Ben Mchatton says, "after me and my family recently moved to kentfield with our three small children, we moved into a house built in 1937. This was an older home and we needed a full home remodel to accommodate our needs, including a more open floor plan, a remodeled master bathroom and an enlarged master closet to accommodate our needs. After hearing all the horror stories out there of our friends working with contractors and not getting the result, we wanted it was really important for us to interview several contractors prior to making a decision. After meeting with Isaac with Green Bay remodeling in our initial consultation, we were immediately put at ease with his professionalism attention to detail and creative ideas to accommodate our vision.Through the design planning process and permitting, Isaac was a tentative and provided transparent communication constantly. When the project started, the crew showed up between 8 and 9 AM every day leaving 4 to 5 PM every weekday just as Isaac said. The crew was efficient and kept the job site cleaner at all times. A stand out for us was their tile worker Victor did incredible work showing. The years of experience he had in the field. The finish result of the project is nothing short of breathtaking and we have Isaac and his team to think for making our dream home.We consistently refer Isaac and his team to friends and family in the neighborhood!"See more

Julia S. says, "The work that Karl performed for me was extensive since I have a 5000sq. ft. home. I will describe each area of the job. Plumbing: Replaced all fixtures in 3 bathrooms including underneath all sinks hot and cold water valves. Cleaned out all drains in sinks and showers. Cleaned out main drain to house ensuring no back up within entire house. Electrical: Installed Gfi plugs wherever necessary. Installed carbon monoxide/fire sensors throughout house, including garage. Removed old light fixtures and installed recessed lights in bathroom ceiling. Installed new light fixture in entrance of home. Removed old lights around perimeter of house and installed outdoor security lights. Removed old appliances in kitchen; installed new oven, gas stove top, new washer and electrical dryer. Master bedroom fixed recessed lighting that was not working, also installed magnification mirror at makeup area. Replaced garage door opener that was not working and made sure that all remotes were programmed and working, five in total. Tile Work: Finished tile work in home that was started by another contractor and left unfinished. Was very concerned that work would not match up but Karl completed job beautifully! And Karl was very, very conscientious in making sure there was no grout debris left on tile, unlike previous work that was done. Karl cleaned previous workers tiles and sealed tile whereas other contractor left undone. Went throughout house and fixed any missing grout from tile work done in previous years, with good match up. In one bathroom I didn't want the old tile removed but it was very dirty. He cleaned up tile to look new. Cleaned up all tile in bathroom shower stalls. Replaced grout on veranda outside kitchen. Paint: Karl's paint work was clean and concise. If I wasn't happy with any of his work, he would go back and do as asked with a very positive attitude because he wanted me to be happy. It was all about what I wanted, not what he wanted. Always with a smile and concern for my feelings. Stucco and Grout Outside Home: Steps and railing leading to front door were badly damaged due to earth settlement. Filled all cracks and secured railing. Filled all hairline cracks wherever necessary on outside of home and repainted. General Construction: Changed out all hardware on all doors throughout house. Built me 3 closets, one in former office which I turned into a bedroom. In family room I had 2 closets, one he redid into a space for an office installing electrical and bringing in lines for Internet connection. He then took an office desk for the computer that I had in office, cut it down to fit within closet therefore creating an office within closet whereby I could close doors when finished working. Installed all computer equipment, wifi, printers, etc. The other closet he built shelves and coat rack, all from scratch. Cleaned all my kitchen cabinets and put a clear coat on for shine. Cleaned and polished all laminate countertops in kitchen for shine to bring back luster. Installed water filtration system in kitchen. Hung new rods for curtains in bedrooms. Cleaned all vents and replaced air filters in whole house. Inventoried all keys to all doors and had copies made and labeled for all doors throughout home. Installed security locks to pool room and sliding glass doors leading to balcony off kitchen for child-proofing. General, General: Karl is a jack of all trades and can do ANYTHING. He also does computer work, can solve or come up with any solution that you may have a problem with. He thinks outside the box. If you know how to ask and communicate, be clear and concise with what you want done, be honest in your request for a job done, Karl is YOUR MAN. He is EXTREMELY FAIR, has a CONSCIENCE! and wants to please. Your responsibility is to be those things in kind. Karl is a huge find. I kept him working for about a year because there were so many things to be done. I actually and honestly was sad that the project ended. Karl is now my go to because I turned my house into a rental. He is on call for any and all projects because I know that he is reliable and trustworthy. "See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
