in terms of cost. With the lower quotes, I found that I would essentially be assuming many of the responsibilities and tasks that a good general contractor would typically manage for me. With the higher cost quotes, I found that they were not offering anything more than what Method would provide. Method Remodeling’s owner, Doron, went above and beyond to work with me to translate what I wanted into a documented project plan with measurable milestones and requirements. He kept the project on track to successful completion, managing all aspects of the project that a really good general contractor takes care of on your behalf: getting permits, scheduling and managing the various professionals/subcontractors (plumber, electrician, painter, etc.) including a designer that can help you select all of the materials you need and document your specifications in a functional installation design (cabinet height, shower head height, lighting placement, mirror placement, etc.) for the team to work from. Most importantly, Doron was extremely responsive, acting as point of contact and troubleshooting any issues that came up to their resolution. I was so happy with how the guest bathroom turned out that I subsequently hired Method to remodel my half bath and primary (master) bathroom. The end results are exactly what I wanted but much better than what I had originally envisioned. What I found through this experience is that you need a general contractor like Doron with knowledge and integrity that you can trust and rely on to do the right thing. As mentioned in other reviews, he has a very positive attitude and brings that energy to the project. He was extremely invested in the outcome of my projects and I ended up with three beautiful bathrooms that are nothing short of total transformation in terms of aesthetic and function. I’ve just hired Method to remodel my kitchen next!"See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
