Introduction: After years of working with students of various backgrounds, ages, and experience levels, I try to keep things simple and direct. At the same time, I also tailor each sessions lesson plan to the individuals participating in that lesson. From day 1, my students are taught something they can use in a live scenario, despite previous abilities, or lack thereof. When I was younger I had the great privilege of training with Dan Inosanto, as well as Taky Kimura who are the only two living representatives of Jeet Kune Do to be personally certified by Bruce Lee. And more recently, Taky Kimura's son, as well as Bruce's Godson Andy Kimura. Since then I've found helping people learn to protect themselves, and passing my personal experiences along to others to be very personally rewarding in ways which are hard to explain in words.

Nico was immediately welcoming and made training in a new environment feel comfortable, as well as challenging in just the way I was looking for. The first session was a great intro and I continued to work with him, always anticipating training that was tailored to improve my progress given my specific experience and areas needing improvement. Sessions are focused, versatile and fun.

Niko is a fantastic instructor. His passion for teaching Jeet Kune Do is fierce and contagious. Always patient, insightful, and encouraging; Niko makes you feel like you're a part of the process, not just a student. His knowledge of the martial arts in general; with Jeet Kune Do and Wing Chun in particular, seem limitless. His understanding of a students individual needs and the ability to tailor the training program to that students particular need is what sealed the deal for me. If you have the opportunity to learn from Niko, take advantage!

Niko Skuljan and I met nearly three years ago (come this June) I posted an Ad on Craigslist for a private one on one Martial Arts instructor (I moved up from San Francisco to Sonoma full time 3 years ago) and decided to give up my Martial Arts trainer in the city, and Niko responded. We agreed to meet, go over in great detail, what my background in training was, what was important for me in my training, and his philosophy on Combat training, in other words....a very comprehensive consultation. The followoing week we began our training. I have been involved in one form of Martial Arts for years, whether it be Judo, A little Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing and now, with Niko, traditional Boxing, Muay Thai (or Thai kickboxing) as well as Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee's form of Martial Artistry) as well as a little Wing Chun. Niko Skuljan is very adverse in ALL of these forms of combat training! He is passionate, very patient, always reliable and extremely knowledgeable! And has an eye like a hawk! Nothing gets by Niko! Never fails to correct your form or stance, but also demonstrates it for you, so you have a visual to go by. We film our sessions, and He and I agree, that is a great way to see whatever might need correcting or what is being executed precisely! He and I have developed a friendship as well (as he is a highly intelligent individual and someone you feel an immediate connection or bond with) Even if Niko is delayed with traffic (as he lives in a different town then Sonoma) he is always fair and we always make up the time on another day of training. I would highly recommend Niko Skuljan to anyone that is considering taking their Martail Arts training to a much higher level! He certainly has mine! Len H. Sonoma, CA

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically I price customers based on the size of their group, session frequency, and how far I have to travel to train. Basically the more frequently more of us train, the greater this will be reflected as a 'discount' to the individual(s) of that 'group'.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually after a quote has been submitted based on a clients criteria, and accepted based on mine, the client and I would ideally speak over the phone or in person to discuss when and where to meet at the time and place we plan on most frequently training for an 'interview session' so to speak. We will hopefully decide whether to proceed from there based on said interview...
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been formally educated in this practice since 2006, and have experience in teaching my practice since as far back as 2009. My certificates include: Kali/Escrima for stick, knife, and machete tactics a 'Rapid Assault Tactics' certificate (see P.F.S) a Grappling certificate including techniques and drills from BJJ as well as Wrestling, Philipino Dumog, and 'Kina Mutay' a Trapping certificate (Jun Fan/ Wing Chun) And a JKD kickboxing certificate which includes techniques from Kung fu, Savate, Pananjakman/Panantucan, and Muy Thai, to name a few
