Jeff gave me a free home inspection for pest/rodent activity. He gave me an estimate onsite and made it clear that he could solve the problem. He was hired on the spot and came at the agreed upon time with 2 more folks to help him get the job done! He did such a great job that I have not seen any more evidence of activity from day one! I am very pleased and have hired HALO to continue to monitor and treat my home not only for rodents but for insects as well!!

He came to check on the work and give us quote same day. Our old dishwasher was leaking under the sink... My husband thinks he did a great job with removing moldy pieces of cabinets and replacing them with new wood.

I had Barlow's Pest Control come out to service for spider's and rats. Talk about great service, not only did they take care of all my problems, they were so reasonably priced and came out to my house right away. It's wonderful to see that there's a company still out there that really cares and does such an efficient service, with a smile. I would highly recommend them for any of your pest issues.

He has done the first application to get rid of rats on my property. So far, I don't know the overall result, but expect to be satisfied. He is polite, arrived on time only 1/2 hour after I called, showed my contractor the spots on the house that needed to be patched to stop the rodents from entering the house. First impression is 100% favorable.

Choosing Attic Projects for my attic cleaning was the best decision I've made. It was a smooth process from the start to finish, and a very positive experience. The inspection was thorough and yet quick, and the price offer was given in less than an hour. Adam was polite and very professional, he explained the whole process and answered all of our questions with patience, unlike the other companies we got offers from who sent pushy salesmen who were only focused on closing a sale! Compared to the other companies we checked with, the price we got from Attic Projects was reasonable, taking into consideration the amount of work needed to be done. On the day of the cleaning Adam and the workers worked extremely hard on the insulation removal and cleaning, and following the insulation installation was a really fast process. As said in the beginning, choosing Attic Projects was the right choice and they deserve a 5 star review and I definitely recommend choosing them!

Ron is a total pro. He and his team over-delivered in every way. We had the all too common San Diego rodent problem (laundry room and attic) and Ron found all of their secret entry points and sealed them up. Our home was disinfected and spotless when they left. I highly recommend Ron and 911 Restoration.

Love working with Rat Pact - they were able to accommodate my schedule, educated me on what needed to be done to get rid of my rodent problem, gave me a great estimate, started the exclusion and set traps the very next day and have been back to check the traps they set. All of the Rat Pact guys were on-time, professional, courteous and hard working. I am confident that rodents won't be keeping me awake at night anymore... Thanks Rat Pact!

They did a free inspection for rats and termites and they were professional and honest. They found no termite issues and only a small rodent issue which Brandon fixed for free. No "imaginary" issues and no upcharge. Kind of great. Will call them if I have any future needs.

We were very happy with the service provided by Kirby from Pestmaster Services - we only had a small wasp nest to remove, and after looking at it he charged even less than this original online quote. As a bonus, he removed some snails and other misc. debris from the building while he was here. Quick, prompt response, integrity and going above and beyond - what more can you ask for?? Thank you Kirby!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
