Beyond Green Construction Co
SF Condo Remodel
Photos and Videos
I hired Alex from Beyond Green to bring a couple of door frames up and frame in a pantry. Well, that went so well, we redid the entire kitchen! They installed lower cabinets and laid the plywood sub-counter to accept the pre-ordered quartz countertop. Tiled the entire wall backsplash, created floating shelves, installed new appliances and built a custom sliding door for the pantry. It came out awesome so good it was featured on CurbedSF. He was on time everyday and was thoughtful in his approach to working in an old building. I would definitely hire Beyond Green again, probably tomorrow! Update: We sold our condo and moved to Oakland, where Alex and his crew have been a fixture at our new house. We hired him again to complete a whole slew of random contracts and had them rebuild our 800sq.ft. deck. The old deck was under built and rotted out. Alex came in and built a bomb proof, 50 year deck complete with Ipe decking and was again, on time and at budget. We already have him looking at our other deck as well as finishing our basement, next year. Some things change, but Beyond Green has stayed the same with their honest policies and on time completions! Thanks Alex!Nov 13, 2018Verified
Basement Finishing or Remodeling
Beyond Green Construction Co did a quality job, which included complex sound proofing, and I'm very happy with the end result. Communication was exceptional before, during, and after (a period when many other contractors fall short) the job. I've worked with many contractors over the past 10 years and would rank my experience with Beyond Green Construction Co among the best.Oct 7, 2019Verified
Alex was on time and asked necessary clarifying questions and then got to work on my small cabinet-removal job. He left the work area cleaner then he arrived.Dec 14, 2017Verified
Deck or Porch Addition
First of all, Alex did what he said he would do, for the amount he said he would do it for, when he said he would do it. So, that's better than 90% of contractors. Better yet, he is a thoughtful guy who clearly takes a lot of pride in continuing to learn and do a good job; what comes across is that he likes his work and is working to be really good at it. I'll definitely hire Alex again the next time I need work done.Oct 24, 2015Verified
Alex was great! We hired him to do the floor tiles in our bathroom. When that went great, he said he could do the backsplash in our kitchen. Both jobs were timely and turned out super. Next we needed help with the stairs for our back deck. Alex took on the job and also finished building out the deck, stairs and railing. He delivered on time and within budget -- two things that aren't easy to come by. We highly recommend working with Alex.Jun 26, 2015Verified
License Type: B - General Building Contractor (CA)
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My pricing structure is typically a fixed bid price, although on smaller jobs an hourly structure can be preferable for some clients. Generally, my rates are lower than comparable contractors. Most truly comparable contractors offering high end construction, are more established in the Bay Area, and are charging record high rates (it's currently June, 2019). Being a newer, less established contractor my pricing strategy is undercutting these contractors in price, while doing comparable level work and providing a comparable (or better) overall experience for the client.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? The process starts with listening and understanding what the client wants, answering all questions and making suggestions as I see fit. Every project is different so from here it can go a few directions. Often the project will go back into (or finish up) the design phase. Other times, the project may be able to start right away. Either way the next step is I'll provide a detailed estimate for my the client. This lays out exactly what I'll do, and what I'll charge. From there all questions and concerns can get worked through. If the client would like to move forward then I'll draft the contract. This lays out a payment schedule, and typical construction contract terms. Then, once signed the project starts!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?- Almost 20 years on construction sites - 4 excellent mentors over the years, passing on easily 100 years of combined experience. - Countless hours of self education: reading books/publications, observing other contractors methods/practices, product research, studying building/plumbing/electrical codes, - EPA Certified Lead Renovator
