Now We're Cooking has catered a birthday party at my home for 20 guests. The Mediterranean style food that I requested was absolutely delicious. Peach and shrimp crostini and artichoke stuffed mushrooms were especially good. So were the main courses: baked salmon and grilled chicken with dill yogurt. The chef Steven was very easy and pleasant to deal with. Highly recommend.

I had the opportunity to be at a Japanese cooking class that Misaki taught on September 24, 2016. I had been at other cooking classes but by far this was my favorite! I learned how to make an original Japanese dinner, one that I would be proud to serve to my guests. The class was easy to follow, the ingredients were easy to find, healthy and the dinner we had after the class was absolutely delicious! This class was very valuable to me because I will make these recipes for my husband that has a gluten free diet. Martha

Working with Bailey was an amazing experience to say the least. So much talent and creativity. Professional, reasonable and accommodating - will definitely work with her again. Her food is so delish and super healthy! As a clean eating vegan I was really pleased with her knowledge on how to create such yummy healthy plant based dishes. Thanks again Bai!

I loved my interactive, online cooking class with Chef Patsy! Before I get started, I must say I was extremely impressed with the integrated video conferencing service that Trainasium uses for their online class offerings. The connection was amazing and my screen didn't freeze once during the class. Just a side note for anyone not sure about interactive online cooking classes. I have never made a pie from scratch before and Chef Patsy took us step by step on how to prepare the pie dough and the filling. She gave each and every one of us a warm greetings as we entered the online class. I loved the fact that we could ask Chef Patsy questions during class and have her take a look at our mixture if we were not sure about something. It was like having Chef Patsy in my own kitchen. It was the cooking lesson without the headache. While waiting for the pie to finish cooking, Chef Patsy amazed us with various ways to use left over pie dough and different pie decorating techniques. It was so amazing to be able to celebrate with Chef Patsy and the other students once our pie was finished. My sense of accomplishment was through the roof at that point. The cost of the cooking class was way less than going to a traditional cooking class and I loved the fact that I was in my kitchen which made me so much more confident while attempting this creation. The part I loved the most about this interactive online cooking lesson was that I was able to do it with my sister-in-law! I loved being able to see Chef Patsy and all of the other students that live in different places right from my Laptop. I will definitely be taking more online cooking lessons with Chef Patsy.

I took a cooking class with Gregorio Serafini and it was AWESOME! We made lots of different things and he also let us sample. Not only did we learn to cook, but we also learned about the history of the things we cooked. A definite blast! Can't wait to do it again! :)

We hired Gabriel as a private chef for a party at our home & were so impressed! The dishes were delicious & our guests raved about the dinner for weeks! Gabriel is very professional & took care of everything so that we were able to just enjoy the evening with our guests. We also found out that Gabriel is an opera singer & he even sang a short piece for us which was such a treat! He teaches cooking classes as well, so next month we're going to have our friends back for a cooking party so we can learn his secrets!

I have hired Chef Mark on several occasions. He is a pleasure to work with whether is it a simple order of pastries, a cooking class for a group, to a complex, multi-course dinner for 35 at a private home. Food is always excellently prepared, impeccable presentation and taste is phenomenal. He puts in the effort to find out exactly what you want and provides everything you asked for and more!

Best nutritionist in San Diego for natural and healthy foods, especially if you are thinking of becoming a vegan or vegetarian! Basically, I was a bachelor and I needed guidance for grocery shopping, meal prep and did one of her cooking classes focused on smoothies and juicing - was geared to yogis/athletes (pre and post workouts). I was taken to People's in Ocean Beach for a one hour tour (place is all vegetarian), and I learned the best things to pick out from each isle. She also treated me to a salad in their cafe, and told me what salad bar items pack the best nutrition (I was focusing on slowly eating less meat and just making sure I was getting good protein). My work is hiring her for our corporate wellness program based on her dietician background and nutritionist certification...sweet! She has awesome teas too, they cleanse you out ;)

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
