The piano lessons since age 9 for almost 2 years now, and the violin lessons for a few months now to augment the strings music instruction at her school. He was referred by a family in our neighborhood, and he was open to trial lessons before completely signing on. He goes into music appreciation and history along with his teaching. We have also enjoyed a few recitals of his students along the way - there are three of these each year in student homes, and the anticipation of an upcoming recital is good motivation for the student to practice. For one of these recitals, Paul wrote the sheet music for a popular song that my daughter chose, since there wasn't one readily available. So he goes out of his way to customize the teaching. My daughter has progressed well, and enjoys the experience. I definitely recommend Paul. "See more

What we liked about Doris lessons was that in addition to teaching the more practical aspect of playing, she spent time in the beginning of each lesson listening to music and learning about classical composers. Doris is very patient with young learners, and it is very clear that she loves teaching children and share her love of music. My daughter always felt very well taken care of, and looked forward to the classes. My daughter loved playing on the new grand piano that Doris has in her living room. At the end of each lesson, Doris would write a note describing what they worked on and what the homework would be for next time, so there was never any confusion. Doris arranges recitals every year, sometimes in her own home, sometimes at a bigger venue. Last time it was at Prospect High School. She usually invites a local talented college age musician to perform at the recitals, which is highly motivating for the younger students to listen to.
