Golam says, "My job can be very stressful & I had allowed myself to get really out of shape. So, last summer, I decided to find a personal trainer who would not only motivate me but to push me to put myself first, instead of always saying to myself “I will work out tomorrow…I will eat better tomorrow…One day won’t make me fat”. I researched several trainers and found Svetness personal training company. They assigned Daniel as my personal trainer. By far Daniel is the most professional, realistic and down to earth. He does not blow the “smoke” many trainers do, he also is the only trainer (and he is my 3rd…from the same company) who explains proper form and method behind his training. Best part, he is very very friendly and fun to work with :). Since working with Daniel, I feel very energetic and motivated. and I feel lot stronger than I used to be. If not for Daniel, I would absolutely be so stressed from work that I would be miserable (also fact that i am expecting my first child in couple of months), but thanks to Daniel, I can leave that from my mind! If you are thinking of going to a trainer, I cannot recommend Daniel enough, he is worth every penny and more! Do yourself a favor and call Svetness today and ask for Daniel!"See more

Matthew A. says, "What do I start talking about Daniel? I met Daniel because I had inquired about joint injections for chronic shoulder pain. The person said "have you done everything else, especially mobility?" I was hesitant to believe that anything could help and wanted to just get rid of the pain. I went ahead and met with Daniel for 5 sessions. As a doctor myself, It was very clear to me during the first session that Daniel KNOWS what he is talking about. We did several intense stretching exercises that I had never done before. I always did short stretches which apparently did almost nothing. He taught me proper technique and duration to activate muscle groups and create inherent strength in the muscles. More importantly, he taught me how to how to do rolling mobility. By deep tissue rolling, releasing muscle fascia tension, my range of motion increased and my pain dramatically decreased. For the next four sessions, we focused on different muscle groups doing more stretching exercises and proper strength training as well as always rolling out tense areas. It has been several months now since I worked directly with Daniel, and using his lessons, I am much stronger, pain free, faster and more effective in the gym. The key is learning the technique and then maintaining mobility weekly to monthly as he teaches you. The guy is super knowledgeable and lives and breathes this stuff! Can't recommend him enough."See more

Marty S. says, "I've been training with Dan Fine for just over 5 years now, and he's the ONLY reason I've actually got anywhere. I'd done the same pointless gym routines everyone does and gained basically nothing, so when my office moved down the road from North Hollywood Gold's I decided to join and watch the trainers for a couple of months. You know how gyms are - pick the wrong trainer and you're stuck with him/her unless you want the uncomfortable "break-up" chat and then you have to see them every time you go (it's happened to me). I decided on Dan because he was clearly genuinely focused on his clients, which most trainers are not, and whoever I asked about him said he was the real deal. I picked well. He's a big dude, but don't let that fool you - he's a totally cool guy that tailors the workout to what you want out of it. His other clients are all ages and abilities. Be prepared to really do it, but that's why we're there, right? My body started changing because we hit it hard, and properly, and he taught me how to eat to gain. I had no idea food really is at least 50% of the process. Anyway, 5 years later I get a lot of compliments on my body now, which is awesome and weird for me since I was always the skinny guy, and so have gained a lot of confidence from that. It's been a life-changer, as they say. I guess the most important thing for me is that we always have a blast when we train - it makes it so much easier for me to go since I'm not a real motivated guy. I still see many people from 5 years ago who literally haven't changed, coz they don't work out correctly and certainly don't eat correctly. Do yourself a favor and get a trainer that knows what they're talking about. Obviously I would recommend Dan, since IMHO he's the best (as evidence of this, he trains many peeps for competition with many first place finishes, so he knows his s**t). Just do me a favor and DO NOT take my timeslot... "See more

Brenda M. says, "My experience with Hana has been amazing. She is very kind, professional, and extremely knowledgeable with all things fitness and nutrition. She has done such a good job of listening to my goals and establishing a workout and nutrition plan tailored to my needs. Every session is fun and challenging, but her positive attitude and mindset have always kept me motivated and consistent. She believes in her clients, which has allowed me to see strength I didn’t know I had. I also appreciate her constant check-ins on how both my body and mind are feeling with not only the exercises but with my nutrition as well. The results I have gotten from her sessions and nutrition plan have been extremely rewarding and seeing my body be the strongest it has ever been has been amazing. Having Hana as my  trainer has really made me grow a love for the gym and has made me motivated to continue to become stronger. Always a great time working with her!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.
