I have taken Intermediate Level French Lessons with Marion from January through June 2016. Her lessons are well prepared and she is flexible with the material being covered. She is extremely punctual. My overall experience was great.
I took one-on-one classes for 2 weeks and was very happy with the lessons. I found them to be a good combination of grammar and conversation and also tailored to my needs - in terms of class content, exercises and also scheduling.
I have been a student of French with Ingrid Rombaut for several years beginning at the beginner/intermediate level thru advanced. She is a very generous and knowledgeable teacher both in regard to language acquisition, literature and culture. I particularly value her knowledge of music and French popular song. I highly recommend her.
Christelle is by far the best French teacher I have ever had. She taught me 3 levels within 6 months and I am now able to understand, write and speak much better. Christelle is extremely passionate about teaching French and personalizes her classes for her students. She is different than a regular teacher who may only follow a book line by line which can make the learning process dry and boring. She concentrates on teaching the language in an easy to understand fashion as it is much easier to remember rules when they make sense. Her teaching is focused on the most important aspect of learning a language - getting you to listen and speak. She'll let you know what you need to concentrate on every week and will take you out of your comfort zone so you actually start speaking. Christelle does all of this in an environment where you look forward to your next class - her fun personality only adds to the great learning experience. I would recommend Christelle to anyone regardless of level trying to learn/improve their French.
I wholeheartedly recommend Laurence. She's a superb French teacher. She tailors her lessons to her students' educational needs, has a wonderful teaching style and is very patient. Laurence makes learning fun by incorporating different types of media and topics into her lessons. I enjoy learning about the French while learning French. If you're looking for a French tutor, contact Laurence et en avant.
Jeffrey is a very accomplished scholar and talented lecturer and tutor. He is attentive to students' needs, genuinely concerned about their development, and invests and unusual level of effort in producing his lessons and lectures. He has a broad range of experience to offer in all types of writing, from professional documents to academic essays. His command of the language and his extensive knowledge of its use and its history give him a particularly nuanced approach to both writing and editing.
I hired Veronique to have a conversation with me in French and she's great: easy and fun to talk with, she subtly gave me hints and suggestions on vocabulary and errors, and flexible & patient scheduling & location to meet. I hope to keep meeting with her for some time to sharpen up my French before a trip there later this year.
Yuki is an excellent teacher. I hired Yuki 7 months ago for Japanese lessons and have been studying with her ever since. Not only have I learned more than I expected, I have had fun while doing so. Yuki's ability to answer questions, correct mistakes and push me just enough beyond my comfort zone, all while offering encouragement and instilling confidence, creates an engaging, productive and enjoyable learning environment. In addition to her skill in teaching the language, Yuki shares a wealth of knowledge regarding Japanese culture and current events, regularly weaving this into our lessons. Many aspects of Japanese culture are reflected in how the Japanese language is used. Yuki's ability to blend language learning with cultural insight reinforces my understanding of both and provides a practical and realistic context for my developing language skills. I find this extremely valuable, especially when compared to other language learning experiences that rely primarily on exercises that are contrived and don't reflect how native speakers actually converse. One hallmark of an excellent teacher is their ability to understand and adapt to a student's needs and learning style. Yuki does this extremely well. During our very first lesson, she specifically asked what my motivation and goals are, what experience I've had with the language (if any) and how I like to learn. This was comforting and encouraging, since clearly she wanted to teach me in a way that worked well for me, not simply based on her preferred style of teaching or a "one size fits all" approach. It took me a while to realize that she was continuing to observe and adapt to my learning style months after that first meeting. As an example, I mentioned during a lesson that I was encouraged because I could often understand much of what Yuki would say in Japanese. She responded that she had purposely been speaking at full speed, as native speakers do, because she felt that I had progressed to the point where that was just enough of a challenge to help me learn without being too difficult to be discouraging. I can't remember how we had progressed to that point, but Yuki was clearly keeping track of my progress, where I was getting comfortable and where I was still challenged, and had adapted our lessons over time to what I needed at that moment. I highly recommend Yuki as a language teacher. She cares about her students and applies all of her knowledge and teaching skill toward helping them reach their individual goals. She creates a very supportive and comfortable environment, which is invaluable when learning a language. Her ability to integrate cultural insight and current events adds a depth to her language lessons that is not easy to find and makes her lessons more relevant, practical and engaging. Perhaps most telling of all, I have learned more than I expected and I have had a lot of fun doing it.
"I contacted Jacqueline for my daughter prior to her student exchange trip to France. She needed to learn the basics of the French language. The lessons with Jacqueline were very informative and fun. Lots of conversation examples from maps and pictures and a little vocabulary. This is the best way to learn a language from someone who is native from there . My daughter really enjoyed the lessons and she felt much more comfortable to leave for Paris. Thank you Jacqueline. I will definitely recommend you to all my Friends."

I am a Hebrew teacher of 13 years, and I have dedicated my life to teaching. I am fluent in Hebrew and English, and I really enjoy teaching these languages.
I offer a joyful learning of French. I am a French instructor who loves my work, and I have taught in the high school and college levels for over 25 years. I am credentialed by the State of California to teach in the community college system, and I have an M.A. in French from UC Berkeley. I emphasize a solid grounding in the workings of the French language, and I aim to bring my students to meaningful self-expression. I've had a lot of success with students who are shy or feel that they don't learn languages easily. Having spoken French since the age of 13, and having lived and studied in France, I speak with a native accent. (As a matter of fact, I particularly enjoy teaching students how to pronounce authentically, and often when they go to France afterwards, the French are a bit floored!) The name of my school is "French with Joy", and in fact, my students feel really at ease, enjoy the classes, and laugh a lot.
I can give lessons of reading, writing, and talking in Spanish, mostly for beginners, but I'm fluent; I can also help other levels because I lived most of my life in Colombia. The price per hour is $17, but I can fix it depending on where it is and on how many hours.
