Matt did a great job on the concrete for my basement. I love my new floor.
We had three increasingly difficult challenges for Renato at Hilux. 1) install a wall to support a wall-mounted basement toilet; 2) construct a large built-in cabinet in a converted bedroom; 3) devise a way to float 12 bookshelves in a den, bedroom and living room. Renato was creative, thoughtful and efficient in all work. He manages his time and resources extremely well. His communication is courteous, effective and to the point. You will find him to be remarkably respectful of your time and money. We highly recommend Renato's work and Hilux.
Noel work was of outstanding quality and he was very professional and responsive. I would definitely recommend him!
Alex has done a variety of things for us in our home & all were very well done. He is fast, efficient, honest & very skilled. I highly recommend him for just about anything you might need in your home or business. Things Alex have done for us include: ~ Installing high quality vinyl siding & trim to withstand our very rough, wet environment. Still look great years later! ~ Installed custom soap stone kitchen counters including under mount sinks & back splashes - gorgeous! ~ Finished our basement to create a guest bedroom, bathroom & office for which our visiting friends & family really enjoy. ~ Super insulated our attic which paid for itself in reduced heating bills in a couple years. ~ Rebuilt our aging brick walkway & patio & they still look beautiful. ~ Rebuilt our fireplace removing old bricks & replacing them with a variety of stones for a much more modern look & feel. Obviously, I highly recommend Alex for any building project you might have. Jon P.

We contacted Thumbtack because we had purchased new appliances for our kitchen and needed two cabinets altered to allow space for the dishwasher and over-the-stove microwave. Marc Carrillo responded to our request, looked at the job, and we agreed to his hourly rate. In our discussions with him while he was altering the cabinets, we realized the extent of his knowledge and decided to have him update the countertop, linoleum, sink, and install all of the new appliances. We also asked him to replace the old bathroom tub faucets and shower head, and to re-install our tub/shower doors (which we had done incorrectly). Our duplex was built in the 50s, so there were some challenges with remodeling; Marc was familiar with the problems of older houses and knew exactly what he needed to do. Marc was extremely helpful with suggestions of the types of materials to use that were within our budget, and with a color scheme that would match the rest of the kitchen that was not being updated. We are very happy with Marc’s work, and our updated kitchen is beautiful. Marc has an extensive inventory of tools, including many types of power tools, and he did everything himself: electrical, plumbing, hand cutting and laying tile, and making trim to fit some very awkward spaces. We will definitely contact Marc at Tight Lines Construction for our next project.
Kirk and his team performed an interior remodel and a new garage build for my house from January 2011 to July 2011. I am satisfied with Kirks work. He is very experienced in new constructions and remodels. He did a very good job for a very good price. Kirk also gave me lots of free extras at his expense. In March 2010 I purchased a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom house in Union City, California. The house was in good structural condition, but as a foreclosured unit, it needed some rehabilitation. The original detached garage was in poor condition; it was badly damaged by termites and water. My intent was to have the detached garage demolished and completely rebuilt from the ground up. I planned on doing interior renovation at a later time. I found Kirk from craigslist and he had a link to his Thumbtack page. I called him and he came by to give me an estimate. He said he could give me a really good deal on a new garage and do an interior remodel for a little more than what I would have paid for the garage alone. Kirk was really enthusiastic about doing my job, much more so than the other contractors I had come to give me a bid. Kirk also had very good ideas about modernizing the interior. He suggested a bar counter between my kitchen and dining area. He would also turn my empty utility rooms into a master bedroom and master bathroom. And he wanted to create a laundry machine closet. Kirk had an architect draw the construction plans; his architect did a really nice job. He submitted it to the city as part of the permit application process. I wanted the work done with all permits so everything would be by the book. It would also help should I decide to sell the house at a later date. Kirk started out on the interior work first. He demolished the old kitchen and utility room. He built a new kitchen, a master bedroom, a master bathroom, a laundry machine closet, and a small coat closet by the front door. Kirk said he could also do a couple more things to the interior. He would do the labor for cheap if I paid for the materials. So I agreed and Kirk also replaced my front door, front window, and sliding glass door. He also remodeled my fireplace and fixed a bunch of broken things in my original bathroom. Kirk also completely rewired the house. The original wiring was a dangerous mess, a potential fire hazard. The interior work was completed towards the end of April 2011 and all the work was approved by the city inspector. It looked really nice. I received many compliments from friends and family. I am fairly picky with details and I did notice a couple flaws with fit and finish. I pointed out them out to Kirk. He and his workers did fix them. The garage work started immediately afterwards. The old garage was not worth saving so it was demolished and hauled away. The original foundation was unusable. So Kirk jackhammered it out. Kirk poured a new heavy-duty foundation onto an extensive frame of rebar. He tied it into the house foundation. Then he framed the new oversized 510 square foot garage. Kirk added a storage attic with a pull-down ladder. Kirk also poured a new driveway that looked excellent. Kirk added a 50 amp subpanel to the garage. He also gave me a bunch of free extras like wall insulation. Kirk also used roof panels coated with an aluminum heat reflective substance. The garage was completed by the end of July 2011. It looked really nice. Like the interior, I also received compliments from friends and family. The above garage attic storage with the pull-down ladder was really useful. The garage also passed city inspection. There were also a few issues with fit and finish in the garage. Kirk fixed the problems that I pointed out. While the garage was being built, Kirk also repaired my patio awning and side perimeter fence. He did an excellent job on them. One lady even drove by, stopped, and complimented on how nice the outside looks. I am overall satisfied with Kirks work. He really transformed my house. Since everything was done with permits, I now have a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house on county and city records. If you want to see his work on my house, ask Kirk to give you my phone number.
Dan was super prompt, did great work, and was a great value. He had good taste and insights and transformed our basement bonus room. He was easy to work with and we're thrilled with the outcome! 10/10 would hire again
Jean Luc renovated my kitchen - taking my old 1940s kitchen down to the studs and redoing the entire space, including moving some doorways. The kitchen turned out beautifully! Jean Luc is easy to work with - fair, honest, and provides valuable insight. I will definitely hire him again for future renovations!
Brought Kieran in to reframe a section of our wall so we could put a wide in-wall speaker in, and then drywall/spackle/paint large chunks of our living room where a home theater installation crew had cut sections out to run cables. Kieran was prompt and helped us adjust plans on the fly after we cut into walls and found load-bearing studs. Did an excellent job of managing dust and cleaning up while we lived in our apartment during the job. Great job on the actual work - looks just like the original wall. Was prompt, on-time, and sent frequent updates. Also cleaned up a considerable mess left by the home theater crew.
I had a very difficult time finding someone to help me with my project in my basement. It wasn’t big enough for a lot of contractors and was too big big for a lot of other folks. I am so glad I found Pat. He And his colleagues did an amazing job with the renovation of our basement! He is extremely trust worthy, timely and efficient. I greatly appreciate Pat’s work and I have recommended him to all my neighbors and friends.
I had Marcos install a fire safe wall with fire door in basement area, per Daly City code requirement. He knew exactly what I wanted, had his two workers at the job site on time every day. The workers were extremely professional. It was a very satisfying experience.
I asked Americam Builders to provide a bid to help me update my 1926 kitchen. I had started the project but certain aspects where beyond me. Mark gave me reasonable estimates to remove part of a overhanging lathe and plaster exhaust area, drywall the wall, install a new exhaust hood including new electrical, install Ikea cabinets, and install Ikea countertops. He and his crew did a great job. While they were here I noticed dryrot under my front window. Mark immediately knew why it was there (incorrect install that someone else has done 9 years ago) and fixed the problem for a reasonable amount. Mark is very knowledgable about older homes. I'm pleased with the results in the kitchen and I'm glad I hired American Builders. I've already recommended him to several people and had asked him to provide an estimate to replace a trapdoor to the basement and install a new side door.
I asked Jorge to come to my apartment and fix a couple holes on the wall. He gave a very reasonable price quote, was easy to communicate with, and did a great job. I'll definitely be hiring him for future work.
Room addition, existing bedrooms expansion and exterior stucco for entire house. Excellent and Professionally Done!
Ashot was great to work with. He was very flexible with his timings to meet us to discuss the progress etc. he gave many great cost saving ideas to incorporate throughout the remodeling. Our house has turned out to be great. The timing got extended by a few weeks (like every other contract job) but for that, we were very satisfied with his delivery. I will recommend And use his services for my next house remodeling too.
