Very disappointed. Arrived @ least 20 mins late. Delivered warm lemonade—we had to go get ice! I Ordered meat &cheese platter with turkey. Did not get turkey, but some other form of dark mystery meat & the cheese slices were melted together and oilt due to being warm. I was embarrassed when guests went to eat. I introduced myself to her and she didn’t want to talk to me bc she was so rushed to leave. Two star bc she has great menu selection, fruit tarts were great & she has cute ideas but needs to work on delivering food when promised and get proper containers to keep cold items. Feel she should have offered to retun a portion of my payment because I Do not feel I got $’s worth at all.
Dear Mark, "That was such a wonderful, successful event, thank you for inviting us to the American Liver Foundation Gala. You prepared your Five star signature menu that highlighted Foie Gras, Oysters Caviar, Panko Blini, Saffron Champagne Risotto Filet Mignon and Lobster Port wine reduction. The service we excellent and the floral was stunning. Thank you! Emily B.
Eva is amazing!! When I first met her for my cake tasting she was the sweetest ever. She answered every single question we had. Didnt pressure us into deciding at that moment. Her cakes are amazing! Highly recommend her cookies and cream filling. To die for! She styled my cake exactly as I wanted and everybody loved it!! I had people telling me how delicious the cake was. Overall my experience was amazing and I would definitely recommend Eva and use her again for future events.
Nicole catered our baby shower for 30 ppl yesterday and everything went perfectly! While Ive attended many catered events, I was an inexperienced host - so asked a lot of questions. She came up with many great choices for small bites, and I was particular about using organic ingredients, vegetable-based, fish ok but no other meat. Food was so delicious and presented very well with tasteful garnishes. Weather was unseasonably hot, and she was very helpful in switching to 'Plan B indoor setup to serve in our kitchen versus an outdoor table. And she executed all her prep in our small pantry area to keep the kitchen free and clear for guests! From my amateur perspective I see this as a notable sacrifice for a chef to opt out of a larger work area, but Nicole cheerfully went about her work commenting she was used to small work areas. She has a perfect temperament for a person in this role - what host doesnt count on this aspect of their event coming off well? Because she shows such sensitivity to the needs at hand, I feel I can highly recommend her for anyone. Also notable was that she left her work area spotless as though she hadnt just pulled off 6 different amazing dishes: chilled beet soup, cucumber dill cream cheese tea sandwiches, smoked salmon tartlets, vegetable spring rolls, and wasabi deviled eggs. I read her other reviews and requested some of those items because they sounded like her signature specialties - so tasty! But again, she had no trouble inventing many more options that we narrowed down from. Dessert was berry parfaits :-) As youll read from her other clients, we would not hesitate to call on Nicole for a future catered event!
Tania cooked a (mostly) vegan winter holiday meal for our family (9 people total). While only 3 of our guests were vegan, the food appealed to all, and the spring rolls were particularly awesome. The next biggest hit was the homemade lychee vegan ice cream. She was professional, courteous, efficient, and pricing was competitive. Would not hesitate to hire her again.
It was a night to remember! My husbands 60th Birthday Party was a smash hit thanks to Chefs, Yohann, Ralph and Justin! They are so sweet and charming, plus the food they prepared for us was off the charts, wonderful!!! Within 30 minutes of their arrival, my house was filled with the most delectable aromas! We had a sit down dinner for 31 people and everything went beautifully because of their delicious food and a friendly, extremely competent staff! To start off the evening we had appetizers of Lobster Tacos (the lobsters came live, directly from the fish market) and Fingerling potatoes with Caviar, paired with a wonderful French Champagne! It was difficult not just to fill up on those as they tasted incredible! Then once seated we started with an endive salad, with candied walnuts and a balsamic dressing which was amazing! The main course was filet mignon, with bernaise sauce, thinly cut french fries and a stewed/baked tomato. Everything was made in my kitchen from scratch, I couldn't believe it! The meat was prepared specifically to each guests preference and absolutely melted in your mouth! As they prepared each course they were happy to share their recipes and techniques. For dessert, they had prepared a home made hazelnut ice cream, which was to die for. And lastly we had them prepare some gourmet pizzas for later in the evening after dancing! Chefs Yohann and Ralph ended the evening by saying, " We love cooking and thank you for letting us do what we love and share it with you!". We are the ones to say, "Thank you for sharing your wonderful food with us!" Now we are just trying to think of another occasion to have them come again and cook for us! Un repas incroyable!
Laura has been amazing with both my children. My daughter wanted cooking lessons as part of her birthday present a couple years ago and Laura taught her (and me) how to make some amazing dishes. They have become my families "go to" favorites. Recently, my son decided he wanted to learn to cook too so Laura has started working with him. They made the most delicious chocolate cake with homemade buttercream icing for my mom's birthday and I'm hoping for a few more delicious dinner recipes soon too. Laura is patient, kind and the kids love her. She really makes it fun and has the best "tips and tricks" in the kitchen.
To say Andy's food is great does not do it justice. It is phenomenal. A few friends and I had the privilege of experiencing his cuisine and it had all the elements of a fine dining dinner. We decided on a seafood themed dinner party which started off with baked oysters Rockefeller with a twist. Instead of breadcrumbs he substituted crumbled pork rinds. It was an excellent take on a traditional classic. The main course of shrimp and grits (with tasso gravy & chive coconut cream) were also a crowd pleaser. Being from the south, I am skeptical about this lowcountry staple done right but must say he really impressed me. Andy was even able to accommodate a friend of mine who doesn't eat grits and replace it with buckwheat cereal and chia. I must say it was just as good as the grits. His versatility in pleasing all palates is a sign of a true chef. I highly recommend him and look forward to hiring Andy again in the future.
Leigh was absolutely wonderful--if you need someone to go the extra mile and be open to an adventurous evening, book her immediately! I reserved Leigh's talents to cater a Valentine's Day surprise for my husband...a romantic dinner for two, with a catch. The surprise took place "off-the-grid" at the top of a mountain on private property overlooking Malibu, in a restored vintage Airstream trailer, with a tiny stove/oven AND the last 1/4 mile was up a washed out dirt road. Not a problem for Leigh! Brad and I felt like we were dining at the finest french restaurant at the top of the world! She served a complete four course meal: Salmon w/cream fraiche appetizer, french onion soup, broiled loin lamb chops (seasoned to perfection!) served with a sweet potato puree and french green beans w/pancetta...and for desert, chocolate dipped strawberries! All of this on a tiny 3-burner gas stove w/an oven the size four shoe boxes! WOW! She was such a champ that she had no problem meeting me and transferring all of her food and equipment into my Range Rover for the trek up the last 1/4 mile! AMAZING! The best experience I could have imagined!
For my fiftieth birthday party, it was important for me to have a party that would be the talk of the town. I am so glad we hired Marie's Southern Comfort because with her on board; Mission accomplished. The most important piece to any event is the food and Marie's Southern Comfort ensured that our guests' palates would be oh so satisfied. The southern-style Cajun cuisine was simply delicious. Never have we tasted chicken that was tender, moist and just the right amount of spicy all at once. We ordered rice and beans to make it authentic and just talking about it I can almost taste them now. The blend of flavors was exquisite. Marie and her team were professional and made sure all the little details were covered for our event. My friends are still talking about the cake, "Death by Chocolate." And what a way to go. Chocolate layer cake with chocolate icing, and chocolate chips. One might think with all that chocolate, it would be overkill...but it was simply divine and perfect. I cannot express how pleased we were with everything Ms. Marie did for us. She gave me a special treat by adding a leopard over-lay on my red tablecloths. She communicated with everyone involved and found out that my red-carpet back-drop had leopard scalloped trim and kept to the theme with my tables. The original leopard woman, I was thrilled. I will not have another event that does not include the comfort I received from working with Marie's Southern Comfort.
I could not have chosen a better chef to cook for our bachelorette party. Ryan was extremely responsive throughout the planning process and menu creation. He was very accommodating to our requests and when we changed the location, date and time of the event, he made sure to cater to our needs and never showed frustration. On the day of the event, Ryan showed up early to prep and even brought his own serving dishes and display boxes. I am not exaggerating when I say that the brunch he made us was one of the best I've ever had! Some of my favorites were: truffles grits, pulled pork hash, gumbo, and banana ice cream. All of which were made from scratch! Ryan was great to talk to and very humble about his cooking. We invited him to eat with us and he politely accepted. When we were all finished, Ryan proceeded to clean up all the dishes and pots, ensuring we had containers to put the leftovers in. All in all, I would hire Ryan again in a heartbeat! 5 takeaway points: 1. Excellent chef 2. Professional, Prompt and responsive 3. Affordable rates 4. Personable and modest 5. Cleans up afterwards
James is an outstanding chef. He prepared a wonderful and elegant holiday dinner for 13 at our home. We had a four course meal, plus passed hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour. He arrived 3.5 hours before the event, with fresh ingredients for every part of the meal. He is meticulous and artful, creating dishes that are delicious and aesthetically interesting. I also suspect, based on watching him in the kitchen, that he has an extremely wide range and could cook anything. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed everything, including the Cornish hen that was a surprise to many who had expected a meat dish for the main course. Here's a look at the menu: -- Potato Leek Soup, crispy kale, roasted baby fennel, brioche croutons. -- Baby Asparagus (pencil point), toasted red quinoa, roasted red peppers, sherrylemon vinaigrette, roasted pumpkin seeds. -- Pumpkin Agnolotti, fresh ricotta, sage-brown butter, toasted pine nuts. -- Pan Roasted Cornish Hens, smoked arugula, young Pecorino polenta, charred tomato chutney. -- Chocolate Mousse Trifle, red wine braised cherries, toasted Macadamia nut whip cream. James introduced each course with a brief description, which was a nice touch. His two-person staff was extremely professional. He is really top-notch and helped create a wonderful experience for our guests. We look forward to having him back!
I needed a chef for a dinner with family and close friends, and didn't want to (nor was I capable of ) cooking for 8 people. I found Susan on Thumbtack and what a great experience. We had some dietary requests such as the meal being dairy free.. Susan gave us some ideas/options, and after discussing what we liked the entire meal was amazing, great food family style. We had barbecued skirt steak with the most amazing chimichurri sauce, perfectly roasted fingerling potatoes, with salad, and vegetables and for desert personal fruits tarts with ice cream. Oh and to start, the most amazing curried butternut squash soup, just enough to get the taste buds going. I couldn't recommend Susan higher, everyone had a great time, super easy to deal with and such a great person. Thanks Susan, looking forward to next time.
