Sam was excellent throughout the process of getting the permits from the city. He was always responsive, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality work on time. His expertise, dedication greatly contributed to the success of the project. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent architect who consistently exceeds expectations. His work of getting us the permit is done already but this nice guy Sam is still helping us with the construction part for no additional cost since we got the permit under homeowner builder and we were new to this kind of detailed construction. I wish I could give Sam more than 5 stars. I will definitely update my review with the pictures upon completion of our project. Thanks much Sam for all your efforts and being amazingly patient with us.

I didn't end up hiring Altus due to my project needs changing. However, due to Sam's high level of professionalism and fast response time, I felt it was appropriate to leave a review. I received a punctual call, and we discussed the project needs over the phone, for which he was willing to provide me an estimate (it was a simple/small project for drawings for repair only).

Sam and his team helped us navigate a complex permit back and forth with the city of San Jose. He was on top of all city requests and was able to get us the original permit and revisions. As first timers when it comes to ADU construction, Sam and his team have done a SUPERB job not only helping us with our needs, but educating us with all the different state/county ordinances from plumbing, electrical, to even solar requirements. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our fees are competitive, considering that we are a one stop shop.
Besides drafting the architectural plans, we usually see the entire process through until you get our permit and have a network of engineers, permit techs, former plan checkers on our team that assist in the process.
After you get your permit and begin construction we are always available should a revision become necessary or a detail needs clarification.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually we start with a phone consultation where we can usually provide a quote over the phone after asking a few questions, followed by a site visit where we offer our feedback to a client.
Afterwards, we can be on site measuring within a few days and have a first draft within 3 weeks, 4 weeks for larger projects.
On occasion we can accomodate faster turn arounds.
