"Perhaps because our pitty was a stray before, she was not house trained and were defensively-aggressive towards other dogs which basically made the daily regular dog walk around the neighborhood next to impossible.. We soon figured we need professional help to sort out this staggering situation (short dog walk, less exercise for a young pitty, more frustration/ energy abundance = a viscous cycle). From there, we found Rusty/ Pawgress thru Thumbtack. Rusty had thoroughly observed, analyzed and explained where our dog frustration/ disobedience issues may root from. We then went from multiple indoor sessions to gradually outdoor training sessions. In hindsight, I think the most important training wasn't necessarily during the lesson itself, but thru the training exercises that Rusty recommended for us to practice on our own when he is not around! Thanks to Rusty, the main effort is to re-educate ourselves and learn more about behavior adjustment training. Its also pertinent to acknowledge that there's no magic switch that can turn a dog into an obedient super dog immediately. For context (and this should go wo saying, apparently each dog and each owner cases will be different), we had roughly 10 lessons with Rusty that spanned approx. across 4 months. With Rusty's lessons and persistent similar practices when Rusty's not around, our pit now would not keep on lunging during walk/ fully house trained (no more peed on carpet or destructive behaviors due to separation anxiety). We even went to camping and local dog park (off leash) for the first time. Without a doubt, that's significant upgrades to our dog (& ours) lives. If you and your dog are going thru similar struggle, I highly recommend look no further and schedule a meet w/ Rusty. Its a no-brainer to look for professional help and proper training if you seek for a better relationship w/ your furry friends which goes a long way. So here's to Rusty, thank you for guiding us thru the difficult and frustrating times w/ our pit. We wish Pawgress will continue to bloom and more frustrated dog-owners will consider to scout for your assistance to better their situations. Cheers!"

"I hired George to board and train my pit mix who has aggression issues with other dogs as well as having horrible leash manners. George came to my home, assessed my dog free of charge, and was able to give me a plan of what can be done in the week and a half that we were on vacation. While away, he was quick to answer all of my worried questions and provide videos of the activities they were doing. George is not the first trainer that I've left my dog with while away. Although the last trainers were nice and professional, my dog was still dog aggressive and was still pulling on a leash. And we left her with them a lot longer. As well as did a couple training sessions with them. George was able to teach her leash manners, as well as not mind other dogs when we go on walks. I haven't enjoyed walking my dog since she was a puppy! Her manners completely changed when he brought her back. She's now a joy to walk. He was nice enough to give my husband and I a crash course on how to keep up with her training. He didn't push us to buy a training package or anything. He just assured us that if we have any questions or concerns, to let him know. We've kept in touch even after her board and train. That says a lot about a trainer who cares enough to take time out of his busy day to make sure all the training is still going ok. Thank you for all you did for my Milan!"

Majyk Paws Dog Training

To put it simply, Maj is the perfect dog trainer and I am so happy that I hired her. I recently moved to the city after living in the central valley with Eva (my dog) for about 3 years. She went from seeing maybe one other dog a week to over 10 a day and was showing some leash aggression. She's a very active dog, so I knew she needed lots of exercise, but going on walks was getting to be really stressful (I was seriously getting worried she would attack another dog). I did lots of research online and tried some of the methods I learned, but I just couldn't seem to calm her down around other dogs. That's when I decided to contact Maj. We started our lesson by walking around the block, intentionally walking close to other dogs so Maj could see how Eva reacted. One thing I really appreciated was that she pointed out lots of subtle signs that I had never noticed before that hinted that Eva was about to freak about: tail slowly raising, accelerating to walk a little farther ahead of me, ignoring the leash a little more. After pointing these all out to me, we went over some techniques to get Eva to pay attention to me even when other dogs were around. Honestly, after just that 15 minute walk and those techniques I was already feeling optimistic. We then went into the basement of my apartment building (quietest place in the building) and went over some obedience training ("look", "yes") that I could use while on the walk to get Eva to quickly break her focus from other dogs and look at me. During this period, I really appreciated how descriptive Maj was when explaining exactly why Eva was showing certain behaviors. Everything just made so much sense. Ultimately, I can't recommend Maj enough. Over the course of just an hour and half I went from being scared to leave my building with Eva, to looking forward to spending time together again with my dog. I walked her tonight and I already see improvement!

Pawgress Dog Training

Rusty at Pawgress dog training has been an absolutely amazing trainer for our reactive cattle dog/ border collie mix. He has really given us so much information and shined light on some new techniques and strategies! We have found it so useful to have our dog practice with his dogs and we love the feedback and guidance! His PDFs have helped us to be able to practice and apply at home in between trainings as well! We can’t thank Rusty enough for the work this far! We look forward to training every week as we see our dog (and us!) make strides!

Pete's Dog Behavior Training

Pete has a very calm and good manner with the dogs and so much useful instructions for training, which help manage the behaviors. We really like his kind, but stern approach with repetition vs. other trainers who are very aggressive physically and verbally with the dogs. Pete't training style fits well with our personalities as dog parents. We will start putting into practice what we've learned and plan to use Pete's services again for additional training advice.

Executive Canine Services

Les has been great in working with my 85 yr old mom and her newly adopted shelter dog, Milo. Milo is an affectionate sweetheart, but becomes aggressive towards other dogs when out on walks. We were concerned that he may not be a good fit for my mom. Les is taking the time to work with my mom and Milo on basic commands, in order to help my mom establish the role of leader, as well as the aggression issue. She has gained more confidence in handling Milo, and does not want to give up on her little buddy! Les is very calm, and a delight to work with (Milo thinks so too). He is also very reasonably priced. Thanks Les!
