We hired Cruz to trap, proof, and clean up mice and skunk in our crawl space and garage because of all the great reviews on Thumbtack. He just finished the main job and will come back next week to do a final check. We had an extensive problem and he did an excellent job. From the first onsite consultation to all the subsequent visits, Cruz did high quality work, was professional, respected our home, and worked around our schedule. He's also flexible to meet our additional asks: He filled in some holes in our deck foundation where we had seen skunk activity after we asked him; we also just asked him to do some more clean up in one part of the garage and he says he will when he comes back next week. Lastly, he stands by his work; he stressed that if we see any more rodent droppings in the future he will come back.
Shlomi and his crew did an excellent job dealing with rodents in our crawl space. They thoroughly cleaned the area, removed the rodents, replaced all insulation, put down a vapor barrier in the crawl space, and sealed all entry points. They also cleaned and replaced the insulation in our attic. Shlomi is a great communicator and patiently explained all the options for our problem. He worked with my on the cost and completed a huge job in one day as promised. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommended.
HE DID A GOOD JOB ON THE ATTIC INSULATION...DOES NOT GET AS HOT UPSTAIRS ..... IT DID BEFORE....
We had israel come yesterday to do some duct work on a ventilation system. To cut to the chase - I will keep Schmitt's phone number on speed dial as they are the only ones I would ever call again! Great work, amazing price. What more can you ask for?
Extremely insulation professional, fair price, on time, and they were extremely clean--- Pretty much like the rest of the reviews.. Job completed as planned without problems. I'm so glad we chose Healthy Duct Cleaning to clean our attic and put insulation in. Workers were polite and concerned with keeping my house clean as they worked. Well worth the money we spent on them. If you are looking for someone to do insulation work definitely call Healthy Duct Cleaning Worth many more than 5 stars!
I needed a bathroom ceiling fan replaced and Fred did a great job. Cleaned as he went along and left the bathroom just as he found it but with a working fan. He came out the same day to inspect and the fan was replaced within 48 hours. I will definitely call Fred with any future repairs
Mohamed is great, I highly recommend him for the job. I had to mount a new ventilation hood on my range top, because the new model I bought was very different from the old one, it would require the chimney structure be to torn down and rebuild. Most people did not want to take the job due to the complexity, Mohamed showed up on the first day of new year and was very precise on what he planned to do. He had a set price and communicated with me well during the work of each step he did, (most contractors don't really communicate with you withe the details of the work). The job was very complicated and not without obstacles, we had to redo the ducts twice to make the ventilation work, but he really spent the time thinking about the best solution, rather than just delivering an end product. Overall, highly recommend him.
Juan remodeled our unfinished attic space (about 700+ sq ft) from top to bottom and turned it into a new office studio. He laid out the framework, ran electrical wires, put up insulation and drywall, painted and stained, added window trim, installed hardwood flooring and baseboards, and added storage cabinets. He was able to finish our attic in three weeks, and for a very reasonable price. He is a very hard worker, and really creative with his solutions. He always had helpful advice for me when I wasn't sure what decisions to make. He is now our go to contractor when we need work done around the house. I highly recommend him for his work quality, professional etiquette, and ease of communication. I am very happy with the work he is done, and can't wait to work with him again.
Rico did some electrical work for us at one of our Noe Valley office's. He was very responsive to our emails and text messages and arrived on the day we had scheduled on time. I've already recommended him to a personal friend that's in need of some electrical work for her home.
Jon put hooked up three sinks to plumbing, installed the faucets, and a toilet. He was so personable and a complete professional. He is extremely knowledgable about all aspects of plumbing, sewers, etc. and the end result was perfect. He did the work in record time and for a very reasonable fee. I'd highly recommend him. This guy was awesome! Call him if you want an honest pro who will do the job right!
Jesse did a fantastic job installing the bathroom ventilation system in our apartment. He was courteous, professional and efficient. He also made sure to clean up after the project. I know this will be the first of many project I have Jesse work on at my home.
Marc and his team did a great job on our inlaw studio+bathroom remodel in the Mission. Very collaborative, Marc brought great ideas to the table. And once we decided on a plan, it was executed beautifully. Of course, there were some surprises lurking behind the walls (as might be expected in a nearly 100 year old home), which required some extra attention- including replacement of a portion of the foundation (eek!). Marc was very helpful in keeping us informed of things as they came up, and happy to give us daily walkthroughs. Unfortunately, due to these issues, the project took longer than expected and exceeded the initial estimate. However, despite this, Tight Lines deserves 5 stars. My husband and I (and our in-laws) are extremely pleased with the result! Photos to follow soon!
We purchased a new home in Danville and hired Kevin to help us with a variety of projects, starting with an attic clean out that quickly moved to new AC and ducting, insulation, air sealing, attic foil and more. We liked Kevin from the very start - he showed up early and gave us an honest assessment and a competitive quote. The job had its difficulties (through no fault of Kevin's), but he remained positive throughout the renovations and could always provide a cost effective solution that worked. He's truly a problem solver and a dedicated professional. At the completion of our first phase of renovations, we were sad to see Kevin go as he played such an integral role in getting our home ready for us to move in. We're preparing to do more work and have hired Kevin to help us again. We highly recommend Kevin. He's a pleasure to work with and will do a fantastic job, on budget. We could not be more pleased with his work.
Alex has done a variety of things for us in our home & all were very well done. He is fast, efficient, honest & very skilled. I highly recommend him for just about anything you might need in your home or business. Things Alex have done for us include: ~ Installing high quality vinyl siding & trim to withstand our very rough, wet environment. Still look great years later! ~ Installed custom soap stone kitchen counters including under mount sinks & back splashes - gorgeous! ~ Finished our basement to create a guest bedroom, bathroom & office for which our visiting friends & family really enjoy. ~ Super insulated our attic which paid for itself in reduced heating bills in a couple years. ~ Rebuilt our aging brick walkway & patio & they still look beautiful. ~ Rebuilt our fireplace removing old bricks & replacing them with a variety of stones for a much more modern look & feel. Obviously, I highly recommend Alex for any building project you might have. Jon P.
John is the best! He is reasonable, reliable and able to improvise. He does great work and will always go that extra step; he's a real detail man (he'e more of a perfectionist than you will ever dream of being). Painting, windows, light electrical, deck and fence repair, replace shower doors, assemble install Ikea armoires and washing machines, replace front door, super patching and matching texture, drainage repair--intuitively understands what you want done. (our PG&E bills have been cut in half since he tightened up all of our house's loose spots) John will get your job done, on time and at a lot less than you'd expect.
Denny is a consummate professional. What he quotes/proposes is exactly what you get. His work is top quality and he communicates well. I just got a vent fan installed in the kitchen where the duct had to be run to the outside. I also got another heating/cooling vent installed in the bedroom. He did both jobs perfectly and left the house just as clean as it was. He does all this at a great price. Highly recommend Denny
Larry was friendly and professional. He helped me out with a small job of replacing some casing around an attic access hatch. He was on time and the quality was excellent.
Kirk and his team performed an interior remodel and a new garage build for my house from January 2011 to July 2011. I am satisfied with Kirks work. He is very experienced in new constructions and remodels. He did a very good job for a very good price. Kirk also gave me lots of free extras at his expense. In March 2010 I purchased a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom house in Union City, California. The house was in good structural condition, but as a foreclosured unit, it needed some rehabilitation. The original detached garage was in poor condition; it was badly damaged by termites and water. My intent was to have the detached garage demolished and completely rebuilt from the ground up. I planned on doing interior renovation at a later time. I found Kirk from craigslist and he had a link to his Thumbtack page. I called him and he came by to give me an estimate. He said he could give me a really good deal on a new garage and do an interior remodel for a little more than what I would have paid for the garage alone. Kirk was really enthusiastic about doing my job, much more so than the other contractors I had come to give me a bid. Kirk also had very good ideas about modernizing the interior. He suggested a bar counter between my kitchen and dining area. He would also turn my empty utility rooms into a master bedroom and master bathroom. And he wanted to create a laundry machine closet. Kirk had an architect draw the construction plans; his architect did a really nice job. He submitted it to the city as part of the permit application process. I wanted the work done with all permits so everything would be by the book. It would also help should I decide to sell the house at a later date. Kirk started out on the interior work first. He demolished the old kitchen and utility room. He built a new kitchen, a master bedroom, a master bathroom, a laundry machine closet, and a small coat closet by the front door. Kirk said he could also do a couple more things to the interior. He would do the labor for cheap if I paid for the materials. So I agreed and Kirk also replaced my front door, front window, and sliding glass door. He also remodeled my fireplace and fixed a bunch of broken things in my original bathroom. Kirk also completely rewired the house. The original wiring was a dangerous mess, a potential fire hazard. The interior work was completed towards the end of April 2011 and all the work was approved by the city inspector. It looked really nice. I received many compliments from friends and family. I am fairly picky with details and I did notice a couple flaws with fit and finish. I pointed out them out to Kirk. He and his workers did fix them. The garage work started immediately afterwards. The old garage was not worth saving so it was demolished and hauled away. The original foundation was unusable. So Kirk jackhammered it out. Kirk poured a new heavy-duty foundation onto an extensive frame of rebar. He tied it into the house foundation. Then he framed the new oversized 510 square foot garage. Kirk added a storage attic with a pull-down ladder. Kirk also poured a new driveway that looked excellent. Kirk added a 50 amp subpanel to the garage. He also gave me a bunch of free extras like wall insulation. Kirk also used roof panels coated with an aluminum heat reflective substance. The garage was completed by the end of July 2011. It looked really nice. Like the interior, I also received compliments from friends and family. The above garage attic storage with the pull-down ladder was really useful. The garage also passed city inspection. There were also a few issues with fit and finish in the garage. Kirk fixed the problems that I pointed out. While the garage was being built, Kirk also repaired my patio awning and side perimeter fence. He did an excellent job on them. One lady even drove by, stopped, and complimented on how nice the outside looks. I am overall satisfied with Kirks work. He really transformed my house. Since everything was done with permits, I now have a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house on county and city records. If you want to see his work on my house, ask Kirk to give you my phone number.
Recently, Bert did a home renovation for us on a property we own in Alameda. He did an amazing job, better that we could have imagined. Our circumstances were a bit crazy considering the fact that we had just had a pipe in our home burst and had suffered major water damage. Despite all of this, Bert was able to help us complete a major renovation which included replacing all of our flooring, replacing or repairing things such as windows, doors, walls, and ceiling space, and completing two full bathroom renovations. Bert is an environmentalist, artist, designer and contractor all rolled into one. He is not only an amazing and thoughtful person, but he also delivers the highest quality work. Bert will carefully work with you, to collaborate and discuss your specific living or lifestyle needs, and then, he will come up with a beautiful and artistic design that considers all of your functional and budgetary needs. In our case, we didn’t have a lot of time to discuss and plan because we wanted to return our space to being livable again after a disaster, yet we were still able to achieve a completed project within a reasonable time frame, stay on budget and achieve a simply elegant aesthetic. Bert really cannot be compared to any average contractor. He is very easy to communicate with, and works very hard to achieve the best results. You will be his utmost priority as his client. One of the most impressive outcomes of our project was the reconfiguration of space we achieved in our bathroom and the final design aesthetic. Previous to the renovation, we had a large 1960s style upstairs bathroom, with a door separating our laundry unit and sink area from our toilet and shower/bath area. Bert suggested some major changes that had a huge positive impact on the project. He recommended that we replace our large, old inefficient separate washer and dryer with a stackable unit we could fit in a small closet. By doing this, we were able to knock out a wall and door that completely opened up and changed the layout of the space such that we could now fit an elegant walk-in standing shower and a completely separate copper Japanese-style soaking tub. In addition, he replaced the door that opened into the entry way of the bathroom with a Japanese style slider door, and as a result, we achieved more usable space in the bathroom, and also had more radiant light coming into our once dark hall way. In terms of the sink area, he replaced our single sink with an elegant and modern double sink custom-designed floating vanity made of quartzite on quartzite on top and with a reclaimed wood look on the drawers. The overall design of our new bathroom is truly the bathroom of our dreams, and is honestly a treasure. The space is still warm and inviting, but also healing, with a zen-like quality. One other very impressive quality of our renovation was the way he was able to help us transform our space with looking closely at details and high-quality craftsmanship in his work. In the case of our living area, he replaced the door to our veranda with an elegantly designed new glass slider, and removed the old window treatments from the inside, such that our living area now opens right into our outside space with a clear view of our garden-like terrace. The transformation simply was incredible, from dark to light, and from closed to open concept. In terms of craftsmanship, we were most impressed with Bert’s staff and how they were able to handle small details so carefully, such that the overall impact was huge. For example, the Bert’s staff was able to achieve beautiful results in our bathroom due to the high quality of their grout and tile work. In addition, they were able to repair cracked vintage tile in our fireplace that helped us to restore the appealing aspects of our 1960s vintage-like space. Furthermore, in Bert’s staff work around completing our flooring, they were able to completely replace all of our old floorboards, with more modern style and match our original paint seamlessly. As you can see, with Bert’s staff, hard work, dedication and know-how, you cannot go wrong with this choice!!!
Recently I purchased a 2600 square ft. house from 1945. My concern was the high electric bills I was to expect during the winter and high summer temperatures. The staff at Lemon Remodeling was quick to give me an estimate and super fast to execute the job. The walls got pressure-filled, subfloor stops installed and new attic insulation (R49), replacement of thermal windows and door! My house is comfortably fresh, and the street noise is cut down to an absolute minimum. Ask them for your insulation it's the best decision we took! HIGH-QUALITY WORK!
I interviewed several different contractors I found through couple of websites (Yelp & Thumbtack) for a recent remodeling project. Frano, owner at Sol Builders, was the fifth and last I met with, but I liked him the best. He offered practical suggestions and smart advice at the initial meeting (moving kitchen walls, enlarging a storage closet and putting laundry in it), which the other four contractors didn't bring up at all. Of the five bids I received, Frano’s was pretty much in the middle, so I hired him. The house is a duplex consisting of a main unit (2 bedroom/2 bathroom), separate guest unit (1 bedroom/1 bathroom), and a garage (2,200 sq. ft. total). It was built in 1918 and was in need of a major repair including the following: kitchen and bathroom remodels in both units (new cabinets, appliances, tile floors, fixtures, drywall, ceiling); new central air & heat installation; complete plumbing and electrical upgrade throughout; interior and exterior paint; hardwood floors refinishing; carpet installation; building new deck, new outside gate and fence; attic insulation. It was a complex project with a long list of tasks, details, decisions and deadlines, but thanks to Frano it was a smooth ride the whole 10 weeks, from the beginning to the end. He got all the permits and passed inspections on time. He worked with his structural engineer to knock down walls to open up my kitchen, and to install concrete pads, posts and a beam. His sub-contractors are very skilled and great team players. He got me contractor's discount at several vendors (tiles, kitchen cabinets and hardware, all faucets). Frano was on site every single day, and also communicated via text and phone several times a day giving me updates. He handled any issues that came up with ease, humor and professionalism. The project finished on time and looks exactly like I imagined it. I’m very happy to leave a positve review for Sol Builders on few different websites for a project that gave me lot of anxiety before we started.
Helen W Alameda, August 2016 I am very satisfied with the work SRS did for me. I lived in another house for 30 years, I had two roofs installed and they lasted approximately 15 years each. This is the first time I used SRS at my current residence and I have a feeling this roof may last twice as long as the last ones. The previous roofers were in and out in about a couple of weeks more or less. I really didn’t know what was going on then except that the new roof looked good. I paid for a new roof and that is what I got. The SRS job took longer to finish, but it seems I got more value for what I spent with their detailing. They did extra work tearing off additional layers of roofing, they completed extensive dry rot and carpentry work at the roof perimeter that was needed and installed extra flashings to prolong the life of some adjacent beams. The thing that separates SRS from the previous roofers is that Kasra, the owner of SRS, would explain everything to me daily on his job. He worked side by side with the roofers to insure everything was done correctly. He would regularly point out areas of concern on my roof. I could take care of it now, do it myself, hire them to do it or just catch it later. He also stated the pros and cons of delaying the work. My feeling is this is my house and I want to know how and when to take care of it. The best suggestion he made was to install a skylight in the garage and a sun tunnel in the darkest area of the house. In hindsight, I should have gotten these two items done years ago and now I cannot live without having free solar lighting. If you want a roofer who can explain everything to you when necessary then Sustainable Roofing Solutions is who you want for your next roofing job.
MIM renovated our iconic mid century modern house and the result is stunning as Meir Manor and his crew brought this first owner neglected 1953 built jewel back to its original state, if not even beyond. MIM is a very reliable company and you will get a contractor who stands to his word, something that is rare in Los Angeles - and after scanning the market for a quite a while. We meet with several other contractors that had no idea how to tackle this demanding project. That said, my wife and I are very happy with MIM and the result - we LOVE our new house - and can highly recommend Meir and his team.
