Whether you want to become an impressive singer or just want to fix some nagging issue in your already professional voice, I am here to help! I work closely with my students to find out exactly what they need; then using science-based exercises and cutting-edge vocal techniques, I hone in and correct the problem areas in the voice, resulting in greatly improved singing with impressive and long-lasting results. I am a passionate vocal coach who loves teaching singing. My pricing is reasonable for my high level of expertise, and I enjoy a strong focus on effective (but not boring) lessons. My clients include many popular performing artists, various stunning up-and-coming vocalists, and leads in many local theater productions. I also teach many beginning students in the 9 to 20 year-old range and never turn down students based upon experience or level of ability. As an inspired vocal coach, I take pride in meeting my students at their level and seek to always understand their desires, vision and vocal needs. I offer the following: * Professional teaching locations in Folsom and Davis. * Lessons for all ages, levels and musical styles. * The same vocal methods used by Hollywood's greatest singers. * Premier vocal instruction from a master vocal coach. * Learn how to sing any note with power and emotion, free from strain. What are singing lessons like? Lessons are perfect for anyone, from child to adult, from absolute beginner to signed recording artists, and because every singer is different, each singing lesson is tailored to the student's specific voice with individualized exercises and lesson plans. The techniques taught make singing simple and as natural as speaking, producing an effortless, powerful and expressive voice, giving the students the tools they need to reach their full vocal potential. I use the same techniques used by Grammy award-winning artists and industry leaders to perfect their vocal ability and ensure they are at the top of their game! I love helping signers conquer difficult issues in their voice and find great pride and joy in seeing the happiness that a great singing voice brings to the student. I also find great joy in helping new singers find their own unique voice, especially showing those who think they "can't sing" that really with practice, they can sound amazing.

When it comes to vocal coaching, I don't only teach, I am VERY active in the music industry, performing, touring, recording, etc. It is best when receiving instruction from someone who actively does what they teach. Once the singers' technique and range are decent, I begin to work on performance more and more. I currently have students competing on the voice, getting leads in local musical theater, to releasing their own albums on iTunes and touring. There is nothing more satisfying than giving to others. When you see vocal breakthroughs on a daily basis, it can even be hard to not get a little teary eyed! I genuinely love seeing my singers improve and knock down barriers. As far as I am concerned, we are in this together and you WILL improve.

I'm a professional music instructor with over 14 years of teaching experience. I offer private lessons for guitar, bass, piano and voice, as well as classes in Music Theory and Composition. I've had students as old as 70 and as young as 5 with a variety of different learning styles. While lessons are designed to be fun and accessible for players of all ages and skill levels, they're also tailored to assist each student in achieving their goals. I find the analogy between music and language useful when designing my curriculum. Thus, a lesson with me would touch on all the topics that might be covered in a language class (AND MORE): - theory = grammar - ear training = vocabulary - sight reading = literacy skills - composition = speech writing - repertoire = speech memorization - technique/articulations = enunciation - improvisation & collaborative skills = basic conversation skills - musicianship skills = musical multitasking (singing and playing at the same time, etc.) - recording experience, etc. I can help you bridge gaps in your knowledge, isolate hang-ups in your technique, learn to read music, write your own songs, collaborate with other players, recognize chords & scales by ear, communicate with other players about music on a technical level, explore new styles of playing, take your playing to the next level, and unlock your musical identity. Whatever your goals may be, I can help. I also encourage students to play games like Rocksmith and Bandfuse to supplement their guitar and bass repertoire. I find it highly rewarding to see a musician develop before my eyes and to know that I participated.

ALL my evening hours are limited. (4pm to later) Right now all hourly slots are booked but I'm asking students to keep checking periodically into my calendar on my website as the change-overs happen around every 8 to 12 weeks. If you are asking a quote that requires an evening hour slot (I only teach Mon.-Thurs), I won't be able to respond. I can only hope that you see this posting and will write me directly for any future possibilities. Thank you. I don't just coach, I teach! I'm also a very active performer in the music industry, LIVE performing appearances, touring, recording artist, etc. Not to mention, I'm a member of the Grammy's, ASCAP, the Miss America Scholarship organization and VASTA. I've been known for inviting my students on stage (where allowed) for a solo or duet so they can really see what its like. But if you're like some of my other students, and all you want to do is just learn to sing, then no worries! I'm not going to push you on a stage. ;-) What I'm trying to say, is that sometimes it's a good idea to receive instruction from a teacher who does what they teach. I'm in the process of developing an agreement with a local restaurant in Old Town Elk Grove to start showcasing my students on a regular quarterly basis, so this may be of interest to you.... or not. Like I said, I never push anyone to do something they don't want to do.... but I may constantly try my best to encourage ya to! :-) There's nothing better than giving back to the community I grew up in. When I get to witness "Ah ha!" moments on a daily basis, its hard to keep my eyes from leaking a little! I genuinely love seeing my singers improve and knock down barriers. As far as I am concerned, we are in this together and you WILL improve.

  • Piano and Performance Pedagogy

    (8 reviews)

I have a long history of successful training. I have several programs that I have created to motivate in different ways for different types of learners. I have the skills to teach students how to write their own music, perform successfully, or simply enjoy music for their own experience. I have Master Classes quarterly that enhance and expand a students involvement, performance experiences and creates a unified school of music as students share their talents with their peers. I love watching a student 'get it'. That moment when after long (or short!) lessons on a subject, they light up and actually understand the principle and are able to repeat it consistently. I love getting to know them and working with them with a little bit of my life-coaching practice tossed in to accentuate the learning.

I teach both voice and piano from a background of high quality training and knowledge. I have had students sing in bands, choirs, and leads in community theater. Some have gone on to professional careers on the stage, including Broadway (Teal Wicks took voice lessons from me while in high school in Sacramento). Some are soloists in their church choirs, and some have sung lead with their bands. I really like seeing students improve and grow musically. It's great to see them get excited and inspired as performers and artists.

  • ELV Professional Voice

    (3 reviews)

I am professionally trained in all aspects of voice from singing to narration. I also specialize in diction and pronunciation so I can assist people for whom English is not their first language to sound more "American " if that is desirable! I love to sing, but even in simply speaking, knowing how and in what way to control your voice gives you an edge with your audience.

    DD's Music

    (2 reviews)

My 7 year old daughter just had her first session with DD. My daughter is usually very shy, however, DD did a great job making her feel comfortable and open up. I did not want my daughter to feel like she "HAD" to sing or feel any pressure as if it was work. DD makes singing lessons fun and exciting which is great for my 7 year old to stay interested in strengthening her vocal skills. My daughter and I look forward to working with DD!
