I turned 50 in June, and thanks to Reggie, I have never felt stronger or more confident!! In August of 2018, I had elective spinal fusion surgery. The surgery and recovery time resulted in me being the heaviest of my life. I was depressed. None of my clothes fit. My friend told me about Reggie, and so, I gave him a call, but I was nervous about hurting my back. I met Reggie in March and told him I wanted to get strong, but not injured. He listened intently and was genuinely interested in my story and excited to help me. I’ve had several personal trainers throughout my lifetime, and some were good, some not so good, and one who injured me, so I was a bit apprehensive. I did not want someone who was going to just sit there, collect their money, bullshit chit chat, and be on their phone. I have now been with Reggie for six months, and I can tell you he is NONE of those things. He is professional, genuine, funny, serious, motivating, and kind. Sometimes he will piss you off because he will tell you you’re going to do 10 reps and then he will say, “I need you to give me five more,” and I’m like, “F—K You,” but I do it because If I believe I can’t do something, he convinces me I can and pushes me through each set. Sometimes I want to kill him for pushing me so hard, but EVERY time it’s over, I feel amazing. I have done things I never thought I could and hoping to accomplish much more over the next year or so. He is truly the best trainer I have ever had, and he LOVES his job, and that is the difference. He sends you videos of your workouts which are sometimes hard to watch, but always make me feel good about myself. Reggie is the epitome of what a personal trainer should be: PASSIONATE about his craft and your progress; KNOWLEDGEABLE about how the body responds to workload and nutrition; a solid COMMUNICATOR always ready to explain why your are doing something; in possession of EMPATHY and COMPASSION - which is to say he NEVER looks down on a client's weakness(es) or trash talks anyone; and has a great sense of WHEN TO PUSH you and WHEN TO PULL BACK. I am a 67 year old female. For the past 2 months Reggie has been training me without injury which is noteworthy given a back injury. He doesn't let me plateau but keeps pushing me with intense and creative workouts. I am never bored with his program, instead I look forward toe very workout. And he is right there checking my form, counting reps, encouraging me, assessing the difficulty and adjusting the workout on the fly. When I started training with Reggie I was about to go up a pant size. In two months I lost fat and gained muscle in all the right places. My waist got thinner, stomach flatter, and my booty finally had a good shape to it again. Also, Reggie taught me how to eat properly to give my body what it needs to get the results I wanted to see. Reggie was there to support me the whole time and to keep me accountable. He was always easy to contact and flexible with my schedule. I LOVE working out with Reggie! I've had a personal trainer before but Reggie is legit and knows his stuff, bringing years of experience to what is obviously a job he loves to do. He's funny, intuitive, and really understands how to get you to the next level without breaking you down too much, haha! I can get bored easily so it's amazing that he customizes each day to be a bit different. We've been training for about 8 weeks now and I can see the difference in how my body looks and more importantly feels (fountain of youth y'all, seriously...). I also record my clients weight, take body measurements and perform a fitness assessment to determine their current fitness level.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My love for sports led me to my passion for personal training. I started playing football at the age of 8. In high school I made All Conference and All Inland Empire. I was also voted for Best Running Back in Riverside County. My Junior and Senior year I ran track and made it to the State Finals. In 1991 I received a full athletic scholarship to Cal State Fullerton...
