ROF Industries headed up by Nicole Pittman-Staab and Chris Staab are videographers/photographers who created a wonderful presentation of an aerobatic jet flight I participated in over Southern California. They were able to set up numerous cameras, recorded the event from visually interesting angles, provided editing, musical scoring and conducted interviews with the participants in a documentary style video. The quality of the work was outstanding, ahead of schedule, and the crew at ROF are self motivated. They were always checking up on things and asking questions to make the product the best it could be for me. Everything went perfectly and better than I imagined. I'm very proud of their work and they made me feel and look like a star. They are very easy to work with, friendly and just plain nice! I am planning another doozy of a project for them next year and I wouldn't consider anyone else but them to pull it off.

Went above and beyond the other videographers we had hired on for our project; going as far as sending them via postal to us for us to meet our deadline.

On the single most important day of my Life to date, Jordan captured the moments that we, my fiance and I, will treasure for the rest of our days. Not only was the occasion a 30th birthday party, but also the proposal! That's right - I popped the question and she said yes. Jordan captured it all. If you are searching for a photographer and videographer that is responsive, honest, and produces quality, please reach out to Jordan. By the way; he shoots with Sony. Therefore, you can only expect the best quality photos and video, with crisp audio. Looking forward future opportunities, Jordan. Thank you!

Our experience with Thumbs Up Video was exceptionally positive. We were in need of a videographer at the last minute and Bruce provided his availability at such a short notice. His work is efficient, very clean, and extremely impressive. I would highly recommend his services!

My favorite thing about working with Luis was his friendly mannerisms and respect for those in attendance at our wedding. He and his helper did an outstanding job with recording us in the perfect manner. We've shared the videos with our friends and family and everyone really enjoyed watching them. Our family members that couldn't make it out to our wedding were in tears after seeing the highlights. We are super glad that we hired newlywed cinema and Luis. Couldn't have asked for a better videography team!

I hired Keida day before a wedding for my sister in law. Which we didn't expect we would need one. He was SO accommodating and also went above and beyond to stay a bit longer than discussed for our event. He is so fast, efficient and very friendly. He came right on time and due to the last minute booking from phone consultation to day of, he worked with us the best he could. His example works were much better than the other videographers who gave a rate to our budget price. My gut told me to trust him, pay the extra and be his first client for Thumbtack. It was beyond what I expected and he did an excellent job and more! I wish I could give more stars than 5!

Grant and Louis covered the footage of my wedding and i definitely recommend them if you are looking for excellent videographers. They were absolutely fabulous to work with and captured every aspect of my wedding. They are easy to communicate with and were very quick to reply to my questions prior to the wedding. During the wedding, they made sure to capture everything from the venue to the decorations to the first dance and cake cutting, etc. It was really great how they hooked up a wireless speaker phone to the pastor during the ceremony so the recording was clear and there was no echoing in the video. Shortly after my wedding we received our edited footage which was incredible! They did an impressive job creating a reception highlight reel, edited ceremony video and an overall wedding day highlight reel. Overall their communication skills, professionalism, video and editing capabilities and camera equipment were impressive and i would highly recommend them.

Jon Hwang is an amazing videographer who successfully captured our wedding day. His greatest skill is the ability the capture the mood. Many professionals are great at simply filming and editing footage, but Jon goes well beyond expectations and captures the essence of an event. Details such as clips, pacing, and music must be combined in a unique way to properly express meaning—which Jon does without fail. Jon is easy to work with throughout the entire process. During our first meeting, we negotiated the details and he worked with us to provide a film within our budget. He showed up on the wedding day prepared and ready to go. Perhaps most importantly is that Jon was able to work successfully with our photographer, something that can’t be taken for granted. He provided an extra hand whenever needed, avoided showing up in the background of pictures, and yet was still able to capture the shots necessary. After the event, he continually worked with us to get the video just the way we wanted it. We made numerous suggestions, changes, and tweaks, which he fixed without any complaints. His films clearly demonstrate his artistic skill. We strongly recommend Jon Hwang. Janna and Anthony

My husband and I interviewed 4 wedding video vendors. Our wedding planner insisted we use one of his people. We went with our own and Bryan was one of our best wedding videographer decisions. I am so glad that we decided to hire a professional videographer like Bryan for our wedding! It was well worth the money and I would recommend him to any bride-to-be. The film was wonderful and did a great job at capturing all the special moments on our wedding day. Your wedding day is an investment and among the many things, it is certainly an investment in memories.

Joseph was extremely professional and our video turned out ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. During our wedding, hardly anyone even noticed we had a videographer because he was very discrete and not disruptive at all. Very professional and timely as well. Our video turned out better than I could have ever expected and it captured our day so well. The quality of the editing and the music choice exceeded our expectations! I would highly recommend hiring him for your wedding or any other event!

As a young adult with a mediocre job and financial limitations, I feel that I was provided the best quality of service from District 12 Films. I requested their services for my high school graduation video after seeing their other work (high school graduations, SDE, and weddings) Not only was I impressed with the quality of their work, but also with their time management skills and work ethic. They were very professional and always got a hold of me to make sure we were on the same page of what my expectations were for the final product. These gentlemen are hardworking, conscientious, and put their clients satisfaction above anything else. I was very pleased with the end result of the video. Not only do I have a keepsake, I also have great memories of my own personal success and time spent with my family especially my grandmother "Gram" who has since then passed away. Everytime I watch the beautifully made video it's like my Gram is still here. And that in itself is enough for me to recommend District 12 films to anyone who is wishing for the best quality of work. Thank You District 12 Films!

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with MJS Production for our wedding events in May 2017. They were very easy to work with during the pre-wedding process. They addressed all of our concerns and made sure she knew of everything we wanted to pass along to the videographers who shot our events. The videographers at our wedding events were very punctual and professional and did a wonderful job capturing all of our wedding memories! The people we worked with during post production were also amazing. We loooved our highlight video and feature film as did all of our friends and family. MJS Production did a wonderful job and met our expectations! Make sure to book them in advance!

Kusho is an amazing person and an even freakishly amazing videographer. I have known her and her work for a few years now, so it's no surprise that she is my go-to videographer. Her eye for detail, caring nature, and her knack for creativity is beyond comparison. I keep envisioning future projects where I can bring her and her expertise in. She communicates our vision perfectly in the videos and goes beyond the expectation. Her flexibility is a treasure and I am glad that she is always up for a challenge!

Will is an incredibly professional and passionate about his work. From the moment we started talking on the phone, I could tell he knew what he was doing. When Will sent me a highlight video from a wedding he did, it oozed emotion, creativity, and passion- things you want your videographer to have. As a wedding planner, I would highly recommend Will, you can't go wrong with him!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

        • Package 1: $1,400
          • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
          • Two cameras with audio equipment.
          • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
          • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
        • Package 2: $1,800
          • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
