I hired Arisel to haul some dirt I had piled in the back of my house from a project my wife and I had been working on in the lawn. He was able to come to my house right away and quote. Price was reasonable and he was back the next day with help to get the dirt hauled away. We had him quote the pending projects we have been working on in the yard. (Installing base rock/sand, install big slate patio pavers, install gravel/pebbles, sod, landscape borders, and more...) We ended up using him to complete everything! It turned out really really nice. We were a little nervous in the beginning since we don't have much experience hiring help for our projects but Arisel kept in great contact and communicated wonderfully. He brought the right people to help with the jobs too. We will probably have him do any new project in the future.
Tom is building our gazebo that we purchased at Costco. We are so impressed with his work, his reliability and prices. We are already recommending him to everyone we know.
Vyron was great at working through various issues with my defective faucet. He kept coming back to install new spare parts until the job was done.
We hired Gleo to fix an electrical issue as well as install a light fixture in our staircase. He was through and handled a complex job with ease. He also held to the price he originally quoted despite working longer then he expected. He is also licensed, insured and guarantees his work. We highly recommend Gleo and would hire him again without question.
I hired Gusanito to install porcelain tiles in my bathroom. He was very prompt--being the first contractor to contact me on thumbtack--and quickly responded to my text messages whenever I had a question. He takes his time and is very detailed in his work. He is also willing to help you with other problems. For example, in addition to installing the tiles, I also wanted to change my sink faucet and shower handles. He agreed to do the extra work at a reasonable price. The tile installation went smoothly, however, we ran into plumbing issues which he couldn't solve. I'm giving him four stars because I hired him on thumbtack for tile installation services, not plumbing. Nonetheless, he agreed to bring his cousin (who is an experienced plumber) over the next day to change my sink faucet at no extra cost. The total work took about two full days to complete, but I'm sure it would have been less if we didn't run into the plumbing issues. So I recommend him but make sure you talk with him thoroughly about what you want to accomplish.
Andres and his team did a great job for us with some crown molding repair and installation and installed a hearth and some tile work. Super cooperative, great work and very very nice people. Did a fantastic job of cleaning up and completing the work. Lots of different skills to draw on. We truly appreciate their help. The price was fair and we are very happy!
Tony was a pleasure to work with. We needed 300 sqft of pavers installed and he did it the right way from start to finish. He was personable, professional and just all around a good guy. Tony even got the sand and gravel at his supplier and saved us a bundle on what we would have paid at Home Depot of Lowes. I will be calling him for our next project no doubt!
We worked with Jack Frost Designs to handle a large assembly project in our retail store. They assembled 14 patio furniture sets and a large gazebo display for us. Their assembler Kevin arrived on time. Kevin was courteous, neat in appearance and his work. He was very patient as we organized the product for him to assemble and we unfortunately made him wait a little. He was enthusiastic and very helpful. We will definitely recommend and work with them again. Thank you Kevin and Chris. Mike
Chris was a true professional and you can tell by his work. We had Chris stain a fence we recently had installed at our house and he did an incredible job doing so. He cares about his customers and wants to make sure he gets their approval before considering a job complete. I highly recommend him for jobs you need taken care of at your home.
Nick did a great job installing my TV wall mount. He was efficient, respectful, and an all around great handyman.
I had tile installed in my bathroom and laundry room. I have had many compliments on how beautiful it is.
Arthur did a excellent job of replacing all of my bedroom light fixtures and light switches. Plus he fixed a short my garage was having which was great. He then installed baseboard and crown in my master bedroom which was fantastically done. He told me he also installs and mounts TVs so while he was here i had him mout 4 TVs with hidden cables. I'm giving him a call for all my home needs!
We hired Dave to do a medium sized job at our home. It was what I would call a "landscape refresh/repair". We had another landscaper do some work a couple of years back and it looked great at first but quickly because a major issue as the lawn was dying and the flagstone he installed started falling apart within a very short period of time. We tried on a number of occasions to get the other landscaper to come back and fix his work but he never did. So, I finally came to Thumbtack, interviewed a number of possible landscapers and landed on Dave. This time, as a way of protecting ourselves from our last experience I asked Dave to sign a contract prior to starting. He was totally willing to do that which gave me some peace of mind. He got started when he said he would and overall the project went very smooth. First I'll list the positives from our experience: • Job was done in a reasonable amount of time and the end result is beautiful! • Dave stayed within the budget we set • He did some little extras for us which were greatly appreciated like building a redwood box to cover our sprinkler valves and added some soil around our front yard fence posts to even out the grade of the lawn. • He was selected very nice looking plants for us, with minimal direction from me, and chose larger size plants to give it a better look to start out and also to give the plants a better chance of surviving. Landscapers we have used in the past plan 4" plants instead of 1 gallon to save money but many of them die within the first couple of weeks. • He will continue to come by and keep tabs on how things are growing and make sure nothing dies right out of the gate. • He came up with innovative solutions to some of our irrigation issues Here are a couple of things that were less than perfect: • There were a couple of miscommunications between Dave and the guy who was doing the work. One of those led to a very frustrating couple of hours for my husband who had to dig out a bunch of new soil and mulch in order to find disconnect speaker and lighting wires and repair them even though the worked knew that those wires were disconnected. Instead, the worker should have waited to cover those areas until the wires were fixed. Dave handled this well though and worked with my husband on getting the issue resolved. All in all, we were very happy with Dave and his team. They were clean, courteous and did quality work. I will update again in a few weeks with how things are growing.
We initially hired Victor to frame and hang twelve sliding doors. It was a custom installation, yet Victor quickly grasped the concept, asked good questions, and went to work. At the end of the day he sent a status update and pictures. We were happy with his framing work so we also hired him to install seventeen can lights. Two sets requires running wires inside of walls and installing new switches. Victor and his partner did an excellent job. We are very happy with his performance and will definitely hire him on future projects.
We wanted a pergola built for our backyard as well as an outdoor shower enclosure. After several interviews with contractors I was getting discouraged at the lack of professionalism. After meeting with Noah, I knew he was the right person for the job. He was willing to work with my design ideas and contributed some additional ideas that complimented our existing plan. He was professional, personable, on-time and most-importantly built us a beautiful structure that we could not be more pleased with!! We asked him back a few months later to build us a side gate for our house. While he was in the middle of constructing that, a massive 80-foot tree fell in our backyard, breaking one of our water faucets and water was flowing freely. Noah called me at work, and was gracious enough to turn off our water, cap the broken water line and save us from an even bigger disaster. He went above and beyond. We will hire him in a second for any future construction jobs we may have!
I highly recommend Richard. He's skilled, thorough, and trustworthy. I hired him for to help with (1) the removal of scrap building material, (2) fixing a stuck front door, (3) changing an interior door to open from the opposite side, (4) expanding a doorway so I could install new appliances, and (5) helping me pickup furniture and put it together. He had great attention to detail, making suggestions about what options I had, and giving me great ideas that I hadn't considered. He's an incredibly hard worker, a perfectionist, and produces high quality work. I will be hiring him for more projects again in the future!
I hired Miguel to assemble a chair and install a keyboard tray at a business location. I needed someone who was reliable and professional. Miguel turned out to be both. He kept me informed of his schedule, was responsive, efficient and the job was well done. I will definitely keep his name and number and call him again when I have a need in his area. Very happy with his services.
I hired Mike to install new mirrored closet doors and remove the old ones. Initially, I contacted him through a recommendation on the NextDoor site. He then contacted me by phone and we set an appointment to meet so he could give me an estimate for the work to be done. He came by the at the scheduled time, and we chatted in depth about the doors I had chosen (which he offered to pick up as part of the estimate) and shared ideas. After he left, I received a written estimate in my email within a few hours. I signed it and emailed it back and then set an appointment to have it done. As a note: he has a special Handyman's license so no job can be over $500 total for labor and materials. I found him to be very efficient and thorough, extremely friendly and an excellent communicator. He did a great job!!! I definitely plan to hire him again in the near future for a "Honey-Do" list and be happy to give him a future reference
Brought Kieran in to reframe a section of our wall so we could put a wide in-wall speaker in, and then drywall/spackle/paint large chunks of our living room where a home theater installation crew had cut sections out to run cables. Kieran was prompt and helped us adjust plans on the fly after we cut into walls and found load-bearing studs. Did an excellent job of managing dust and cleaning up while we lived in our apartment during the job. Great job on the actual work - looks just like the original wall. Was prompt, on-time, and sent frequent updates. Also cleaned up a considerable mess left by the home theater crew.
